Beowoolfie: Man On A Mission: She got busted using a company vehicle on company time to do personal business and lied about being sick. Everything else is a smokescreen. She deserves what she got.

Why do so many people blindly believe these random corporate CYA quotes? Don't you work for a corporation, too? Haven't you caught your employer lying? In my corporate career, I can only come up with one single organization who didn't routinely lie to the public and its employees whenever it was convenient.

I have personally witnessed 3 people get fired on fabricated evidence because someone in the corp just didn't like them. In 2 of these cases, the reason I know for sure is I was asked to be part of the fabrication. I declined, incidentally. In one of these cases, the employee actually did deserve to be fired, but it was easier for his boss to fabricate evidence of something else than document the mistakes he actually was making.

Am I really the only person this crap happens to? I mean, I don't assume the woman's being truthful either. So far, it's all hearsay on both sides. But how in the world is anyone in America still so innocent they just assume a corporate statement is true?

If they are mistruths, they are are awfully detailed mistruths, and putting them in writing -- especially when action is already being mounted -- would risk enormous exposure to liability. If any of it's proven fabricated -- or even unsupportable as asserted -- then the company is taking a huge risk by lying. I don't think they're lying about those details. Even as I acknowledge they may well have wanted her out for other reasons. These would be legitimate reasons on their own, and that's all they'd need. If they can document it to the satisfaction of a court, that should be good enough to withstand a challenge.

And this is coming from someone who's been fired before on fabricated evidence, and even baseless claims. (In the '90s, employers had to become a lot more creative about how to fire queers. And they met that challenge.) So I do understand your point. I just don't think that's what's going on here.

"Awareness" is a word used when a group has no legitimate reason to exist.

whizbangthedirtfarmer: Some of the breastfeeding folks out there are just short of nuts. I knew a lady who decided to forgo breastfeeding, and, as a result, was constantly told that she was not a good mother, that the kid should be taken away, that she was setting him up for failure, and so on. I thought this was an outlier until our daughter was born; she was allergic to breastmilk, and, as a result, we had to pick up a lot of formula. There were some moms out there who would stop us and complain that we weren't breastfeeding the child. Complete strangers.

I got that when buying formula for my adopted baby. The breastfeeding nazis are quite intrusive and feel like they deserve an answer to 'why aren't you breastfeeding?". I had one follow me all around Kroger wanting to know why I didn't love my baby enough to breastfeed her.

Meh, lawyer up all you want, it wont help.

You're unfamiliar with how this works:

Step 1, do something stupid and get fired (check)
Step 2, hire lawyer and propose settlement (check)
Step 3, if the entity in question prefers tons of bad PR and ending up settling later, air the grievance in the press (check)
Step 4, someone higher up on the food chain realizes that one of their subordinates is a farking moron, works out a settlement and the plaintiff gets paid, lawyer gets paid (pending)

Considering that's what breasts are designed to do. . . No, it's not a waste of boob.

And if you actually did do that (but I'm guessing you're just an ITG), you would be sexually harassing someone who is just trying to feed their child. Or would you rather listen to the kid scream?

I'd be torn, I think. On the one hand, I'd want to assert that it's my choice and none of their farking business.

On the other hand, looking back at them mournfully and saying "It's been so hard since the cancer," would almost be worth ceding that to make them feel like the assholes they otherwise refuse to acknowledge that they are.

As it turned out, like many women my wife couldn't produce enough breastmilk so we fed our son formula and I got him eating solid foods quite early. After reading about some of the foods people give their children around the world we skipped rice cereal and stuff from jars and I just fed him what we were eating, all mashed up. He especially liked spicy stuff.

Almost eight years later, he's just finished the first grade. He reads at a sixth grade level, is a blue belt in mixed martial arts, and the 12 year old girl across the street cant stay away from him. So it seems that breastmilk is overrated. Oh, and he eats anything and everything. Some of his favorites are vietnamese tripe pho, any kind of sushi, and any kind of super spicy food.

