That was a beautiful shot, just inside.

As for me, I'm watching Oranje/Portugal, because when a loaded team needs to win by at least 2 goals, you're going to see goals, especially with the opponent having some great offensive talent as well.

And great to see NED score early, that'll really make this interesting.

2012-06-17 02:58:19 PM
Did you see that missed foul on the Dutch build up to their goal? I told you the fix was in...

Yeah. Dude placed that shiat perfectly, left side.

One might say the Dutchman....passed the Dutchie on de leff 'an side.

Goal Netherlands! It's fun. I'm currently in the Netherlands babysitting a friend's house and cats and after that goal was scored the whole neighborhood exploded with noise. Complete with vuvuzelas.

9beers: Good explanation, I wasn't thinking about it the right way

It's also a little goofy because the tiebreakers for Euro are not the same as the World Cup. World Cup uses total goal differential from the entire group. UEFA's tiebreakers are focused on head-to-head results.

I_Love_Cheesecake: midpoint: Holland - a demonstration that 11 talented individuals is not a team.

It seems like that's been a problem for the Dutch team for many years now. Why is that?

Teams get reputations. Those reputations stay with them thanks to media narratives and popular culture. Perhaps I'm just doing that as well?

See:

MUFC - ruthless winners
NUFC - comedy club
Arsenal - without courage

etc etc.

I'm not sure Holland does have more arguments, but they do talk to their own press a lot more than other teams. Ex-internationals seem to like sticking their oar in as well.

I really hope the SPL shoots themselves in the foot and vote against re-instating the Gers.

That outcome is likely. Rangers may even voluntarily go down to the third division, just to 'show them'.

2012-06-17 03:09:45 PM
The Dutch are going to have to score at least three goals, because I can't fathom Portugal not scoring in this one. It's a little amazing they haven't scored already.
