apparently subby fails hard at reading comprehension... it was the same day, not the day after, and the situation as reported sounds extremely dangerous for a 6-year-old that none of the adults are claiming as belonging to them.

I agree, cameroncrazy1984. I'm glad President Obama didn't legislate from the White House and implement the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act as borg repeated another GOP sound bite. He's focusing on more important illegal immigrant problems than kicking kids out of the country who pose no threat and are trying to better themselves.

Also, borg, you have too many to words in your sentence.

/Proof read and spell check before you post.

That is not what the article says at all.

On a related note, President Obama's policy is not a significant change. The resources to deport aliens are being used to deport criminal aliens (simply overstaying a visa or being present without a visa is not a criminal offense, but a civil violation) as a priority. That is as it should be. Once we have all the felons who are present without authorization in the country removed, then we can begin on the misdemeanants, and then when they are all gone we can kick out the kids that came over at five years old. Until then there is a basic human right to work and support one's self and family; please see the Universal Declaration of Human Rights §23.

If the choice seems to be working or welfare, I think everyone would prefer to work and pay taxes just like hundreds of millions of others in this country.

I still don't get arresting the kid tho. Taking her into custody, which would be the ONLY response to the situation, is not the same as being arrested and charged. Mostly I question the language of the article.

I mean do they suspect she masterminded the whole thing? "We've been looking for the criminal mastermind who orchestrated thousands of illegal entries into the United States and was reported under 'interrogation' to be recognizable by her pink kitty barrettes".

I always thought "enforcing existing labor laws" would defeat the whole illegal immigrant problem and sounded really reasonable, too.

//Too socialisty?

While I think finding this particular child was just a well timed coincidence, I expect we'll see Arpaio ramp up his efforts to deport children, since the deportation deferment only applies to those who have a HS diploma. GED, or record of military service. He'll want to make sure kids that are already in the US are rounded up before they're able to satisfy that requirement. I won't be at all surprised if he has teams start raiding schools.

Nobody said she was going to be treated the same as other people in custody. I'm guessing family or children services would be retrieving here from the poky. The arrest was probably the first step in getting her the support she needs since no guardians are in the picture.

People don't seem to know what presidents main job is. Presidents don't make the law, they don't make the budget. (yes the submit one but that's not the same) They are not a CEO. They run the organizations of the country. The send out directives on how the things should be run and hire the people that the different groups. That includes prioritizing what different departments do.

In fark threads it seems to me people have it backwards.

You could be the whitest bastard from Sweden, or the Brownest from Mexico -- illegal is illegal. And until you do it the legit way I want em' all gone.

If you don't respect the country enough to do things the legit way, why would you respect our other laws concerning taxes/driving/etc?

Immigration is a great thing when done properly.

Protip: it doesn't help your case when you take your entire non english speaking family to the emergency room for a standard cold. Illegals clogging up our (already) piss poor health care system sucks - even with insurance I walk out of there with a $1000 bill, while they walk out never paying a dime.

My whole point is that I'm tired of helping take care of everyone else via my tax dollars. Kick them all out and if they want to apply the legit way I'd welcome them with open arms.

Too rich.

People who hate the illegals don't want them to be able to buy insurance...but, complain when they show up for treatment uninsured.

The people who are a drain ARE being kicked out. IN RECORD NUMBERS. But, you have to realize that some are going to slip through the cracks...and, some are here because their parents brought them.

And, guess what...the hard-line, no-nonsense, tough-on-illegals measures that you think keep immigrants out are just adding to your tax bill. Congratulations.

Stop being ruled by your emotions and maybe you'd stop being kicked in the balls.

You're an idiot. Your tax dollars aren't "helping take care of everyone else", and less than a tenth of a cent of every tax dollar you pay would go towards supporting illegal immigrants in any way, shape or form. If you want to biatch about how tax dollars are spent, then I'd suggest you start biatching more about defense spending and corporate welfare - that's how the VAST majority of your tax dollars are being spent. If you were able to reduce that by just 10%, it would make a noticeable difference in your taxes. Reducing 100% of of "support for illegals" would make zero difference to your bottom line.

Your pissant immigration laws lead to me being forced to leave and never return (I went to a funeral in Canada and was denied re-entry because apparently as a green card applicant - leaving for even a day meant I "abandoned" my application.)

This is a great example of the President dividing the country by mandating against the will of the people. The Dream Act would have been wholly acceptable as part of comprehensive immigration reform. When implemented alone it obviously adds to the problem and it infuriates people to be told otherwise. Next step is calling them racist for being overly impassioned about the sensitive issue. The voting backlash will be ridiculous. This and other policies will be rolled back easily by super-majorities and the President will be proven to be the most damaging and ineffective in history. Cheers!

First, I'm not the one making a claim. You are.

Second...siting? Really? Siting IS a word...it just doesn't fit in the context of your challenge. Did you mean, perhaps, "citing"?

In any case, you haven't answered my question. So, again, how do you support your claim? Be specific.