So perhaps its the parents who keep breastfeeding their child past 6 months who are being bad parents...

To be fair, I did have to spend $10 on a small food processor and a full 20 seconds bending the tines of a fork over to make it a mini masher.

No, there are people who think it's totally cool to harass someone just because they're doing something that bothers them, even if it's legal. I've been told I should just stay home with the baby while I'm breastfeeding just because this particular guy was uncomfortable with it. 'The Catalogue of Anti-Male Shaming Tactics'

From http://menforjustice.net/;-

"Shaming tactics." This phrase is familiar to many Men's Rights Activists. It conjures up the histrionic behavior of female detractors who refuse to argue their points with logic. Yet women are not the only ones guilty of using shaming tactics against men. Male gynocentrists use them, too.

Shaming tactics are emotional devices meant to play on a man's insecurities and shut down debate. They are meant to elicit sympathy for women and to demonize men who ask hard questions. Most, if not all, shaming tactics are basically ad homimem attacks.

Anyway, it might be helpful to categorize the major shaming tactics that are used against men whenever a discussion arises about feminism, men's issues, romance, etc. The following list contains descriptions of shaming tactics, some examples of quotes employing the tactics, and even color-coded aliases for mnemonic purposes. Enjoy.
http://exposingfeminism.wordpress.com/shaming-tactics/

While this is marginally more relevant here than the last time I saw you post it, it is no less stupid.

Nice ad hominem.

If we're going with trailer-hauling analogies, I'd say it's more apt that adult male sexual use of breasts is like using a trailer hitch as a butt-plug.

Considering the results of our daughter's allergy was internal bleeding, I did feel torn on telling them that breastmilk would slowly kill her if given to her in regular quantities. But then I decided to just spend my energy trying to keep myself from whomping them on the forehead with the can of formula.

Oh absolutely. You can educate 99% of the population about the dangers of wildfires, but the same stupid farking idiots with no brains will still start the same fires. You'll recognize the soon-to-be culprits at the boat launch, pulling their boat out with the stern drive still down. Later they'll light the park on fire.

What does it matter to you?

Me, I do it for convenience. Had a taste of formula-feeding someone elses' infant and I didn't like having to get up every two hours and fix a bottle while the baby cried. So much easier to just pull my baby into bed and latch her on.

In public, I don't stand up and scream "OK BREASTMILK COMING OUT", I do it casually, I don't make a big deal out of it, most people either don't notice or don't say anything.

So why don't YOU have some maturity and respect for those of us who are trying to be subtle about it and just go about our day

When did you start solid feeding him?

When I first started reading about breastfeeding vs. formula, I got the impression that breast was the only good way to go. Then my mom told me I rejected her milk at 4 months, and my husband told me he was always formula-fed, so now I feel better about my options. That said, I would prefer to breastfeed because I'm cheap and it requires less equipment to haul around.

There are people who are actually skeeved by the sight of public breastfeeding, and another group comprised of males who are simply outraged that the women are getting away with something. I'll tell you right now, I've sexually harassed women for a lot less than that.

Breasts are designed to make men happy. Thats why they are so big. No other animal has big breasts. They might put out milk a couple times, but they do much more attracting than they do producing.

But I've seen the light and I feel terrible. Breastfeeding, urinating or defecating in public, I support them all. Next time I see a woman breastfeeding I'm gonna whip it out and piss in a bottle to show my support.

Mouths are for eating, but we also enjoy kissing with them, and ultimately a ton of other things about human sexuality are very different from that of other animals. The fact that you enjoy a tit does not change the fact that these secondary sex organs' primary role in continuing the species is in feeding.

And I seriously do not understand why so many dudes act like they are soooo upset that women have some kind of mad exclusive privileges by being able to breastfeed in public. "But why can't I take a shiat in public... it's not faaaaair." You want that privilege? Go start a farking movement (no pun intended.) You pro-public-defecation Men's Rights folks lack conviction.

Well, where I'm at it's very very late, so I'm going to bed. 'Night all.

