I am a gun-owner, a lover of all kinds of target shooting, an NRA member, a 2nd amendment supporter, etc etc etc.

There is NO REASON on earth why you should be pointing a weapon at a 4 year-old. None.

His weapons should be confiscated and he should be banned from ever owning a weapon of any sort again. He has demonstrated quite clearly he is incapable of safely handling a weapon.

And I believe most NRA members would agree with me. No one hates irresponsible use of firearms more than people who like guns.

On the off chance you're not trolling like these Trayvon idiots, let me help you out:

As a gun owner myself, let me assure you that there is absolutely, positively, no reason whatsoever why this man should have even displayed a firearm in this situation, much less pointed one at another human being. A four year old is no threat to a grown man or woman unless that four year old is the living incarnation of Satan (and even then, it's questionable). The ONLY reason ever to draw and aim a firearm is if your life or the life of another is in very real, very significant danger of being ended by the person you are aiming that firearm at.

You. Do. Not. EVER. Point. A. Firearm. Of. Any. Kind. At. Anyone. Or. Anything. You. Are. Not. Completely. Prepared. To. Obliterate.

The neighborhood kids burning rubber in my driveway is not now, nor will it ever be, a legitimate reason for me to use deadly force. And yes, I live in a state where both Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground are on the books and are highly unlikely to be revised or removed regardless of what some bullshiat politically motivated crap in FL based on lies has to say about it. I was also raised in a house full of guns and taught to properly use them when I was 12. No one with any sense who owns a gun can possibly condone this man's actions.

You are a member of an organization that actively lobbies and campaigns to make it more difficult to refuse arms to lunatics and criminals. That also lobbies and campaigns to make laws that essentially legalize execution style murder, dueling, and gangfighting. If you really believe what you say you believe, you shouldn't be supporting the NRA.

Fulcher ordered the kids to put their hands on their heads, get off the vehicle and lie down on the ground. The 16-year-old driver apologized, but Fulcher cocked the hammer on the revolver and pointed the gun at the driver's head and told him he'd be the "first to go." He kept his finger on the trigger.

Another child attempted to garner some sympathy from Fulcher, telling him it was one girl's birthday. Fulcher was unmoved. "Well, this will be a birthday she won't forget," Fulcher said.

What?! What the holy hell is wrong with this guy??

Two of the children were praying. Fulcher was agitated throughout the incident, repeatedly asking the driver if he understood what would happen to him if he pulled the trigger.

Ah, ok...

clowncar on fire: Again- you'd have to know the old guy's intent, or whether he even had bullets in the gun. I'm going with a seriously stupid attempt to terrify the kids (with no actual intent of deadly harm). Having the oldest call his mom seems like the coup d'grace as the teen would now have to confront his mom about where he had been with the ATV. Once the old guy was faced with an adult, he did keep the gun holstered and allowed her to take her brood.

Assault: Action by defendant intended to place plaintiff in fear or apprehension of imminent harm, and which does cause such fear or apprehension.
Aggravated Assault: Use of a weapon in an assault.

It doesn't matter if he "just wanted to scare the kids," in fact, that's the element of assault. His intent was to scare them shiatless thinking he was going to kill them--and he succeeded admirably by his own account. I'm sure the 4-year old was traumatized, although that doesn't seem to bother you either. Even if he lacked any "intent of deadly harm," he can't get off with that excuse.

Put it another way. If this guy walked into a 7-11 and pulled the same stunt, he'd be charged with armed robbery, even if his "intent" was never to pull the trigger. So don't be minimizing it by saying "oh, he never meant to hurt them." He MEANT to scare them to death, and he did that.

If I read TFA correctly, the gun was trained on the 16y/o almost the entire time and he was just being an asshole to the rest of the kids

I get the job done, but it is never to his satisfaction, so he files a bullshiat complaint that has just enough plausible deniability behind it and I get written up. If I get enough writeups I have to take Customer Service courses and have supervisor ride-alongs. It's the exact opposite thing when my coworkers go there because I refuse or am unavailable from time to time. The only balance is the few customers that write glowing 4-5 star ratings about my work and I have to literally beg them for those written comments / calls to keep my job. My bosses know that he is full of shiat, but are also afraid of lawsuits because he has a minor learning disability that he hides behind, so nothing happens. It's my nearly dream job, my life, my happiness and this shiatbag is ruining it for me.

