I don't really care what people say. A healthy, performing Tiger Woods is good for the game of golf. Hookers, call girls, and escorts be damned.

2012-06-15 10:36:45 AM
If this were Sunday and he were three shots back from the lead, I'd be agreeing with the headline. But it's Friday, and he still has 3 rounds in which to either play fantastically, or blow it completely. All it takes is one bad hole to make him implode in a John Daly-esque ball of goo. I hope he wins, and I hope he comes back big time, but I'm not sure an opening round in one major is enough to call it a win for Tiger and announce that he's back.

Agreed. Although I think the talent level on the PGA is the best it has been in a decade or so, Tiger has the best chance of breaking Jack's record in our lifetime. That, to me, is exciting to see.

I do enjoy watching golf more when Tiger is playing well and he certainly has things moving in the right direction. This afternoon will be a big test, seems the course is playing harder as it dries out but it is nice to see him in contention again.

Before I liked to watch Tiger win because it was an in your face of the douchey, rich white folk

No I like to watch him win because so many people hate him.. even though he's a total douche.

Really the issue is I don't really give a crap about anybody else out there for golf.

Considering the way Tiger plays....I'd put more money on him playing well the next three days and winning versus him coming from 3 back on a Sunday.

While I agree, I also get why some people get annoyed when every article I've read on the Open is almost entirely about a guy tied for second. But that is not the PGA's fault and, honestly, not even the writers'. Tiger is bigger news than the rest of the players combined.

It would be so awesome if Tiger Woods embraced this persona of a womanizing playboy and flashed it in everyone's faces for games, the Nature Boy of golf. Can he get a Hooters waitress to be his caddy for a game? "Hold my putter, honey. I'll let you hold the wood later. WOOOOOO!"

It's not like FIGJAM or Bubba are going to win it after that first round. Bubba is looking like someone who can't handle fame. Luke McDonald also puked all over himself.

Why not Tiger?

I love watching Tiger win. And I love watching LeBron win. Tiger's an ass but he's just goddam amazing out there. LeBron's probably just a little into himself. Whatever, haters can hate, they are farking awesome at their sport and it's just fun to watch guys like that at the top of their game, doesn't matter what sport.

I still remember the crazy long 4 set Sampras-Agassi match, when those guys were nearing the end of their careers. Best match ever. Same reason I love watching Tiger in the Open.

Then again, I'm not going to point at Tiger Woods and be like "Son, I want you to be like Tiger in life. Get married and then bang some skanks on the side."

I don't think Lebron is too into himself and that's his biggest problem. He's not a great self motivator and cares too much about his teammates. When he just needs to say Fark all of you. Im the best and im going to win this damn game.

Tiger is that way. Or once was.

I never said he was too into himself, maybe just a little though - shiat at that level...

I think he's shown he can play with fire. He's taken over several games. I think sometimes though he doesn't have that sharklike aggression he needs to take it. I think it's starting to surface a bit. We'll see what happens in the finals, so far I haven't seen it but he showed it in game 6 against the Celtics.

Or he's come from behind 21 times on a Sunday... But that number is close to zero.

From link: Now 21 of his wins have come from behind on a Sunday, with this the fifth of a four-shot rally or more.

I'd agree. LeBron is in many ways too damn nice, which is why it is hard to stay mad at him. Kobe, Jordan, Bird, Magic? Those guys can be serious assholes, particularly when they are losing. Which is why they won more than people with many of the same or superior physical gifts.

I think playing college ball would have helped LeBron, He might well have not won a title, particularly if he went to tOSU, but he might have learned that it is expected of a talent like himself to put a team on his shoulders and carry them.

Let's all calm down here.

LeBron is a super spoiled, entitled, mega douche. He's just not ultra mega douche like Kobe or TO, etc.

Anybody with Chosen 1 in huge letters on their back is a mega douche. The fact that he likes to pass the ball doesn't change that fact.

What irks me the most about this is that Gloria Allred has become a legalized extortionist.

Seriously, I am not a lawyer.... can someone PLEASE explain to me what Allred did wasn't extortion? I don't get it. She basically acted as a middle party between Uchitel and Tiger and said, "pay her 10 million dollars or we'll talk."

Just to be clear, I didn't call Kobe a douche, I said he was an asshole when losing, which is why he is so great. LeBron seems to want to be liked, particularly by his teammates, whereas Kobe wants to win, teammates be damned, particularly if they aren't carrying their weight or are crying about touches or minutes.

Yes its just FANTASTIC when one name overshadows a whole sport. What a great situation when for a year after he is an also-played he gets miore press than the winners and leaders. What a wonderful thing for golf. Couldnt be better alrighty.

Unless you call him a ballhog, then he'll refuse to shoot for the second half of a game 7 while openly pouting on the court while the team loses by 30. It proves a point, or something.

Well, people watch TMZ on TV, so I'm sure the PGA would like to have viewers again. Besides, how is that legacy to golf any better than the old one, "See? Golf's not elitist and racist, we have a black star!"

What Tiger did was mess with cosmic forces of nature. He had the perfect life, beautiful wife, kids, money, fame, perfect swing, He had it all. And he traded it all in for some bustop floozy, a waitress and a whore....When you mess with cosmic forces of nature, you're a scumbag. He'll never catch Jacks record. Qualified this year. 14 years after he successfully sued the PGA to use a cart in a US Open. He's the gold coach at Oregon these days and just went to a qualified with a few of his players...and won a spot.

He hadn't for a long time - golf coach at U of Oregon now.... But I guess he said "WTH," entered a qualifying tourneyment, and qualified. He's sitting at +9, which is well outside the cut at the moment - but the leaders just teed off, and the course is getting faster... If the leaders move back a few shots, he's got a chance. cheers