Troublesome Strumpet: The_Gallant_Gallstone: Polyhazard: How about this: If you give birth to a smaller human who relies on secretions from your cawk for sustenance, you may be my guest.

Let me counteroffer: if the civilized infrastructure of our society collapses and the rich variety of milks and supplements offered by our fine merchants and fellow-citizens is no longer available, you may be my guest.

Have you looked at this guy's profile? Do you really think you might have a mature conversation with him?

According to TFA, she didn't file a complaint.

She got busted using a company vehicle on company time to do personal business and lied about being sick. Everything else is a smokescreen. She deserves what she got.

She is working hard to promote breastfeeding, why do you hate the mother/child bond? Are you jealous or just sexist?

Adoptive parents bond just as well with infants as do natural parents, and without the bond formed by skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding.

The science, it's kinda backing away slowly from you.

You quote "science" and then go on to assume that all adoptive mothers won't breastfeed an infant, presumably because its not hers?

That seems...illogical.

Have you ever sucked a titty? You do realize that the tit does not just dispense milk whenever it's sucked on? There has to be a pregnancy preceding it.

Breastfeeding awareness group? So, what? They walk around talking to women, "Hey, did you know your fun bags can dispense milk?! Spread the word!"

"Awareness" is a word used when a group has no legitimate reason to exist.

So Smokey the Bear was worthless?

Smokey THE bear. What part of the word "groups" do you not understand?

/I like breasts
//Women can feed their crotchfruit form their fun-buckets in front of me any time they want
///I will defend the right to breastfeed with my life . . or at least until I am full

Pete_T_Mann: Troublesome Strumpet: Pete_T_Mann: Sounds like she was an annoying PIA that they were happy to get rid of. I'm sure everyone at her workplace was tired of constantly getting lectured on breastfeeding rights and the "horrible oppression of women in the US"

Breastfeeding is gross. I dont want to see that crap. Waste of a boob too. Its kind of like using a corvette to haul a trailer. However, I think I'll adopt the stare plan mentioned earlier. Maybe with a couple winks and nods thrown in. "Hey baby, nice breast. Can I be next?"

Considering that's what breasts are designed to do. . . No, it's not a waste of boob.

And if you actually did do that (but I'm guessing you're just an ITG), you would be sexually harassing someone who is just trying to feed their child. Or would you rather listen to the kid scream?

I'll tell you right now, I've sexually harassed women for a lot less than that.

Breasts are designed to make men happy. Thats why they are so big. No other animal has big breasts. They might put out milk a couple times, but they do much more attracting than they do producing.

But I've seen the light and I feel terrible. Breastfeeding, urinating or defecating in public, I support them all. Next time I see a woman breastfeeding I'm gonna whip it out and piss in a bottle to show my support.

Noble intent, but if they're breastfeeding, where are you going to get a bottle?

Enjoy.

While this is marginally more relevant here than the last time I saw you post it, it is no less stupid.

Seriously, "SHUT THE fark UP YOU VAPID TWAT!!" has worked for me for years. (Sing it to them for a real laugh) No need to dissect what the women say, just respond to insults and vulgarity with insults and vulgarity. (Note: Not like this for all women, just the vulgar, insulting ones). Laughing the entire time helps too, boy does that piss some people off.

I think it's great that companies are forced to give a specific gender a long period of paid time off and not the other gender to deal with a voluntary medical condition, what's better is that when women get this time off you can't complain that all of their work is being shoved onto you.

Not sure how it's justifiable to a client to bill them for time when the employee you have assigned to them is out for a month.

/No you can't just throw anyone on a project when it requires clearance

MarkEC: I like seeing breast-feeding in public. What I don't get is why the women often give you a dirty look when they see you watching. If your gonna whip out your boob in public, I'm gonna look at it.

I already have a dirty look, so an extra one never bothers me.

There is no required, paid maternity leave in the US, so unless you are posting from Sweden or something, perhaps you should settle your ass down because you simply don't know what you are talking about.
