I have nothing against George Clooney, I think he's a fine actor depending on the role, but Batman? Oh my god no, so wrong, so very very wrong. I felt deeply sorry for Arnold in that movie, he even said in interviews that he was miserable and in pain having to wear that god awful Mr. Freeze costume.

And now they're about to possibly do something equally stupid to the Superman movie franchise with a built in codpiece? I mean, I understand updating the outfit some from the Christopher Reeve days, that's cool and all, but I do not like the new outfit, not one bit. The codpiece really sealed the deal on my hate for the new design, the irony is, with the last superman movie, I remember reading stories about how the actor is so well endowed they had to Photoshop his package so he wasn't putting people's eyes out through the movie screen.

if it weren't for that cod piece the plastic would just be mashing his junk into his pelvis.

... but why were there no nipples on the Batgirl costume?

Eh, I blame the directer, Shumaker and the Godawful dialog. There's no reason why Clooney couldn't have been a good Batman in the right hands.

Well her uncle Alfred made it for her. Apparently there's a limit to Schumaker's depravity.

The Batman story itself is kind of weird. I mean, he takes in a young boy whose parents had just died, puts him in inappropriately short pants, and sends him out to fight homicidal maniacs?

An uncle crafting nipples for his niece's costume isn't quite as depraved as that. Besides, as far as we know, Babs had those Bai Ling nipples, and could have used the extra room so she didn't chafe.

That's probably why movie Robin was in his mid 20s.

I suppose that's a good point, the choice of actors was a lesser issue compared to the actual movie itself. Bad sets, bad script, just bad everything. I personally didn't like him as Bruce Wayne, and then having him be Batman felt corny. But if they had done the movie with the 1989 costume and props and such, then my opinion of him would probably be completely different.

Filmmakers who come late to the party and think they know the characters better than the fans who have grown up with them and have read every page for twenty years are not getting the point of what makes these films tentpole draws.

Right, because Zach Snyder never read a comic book.

Superman is an alien from another planet. Don't understand why he looks just like a human to begin with.

I am not sure this is a new thing. I remember reading that they couldn't decide which side Superman "hangs" so Chris Reeve wore a cup

Clooney would have had to do more than tweak his nipples to make that piece o' crap Batman movie into something worthy of nestling in the $2 bin at Walmart. He could have started by tweaking (throttling) the neck of his agent and then anyone involved in the production of the film.

Hey, the dude's battling supervillains day in day out, is it unreasonable for him to want to protect his family jewels? One kryptonite toe-cap to the supernads and the bloke's a gonner. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

The best part of Batman Arkham Asylum/City is Bats' incredible codpiece. And I'm not even gay for Batman.

Forget the codpiece. I think Aquaman's gonna be pissed that Superman raided his closet and then personalized his clothes.

Honestly looking at the picture, to me it looks more like a product of the mannequin its on not the fact that theres an actual codpiece in it. but hey, keep up the manufactured outrage and all.

For the people who think the red underwear are stupid and outdated...well, this is why they're important...

It apparently made him want to fark his housekeeper since the kid was born nine months after this was filmed.

I wondered that to at first, but looking at the other stories, found this picture from some action scene in the movie. It's not as pointy as the suit in the display case, but it's a pretty sizable bulge. And why would you give a mannequin a huge bulge anyway?

Nope, it's a codpiece.

Is it just me, or does the guy in the sunglasses look like Gregg Henry?

The entire suit is contour curved. The muscle contours are already there, they're not from the actor.

Why would the crotch be any different? Are people seriously annoyed because it's not the actor's actual penis deforming the suit? They're not his biceps or abdominals either.

2012-06-16 09:59:08 AM
Didn't they do this to pretty much all the New 52 male costumes anyway? You'd think they were all reincarnations of Henry VIII or something.

Somewhat off topic:

I think the last guy that played Superman did just fine. Fark this remake of a remake of a remake of a special effects crapfest that is coming.

Somewhat even more off topic:

that channel TheHub is playing The Adventures of Lois & Clark currently. I watched the 1st episode and despite me remembering how awesome it was & how hot Lois was (before I saw her nasty saggy teets in that god awful movie), it just didn't do it for me.

Clark was in his crappy utility apartment and walked up and down the walls like a ghost. It was stupid as hell.

2012-06-16 10:01:48 AM
I still think they should have gotten Tom Welling and everyone else from Smallville for the movie.

Again with the codpiece story?

So, since this flick is getting the same idiotic hype, I assume it's gonna be as idiotically bad as the last one. Sad.

I guess hollywood will keep re-writing the same story over and over again until the sheep quit going.

Seriously. how many farking superman movies do we need?

Imagine the size of the nutsack on the next batman movie.

Batman's not in this one and he's the only one I can imagine who would make kryptonite-toed combat boots.

Although seriously, why has he never done that before?

2012-06-16 10:07:33 AM
Fairly sure it was the prior movie Batman Forever in which Val Kilmer first showcased the "Batnipples" accessory.

2012-06-16 10:08:57 AM
I have to admit, I kind of like the new look. The red underwear always looked silly to me.

That said, yeah, they seriously need to downsize that bulge a little. A cup is good -- I'd really prefer to ignore Superman's package -- but this makes it look like he's got a constant hard-on.

Fortunately, the hysterical erotophobes who keep our nation safe from such atrocities as "nip slips" will force the studio to go back in and digitally geld the Man of Steel.

/A friend of mine once had the enviable job of digitally lengthening Elizabeth Shue's skirt in a scene from Hollow Man.

Came to say this. If you're outraged about the 'codpiece' where's your outrage about the sculpted chest and biceps?

/it's all in the mannequin.

I'm not really a Superman fan but I'm really hoping they get a decent movie out of this one. It seems to be a shame one of the most popular heroes ever can't seem to get a good movie (recently). And I wish they would stop with all the Dark Knight comparisons. As far as I'm concerned, Nolan's Batman is just like a graphic novel like The Killing Joke or Red Son. Just a different authors viewpoint of a well established character set in a self containing story line. This Superman movie is supposed to be the first strike in the supposed Justice League movie franchise that judging from the way WB has Three Stooges their way into making them, doesn't look very promising.

And off topic but I wanted to thank Fark for a few recommendations. I started volume 1 of Transmetropolitan and volume 2 of The Boys and I'm loving them. In fact, if I can find a high quality photo of this, it's going on a poster for my wall.

Sorry, but no matter the reboots, I'll still have a special place in my heart for Christopher Reeve's Man of Steel.