At least sometimes he steps over the bounds in public or in front of my bosses and lets his true colors show, and that's how my bosses know he is full of shiat and that gives me a reprieve from his behavior / requests for a few ...

Is there no way to tell your superiors that you will not deal with this farker anymore? Most jobs I've worked, if an employee had a personal problem, issue, or dislike of a particular customer and it was a valid one, that customer would be told, "Oh John doesn't do that anymore, this is Chris, he'll be helping you from now on", or some such BS. Me? I'd go out of my way to make his life hell without him knowing it's me. Sugar in the gas tank, slashed tires, 20 gallons of motor oil on his lawn at 2am, you know just shiat to cost the guy an amazing amount of money for your trouble.

But then I tend to be a huge prick that is great at holding a grudge, quite often.

And that's what it's like to be there. Your issue is not "big" enough to warrant intervention by the authorities and superiors, but big enough to be a detriment to the quality of life. And if you think I haven't tried getting a court order against that cancer... I very nearly broke down, cried, and wanted to kill myself on the spot when I saw how buddy-buddy he was with the Judge. Which I get (sort of) for the politicians, job preservation. How did the general public become so farking partisan? Seems like the only agenda those in power want to push anymore is getting the public at large to turn on one another. I'm 30 and I can't remember Democrats and Republicans openly hating each other and working against each other as much as now, even if it is to the detriment of the country. Strange times, in that the public seems content to go right along with it.

The public has become lazy and complacent. They're constantly bombarded with news about "them" who are trying to destroy and turn the "us". Everything needs some kind of reason for happening, a scapegoat to be blamed, because the mindset of America is to blame everything on anything. We're all still terrified from 9/11, we see boogiemen everywhere, and it crept into all aspects of life. A country that once rose up as one to strike back and defend the world after a military base was surprise attacked collectively shiat its pants in terror when extremists brought down two skyscrapers.

Weep for the once-proud nation of America. Pity the shell of its former self it has become. Pray that it can rise from its ashes before it is completely consumed.

It was less 9/11 itself, and more the Bush administration's open exploitation of 9/11 for partisan gain that turned Americans against each other.

As an NRA instructor... I suspect you really don't know very much about the NRA at all. I can't speak directly for the NRA, but I can assure you that all the NRA curriculum that I teach says that pointing guns (loaded or unloaded) at harmless children is a very bad thing.

Irrelevant. You don't point weapons at children, unless there is a verifiable likelihood that they are the Walking Dead. It doesn't matter of these children were wearing clown costumes and dripping fresh blood.

At what point is being a prick a shootable offense? Cause, honestly I don't have enough ammo for FARK.

Look at how stupid you are.

Or look at how you have no experience with kids on ATVs, snowmobiles, dirt bikes or other "toys" ripping up your property and then "informing" you that they have the right to to do so because you don't have it posted.

Or look at how you probably don't have a neighbor who got sued because a bunch of kids with ATVs were trespassing on his property, one of them rolled it and was seriously injured. The neighbor got sued for not doing enough to keep kids off his property. He won the suit but it cost him a fortune in legal fees. He figures it would be easier to just shoot the little bastards. That way, it's a criminal charge and the state pays for your lawyer.

Guns r cool man

If you successfully get rid of all of the guns people will just start stabbing each other. Then we will ban all knives and people will start beating each other to death with sticks. So we will burn down every last tree so there will be no more sticks. This will continue until we are left with nothing but nice fluffy soft pillows which I will use to smother you to death. You see how guns are not the problem.

QFT. You all remember a few days back - some guy beat another guy to death with his hands after his daughter was molested. In Texas, where they have many guns, this guy didn't need any.

i've witnessed many guys hit the 60-65 area and go nuts on the nicest trees on their property. suddenly all those lovely old trees are deemed a threat and down they go. my own dad felled two huge wonderful evergreens that were each over two stories high, one on either side of the walkway leading to the front of their house. go figure.

our mom is in her 80's and recently had small strokes. now she's barely there, only able to feed herself and repeat the same story incessantly.

Unused two track through the woods, and all of a sudden guy with shotgun is aiming at the lead 4x4 looking rather pissed we're tearing up his "back driveway". You can see his house through a break in the trees, but this was not a driveway by any stretch of the imagination. We thought we were on a designated offroading trail too.

He let us go at least. And thankfully none of the people in our group that were armed brandished their guns.
