Scots ref team should feel at home.

Does it rain like that in Scotland? London rain is more of a mist, 95% of the time

Yes, oh my god yes. I'd like to live somewhere warm and sunny one day. London is a lot warmer than north of the Antonine Wall.

I spent a fabulous, sunny October weekend in Edinburgh once, so my viewpoint is muddled.

I challenge you Sir, to do it TWICE.

September is probably the best month for weather. Hope it is true this year, as I'm signed up for the Glasgow -> Edinburgh bike ride. Doing it on a Brompton!

adventure in england that "didn't go as plan," yeah, that's sort of the mark of being a scoring threat at euro 2012. flop in the premiership. dominate the euros.

I do need to make it to St. Andrews before I depart the island, so there's a distinct possibility

terrible call

2012-06-16 04:06:57 PM
interesting no call there...

2012-06-16 04:06:57 PM
Refs just missed a penalty kick for Greece, calling it a dive with obvious contact. Terrible.

Finally a team the refs hate more than the US.

Karagounis just went full DeNiro

this is why teams should be able to appeal these cards.

If that Greek gets any madder, he may turn into the Hulk.

No, not the Brazilian.

2012-06-16 04:07:38 PM
Should have been a pen, but I've seen them not given.

But never a yellow for simulation. There was definite contact.

2012-06-16 04:08:04 PM
Watching both games at the same time (as far as possible), it looks like Greece-Russia is more entertaining despite the other two having to score atm if they don't want to go home.

i'm surprised we ahven't seen whomever owns the "Kholman Coulibaly" login name in UEFA.

He was even posting during the NFL season. whenever a bad call was made he would come in with the predictable, "I see nothing wrong with the call the ref made, he should be appluaded for his courage and application of the rulebook" shtick.

Bill SImmons jumping on the Ελλάς train any minute now, for the "they didn't believe in us" factor

That deserved a red... wow.

2012-06-16 04:13:04 PM
Is he trying to exorcize that call away like a demon or something?

2012-06-16 04:13:22 PM
Zhirkov is a lucky boy there, could have been red.

2012-06-16 04:14:01 PM
At this point I'm just hoping for the Pol/Czh dram, Russia playing like shiat, should be down 2-0.

Wow, what a shot.

Great goal

Also goodbye Russia, unless they get a goal back.

Wasn't expecting that after they demolished the Czechs last week.

Ivan Drago in for Russia

2012-06-16 04:16:22 PM
Meh, that was a rather simplistic attempt to draw a penalty by the Greek guy.
Usually people complain when players aren't carded for something like that.

/card was probably for biatching about the call, though

I thought goal differential was the 1st tie break. Greece would need 2 more goals.

Euro uses head-to-head tiebreakers first.

BS offsides call

2012-06-16 04:18:57 PM
WITH all the inside the box action giong on, this game is going to come down to either a missed dive or a blatant penalty, which does nto bode well for the ref.

Streaming both games on ESPN.com now. When did ESPN start streaming live games from their website? Even saw both the NBA playoff games.

They've been doing it on ESPN3 for a while now. But it's up to your cable provider to pay them a bit extra for the privilege. But if your cable company does you can log in from any computer after you log into your cable provider.

I've seen worse. It was a 50/50 call. When in doubt I give the benefit to the officials as they have much better training than the various drunk fans, blind commentators, and annoying players who biatch about the calls.

It started with ESPN 360, which became ESPN3, in 2005. If your cable provider pays the extra fee, you get it as a part of your internet plan.

good chance greece....russia was way to cash on that. that could well have been goodnight irene despite a 2 v 4 outmanned

2012-06-16 04:24:34 PM
After being so impressive in the first game, I wonder what odds you could've got on Russia not going through.

2012-06-16 04:25:38 PM
doesn't it seem like Russia has sent in like, 4 subs?

I actually agree with that. Should I be worried.

Russia should bring everybody on the next attack, if thety do not score they are going home. 1-0 same as 2-0

Dissension should be carded every time. Whiny players distract from the beauty of the game.

I'm just waiting the post game "russian fans are racist" update now that FIFA threatened the country with a 6 point hit if they don't stop the racism.

This is why refs will sometimes call them for flopping even if there's contact. You reap what you sow.
That said, Russia has looked so bad that they deserve to go home. That, and having Greece go up against Germany in the next round should be fun.

2012-06-16 04:35:06 PM
I love how the ref keeps shushing the players :P

2012-06-16 04:35:27 PM
4 more minutes... russia should have scored a few times.
