Civ II & IV Deity

I don't have time to get into V

I enjoy the hell out of Civ 5, but I do wish the multiplayer was a bit more robust. It stinks to high hell to have someone just quit after 3 hours of setting up your empire.

Both the original civ and freeciv are better.

Civilization? Abstract little toy. Let''s play a REAL strategy game:
dl.dropbox.com

Behold the Irish Empire. Largest in the world by area, second only to China for population. The Emperor of Ireland is also the King of Lithuania, and holds several other nations in vassalage.

Europe, so focused on West, they dind't notice me coming from behind via the East...

Oh Lord I've wasted so many good hours of my life on Civ 4. I wish I had time nowadays to play it again too.

Nothing like that "OH shiat, It's 3 am and you're wife is gonna be pissed when she finds out you're still playing that stupid game.

I'll get off here after one.... more.... turn...."

Not to mention the glazed over feeling on your face or the waiting to pee until your bladder is about to burst.

/Medieval Total Wars too

I had test of time way back when. First game I ever bought off of Amazon, actually. Didn't MGE have an absurdly aggressive AI?

Oh, also I still have Civ 2 for the psx... now all I need is said psx.

DamnYankees: Charlie Freak: There are definitely some glaring issues, but I think the biggest failure of Civ V is unit movement, which severely affects AI routing.

Disagree. The biggest problem with Civ V is that balance of culture growth and production. Borders don't grow fast enough and it takes forever to build things. It really makes the civilization part of the game much less engaging.

civ 5 is different enough that is isn't part of the franchise.

unfortunately, looked at in its own light, it still sucks.

This was posted on Reddit with a much more detailed description of the state of the game and where he was with it.

The short summary basically boils down to: He hit a "sweet-spot" of detente in which the three remaining empires had no way to defeat each other or make peace under the existing setup - and the others being computer controlled, they never changed strategies so it was a perpetual stalemate (unless HE changed something, which he didn't). So it appears he just kept advancing turns repeating the same basic back-and-forth pattern over and over just to see how far it would go - and it apparently goes on forever.

BUT he finally got tired and went to reddit-games to show off his creation and also ask advice for how to finish it. Turns out the answers are pretty straight-forward. He can either keep it going to infinity as is or ditch Democracy and switch to Fundamentalism, which will allow him to play dirty but still keep his people happy ('cause God's on their side), and that should allow him the edge (if played correctly tactically) to "win".

This. Civilization is Duplos. EUIII is Legos quantum engineering.

/Conquered India, China, and Indonesia with Ceylon. Now in an epic war with the entirety of Western Europe.

I was looking at that. I tend to do the "Flee Europe for the New World" thing.
