Tiebreaker explanations for the above:

If Denmark win and Portugal don't, Denmark wins the group over Portugal on head-to-head.
If Denmark and Portugal both draw, Portugal takes second over Denmark on head-to-head.

If Denmark and Portugal both win, there's a three-way tie for first at 6. Three-way head-to-head is the tiebreaker:
- If Denmark win by 2+, Denmark is 1st (+ H2H GD), Portugal is 2nd (0 H2H GD), Germany is out (- H2H GD).
- If Denmark win by 1, all three are at 0 H2H GD and it goes to head-to-head goals scored.
-- If Denmark win 1-0, Portugal is 1st (3, then H2H over DEN), Denmark is 2nd (3), Germany is out (1).
-- If Denmark win 2-1, Denmark is 1st (4), Portugal is 2nd (3), Germany is out (2).
-- If Denmark win 3-2 or bigger, Denmark is 1st (5+), Germany is 2nd (3, then H2H over POR, or more), Portugal is out (3).*

If Denmark and Portugal both lose, there's a three-way tie for second at 3. Again, three-way head-to-head goal differential breaks the tie:
- If Netherlands win by 2+, they are 2nd (+ H2H GD)
- If Netherlands win by 1, all three are at 0 H2H GD and it goes to head-to-head goals scored. Portugal will have more goals scored than Netherlands and at least as many goals as Denmark (who they would beat on H2H if it came to that), so Portugal will take 2nd.

*-Note that this means Portugal does not control their own destiny. A DEN 3-2 GER result eliminates Portugal no matter what they do against Netherlands.

Agreed. I am an underdog rooter (American fan), so HOPE that Denmark surprises Germany...But I think the Holland Portugal match is going to be a beauty.

Didn't we just have this farking conversation yesterday?

And don't we regularly have eight NFL games on at the same time? You know what the solution is?

The purpose is to limit (though it doesn't eliminate) opportunities for opposing teams to collude and create a result that is favorable to both.

i feel for those who are against simultaneous final matches-and expelling this scenario is not easy.
believe me, this system is fair for the supporters at the stadiums.

I'll be going for Por-Hol, but not because of the pretty boys.

I hereby predict Ronaldo will take a free kick with his hands on his hips, contemplating how good he looks on camera.

What is the over-under on the number of dives that the Portuguese commit today?

Also, because of the simultaneous games, I get to watch one of them on glorious HD on CTV.

That's great and all, but how does this situation prevent the officials from determining the games as UEFA wants. After all, Holland "has to" go through, so normally you would only have watch the officials of their game closely, but this time both referees "might" be following orders. I'm not saying that some of the calls in this Euro have been suspect, but sometimes I wonder how corrupt UEFA is? Here's to hoping for quality games with quality officiating.

Have not done live music recording...It does pick up a LOT of room noise without an external mic. I did interviews in a sports bar with it, and we had to be extremely close to the twin mics to be heard above the background. WITH external mics, it is tits for everything I have done with it.

9beers: How is Germany not guaranteed a spot in the next round? Even if they lose and Portugal wins, both would have 6 points. I though that head to head was the first tiebreaker.

Goal difference, then head-to-head.

I'll be rooting for the Netherlands. Not because I'm a particularly big fan of the Oranje, I'd just likje to see Ronaldo & the Farkfaces eliminated before England are.

yeah, i'd have to get some externals most likely for a live sutation....not sure if i want to make that kind of cpaital investment. and then mike stands, etc.

i just hate going to shows and not seeing tapers. and some of the bands i see are trade friendely, meaning they'll patch you in to the SBD if you provide your own cables and i thinkt he Samson has XLRs.

i probably wont' do it but yeah, seeing that in your profile intriegued me.

If they lose and Portugal wins, all three of Germany, Portugal and Denmark will be on 6 points. Then it goes to the "mini-group" between the three -- each one will have beaten one of the others and lost to the other one, so it goes to goal differential in games between the three. If that's tied, then goals scored among those three is the tiebreaker. Germany could still fail to qualify if they lost by 2 goals or more or lose by one but only scoring one or zero goals -- in the former case they will lose on the mini-group goal differential, in the latter they would lose on goals scored in the mini-group.
