Hollywood really needs more adult cartoons. Not japanimation, not computer graphics.... honest to god cartoons with adult storylines.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is easily my favorite movie of all time, that and Blade Runner...........well, they're kind of the same.

You're right about that. So very right. I can't think of many North American cartoons that could be classified as truly adult. And by truly adult, I don't mean porn ... Jebus guys, I'm trying to be serious here.

I started wondering a few years ago what Jessica Rabbit would've been like as a classic Film Noir vixen, like in Double Indemnity. I enjoyed that test a lot but what the final product came to is just so iconic now.

Hahaha Fritz the cat and the sequel are two of my all-time favourite movies. An absolute classic must-watch movie.

New Tundercats. Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (spoiler: Hank Pym just had a total mental breakdown in the show, very dark yet appropriate), and Young Justice.

Unfortunately, Disney just axed Avengers and it looks like CN is cancelling Thundercats to put more money into more live action or badly drawn series that you need to smoke a dime bag first to find funny.

Great, mature stuff is out there, the networks just won't support it.

Yup.

I think the animated version of The Boondocks was pretty good, but that was TV - not a movie. A Scanner Darkly was partially animated, I suppose.

Rann Xerox: "P-P-P-Please, Eddie!! I won't jerk my gerkin in an adult movie theater again!!!"

Interesting fact: The "P-P-P-Please" thing was the unscripted creation of the guy who ended up voicing Roger. Pee-wee wouldn't have used it.

//I know, you were cracking a joke.

I hadn't heard that. I has a sad.

Also, another recommendation: The Legend of Korra. I liked Avatar, but I really love Korra so far. There's absolutely no filler episodes.

The early tests were done when the script was closer to the original book "Who Censored Roger Rabbit " in tone long before it became the wacky kid friendly piece it turned into.... You noticed that was Rip Torn playing Eddie Valiant right?

It looks like long lost footage for some Ralph Bakshi film more than anything.

I'm in for the mature (not pron) cartoons. I have plenty of mature themed anime (Grave of the Fireflys, Perfect Blue, etc), but more western animation would be appreciated.

I'd love to see that movie.

Tron: Uprising looks good so far.

The CGI ruins it for me. It just doesn't look good. Voices and story have been okay so far. But there's really no good, purely CGI animated series out there that I enjoy aside from the odd Clone Wars episode.

I'm not sure if it's a done deal or not, just that CN hasn't announced it for it's 2013 line-up. There's still a slim hope that it's on hiatus while Season 2 is made. Because wow...this first season was outstanding and completely blindsided me at the end!

Korra is also amazing, and getting better with each episode. I think that it's confirmed for another season, but it was originally supposed to be a 1-season deal. With the ratings it's pulling in for Nick, I wouldn't be surprised if another season is added, though.

It's confirmed for a season 2. The first season looks to be wrapping up with back-to-back episodes next week. It already has an order for 14 episodes for season 2. I'm not sure how "wrapped up" season 1 will be. I hope to at least learn some details about Amon (who he is, how he does what he does).

The best part about the way Korra is being made is that every episode is being written by the creators, so it is much better plotted and more consistent than Avatar. I've also been surprised at some of the dark themes present in this series: culture war, terrorism, etc. I don't know if they'll go as far as to actually kill a cast member, but it wouldn't surprise me at this point.

Also, real A-list voice cast for a Nick cartoon.

THIS!!

I bought the book a day or tow after watching the movie.
At the time I thought it was the best thing ever and couldn't get over how much different/better the story was.
Quite a find for a 15 year old stoner.

What does look good?

There's plenty of shiatty hand-drawn animation out there too. Don't blame the tech.

Wow. I thought Pee Wee made a pretty good Roger Rabbit.
