That's funny. I just started re-watching TKITH last night on Netflix, to see if it stands up after more than 20 years.

The verdict: it largely does. There are skits that miss, but I probably felt the same way back in the day.

I don't know, I used to be a huge fan of The Kids in the Hall, but lately Whites Kids 'U Know is just blowing them away in sheer laugh factor. Sure, the former is more cerebral humor, but it's not as much of a humor gut punch as WKUK.

Kudos for including the theme.

I love, love, love me some Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet.

100% agreed. We went thought all the episodes on DVD about a year or two ago. Absolutely holds up.

El Brujo: No "Rod Torfulson's Armada featuring Herman Menderchuk"??

Also missing Mississippi Gary and The Jazz Hater.

NOTHING makes me feel nostalgic for the 90s like "The Kids in the Hall". I have fond memories of being up at 1 AM on a Friday night with friends and girlfriends, drinking beer and watching that show and laughing our asses off.

Unfortunately, I watched some of it again on Netflix, and it mostly doesn't hold up. I had forgotten how much of that show was just filler. The classic skits everyone knows are still great, but they were few and far between.

poonesfarm: No love for the bass player? Look at that chord structure. There's sadness in that chord structure.

Came for this. List fails w/ out Bass Player.

I knew a lot of Daves in school. I know a lot of them now. I still sometimes sing the song.

Doesn't have an actual song, but still has a music them. One of my faves.

Yeah, I miss them... Have all their albums, and the follow up albums from "Phono-comb"

Shame about Reid Diamond, though.

Tammy's on the list... satisfied.

Tammy vs. the Queen is one of my favourite KITH moments.

The absurdist humour of the Queen running into Tammy at the laundromat and starting to pile fur coats in a washing machine before they reconcile is just amazing.

I can't remember if it had a name, but there was one with a first person POV where a kid's overbearing father kept coming into his room at night and telling him all sorts of things.

That. Back in the day I couldn't understand why so many people loved KITH so much. I thought some of their skits were funny, but I thought the vast majority of the show was retarded, and not in a funny way.

Be sure to check out Atomic 6, then. Great stuff; teensy bit more country, perhaps, but it's still probably right up your alley.

I dunno I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with you. All sketch comedy shows suffer from some filler, but the kids had a tremendous level of consistency for their 5 seasons. I re-watched every episode last summer on Netflix and with the exception of a x-mas special during season 2 (or 1) there were only a handful of episodes that I thought lacked even one good sketch.

Agreed! The State was my first love (I'm 30, so KITH was slightly before my time). I remember singing the theme from "The Jew, The Italian and The Redhead Gay" one summer vacation with the extended family and it caught on, so then all my little cousins started
singing it. My poor parents got a lot of "that girl ain't right" ala Hank Hill from the other parents that summer.

/hope my kids are just as odd

Final contribution to this fine discussion:

That counts as a musical moment, right?

My pen. You've got my pen.

Citizen Kane

Mr. Show was the the only sketchcom that could touch KITH.
