redesigning equipment MythBusters built in two days..... while it worked better, i'm not really that impressed.

I was going to suggest it might be useful for firemen, but then I realised there'd be no room for them to carry a breathing apparatus and anyway, they use ladders.

No one else thinking of the joy that would come from killing the power to the vacs halfway up and hearing the screams from the guy as he fell backwards???

/fell all of maybe 3-4 feet since he had a safety rope but still... you know he's scream, followed by a distant roar of 'NERRrRRrRDS!' from the frat house down the block.

They should combine that technology with the whole ground-coffee-in-a-balloong grasping device from the robotics video a few days ago to have a really awesome climbing device. Heck, they could just make an awesome climbing robot and do away with the whole person thing.

I saw an earlier headline about this and didn't think much of it. I assumed that it could be used to climb the glass of a curtain wall, which is old news. To see him climb a brick wall was actually pretty impressive.

Nah, dude, you're burned. Those liberal art kids make a living keeping us tech types grammatically honest. So yeah, sorry man, you're basically a homo. If it makes you feel any better, being a homo is "in" now ... in the back door ... NYUK! NYUK! NYUK!

How is he getting any kind of leverage there? He's holding those things out at arm's length.

His shoes seem to have some sort of strange plastic thing on them. Is that how he's actually getting vertical movement on the building?

Well, I meant it as gentle chiding, not a burn, but take it as you will. Perhaps it's the embarrassment factor that makes it seems worse?

It's the apostrophe thing. It's one item of an actually pretty short list of writing mistakes that don't fall under Didn't Pick That Up in School (because they don't teach it) or Heard It On the Street (because it's specifically a writing error), but instead under I Learned Better But Trusted Idiots Online Instead. And it's not dialectical, either, like "aint'" or "gonna" or such, so not dismissable on those grounds either. It's one of the few things in writing that's Just Plain Wrong.

You're a smart person. You can do better. And you should, because then you'll come across as smart as you really are. Whether you do or not is up to you, and doesn't affect me, but I thought you'd want to know for your own sake.

forecastle = foc'sle ... and not because Simon & Schuster (why am I not surprised "Schuster" has a red underline - most people don't get irony, but I digress) says so, but because formatting dictates design. But you write like a goth girl ... so whatever.

Aw, hells bells, now I've gone and pickle-tickled the Wiccan (Wiccan ... red underlined? A quantum of redemption? ... nope) gods. Ok, Total Farker with the word "snatch" in your handle ... what the hell is a greenlight?

Hey, I'm grateful you patiently explained that to me. Most of the people I meet on the Interweb are cock-sucking douche bags.

Does a liberal interpretation of standard hyphen conventions constitute hate speech? Let's find out.

Here is the very first published definition of the Bruce Foss theorem:

"For someone with nothing to do, why do I feel so overwhelmed?" - in response to a clarification of a detail that does not involve drinking or cutting wood.

Your welcome. ... ??

Fark has its moments... but for the most part... undesirables are quickly identified as such and shunned by the mainstream farkers. There are a few undesirables that hang around but usually they have secondary traits that cause the rest of fark to overlook their 'quirks'... like an extensive collection of bikini/boobs candid photographs and/or the ability to drink to excess and still be somewhat likable at fark parties. fark-ged in law, computer hacking skills, ninja skills, large collection of guns, brush with famous person (held in high esteem by nerds/geeks)...
