I thought that was fan crushed

2012-06-16 09:42:48 PM
It's likely some poor schmuck of a stagehand was killed, not Radiohead's fan.

Not cool.

2012-06-16 09:46:52 PM
Nice. I'd vote it up if it weren't already slated for green.

2012-06-16 09:58:58 PM

Nice headline. It would be more factual if there were actually fans there at the time though.

My friend was going to this. Instead she posted a pic of the collapsed stage.

Went to Downsview Park for Heavy T.O. last year, so I'm really getting a kick out of these replies...

crushd tin box, indeed
/subby is also a terrible person

2012-06-16 11:31:11 PM
Just sad that because of this collapse, someone's pop is dead. I'm sure the set-up crew was expecting no surprises, but apparently some of the metal supports got the bends and left some of the crew high and dry while they were climbing up the walls. Erecting those stages can be like a jigsaw falling into place though. Although I'm sure most fans may feel let down, I'm optimistic that they'll reschedule and get everything in its right place before the fans are packt like sardines in a crushd tin box, but how can you be sure? That's the million dollar question.

2012-06-16 11:31:48 PM
Yeah, this has to be a HOTY contender

2012-06-16 11:40:05 PM
Radiohead: so melancholy it makes stages commit suicide.

Well at least the scalpers probably made some bank!

What the balls. I had tickets to tonight's show. My buddy I was going with phoned me with the bad news. I had to pass the news onto a couple of other people I bought tickets for. I got a note that ticketbastard would refund my ticket purchase within the next 10 days. I would happily give up my refund if it meant the guy who bought it was still alive.

I've never seen these guys live before. Who knows when they'll be around again even if they continue touring.

Bad day. Went to my local to drink my frustrations away.

2012-06-17 01:14:46 AM
I wonder if they had their full stage rig at this show since it was a temporary stage. If you haven't seen their stage setup for this tour, it is (was?) absolutely incredible. Moving panels, HD LED screens made out of recycled plastic bottles, a huge marquee that displayed live action video from the show in random sequences, etc. One of the best stages I've ever seen.

2012-06-17 01:52:05 AM
The only thing that makes me sad is knowing Thom Yorke wasn't killed too. If he had, it would have been a wonderful day for modern music!

This is why I didn't go to the Detroit Radiohead concert.

2012-06-17 02:48:00 AM
Because you knew a stage in Toronto was going to collapse?

Organic Chemistry: I thought that was fan crushed

That's pretty funny, because Radiohead are so shiatty they only have one fan.
Haw haw haw!!
I was almost out the door to go to this concert although I was a bit disconcerted
about having to blow $100 just to see them. DEVO blew through town awhile ago
and it was only 30 bucks. I guess it cost them an extra $70 just to get across the ocean or something.

Pull me outtttt of the stage crash

Oh man I am so creepily happy for a greenlight for a band I love so much that I was paranoid would never make it past the fark haters who are all scatterbrained androids against Radiohead. This touches me.

How do you not like Radiohead? (And stop whispering).

Pop is dead and Radiohead is the new Pink Floyd.

They're bulletproof like I wish I was.

I might be wrong.

Dude, one of the best rock songs OF ALL TIME. Most hardcore Radiohead fans, I think, would agree it's the pinnacle of their work... Or maybe that's just me...
Either way, it's a face-melter.

I finally heard a Sugarland song recently. Are they playing country or making fun of country? It was hard to tell. I've never heard anything else so nasal and twangy. It's like the producer told the engineer to turn the auto-twang machine up to 11 and then rip the knob off.

2012-06-17 09:43:18 AM
Did Thom Yorke start making phony country nasal vocal sounds?

Yes great headline.

Sorry, but EchoMike beat you to it. Nice try though.

\never got Radiohead
\\the fact that Rolling Stone drools when you say their name doesn't help my opinion any

Now Billy Corgan is going to have to kill 5 stage hands just to prove he's still as relevant as radiohead.

/Saw them at Bonnaroo
//Was amazing

This. It's a great one. It was also their first single off OK Computer if I remember correctly.

I'm also disappointed that I missed last night's show. First time I was going to see them. Even my mom was excited for me to go. Really sucks that someone died though.

2012-06-17 03:42:47 PM
The deceased is 33-year-old Scott Johnson, the band's drum technician.
