The Texans and the Lions are obviously way, way closer to reaching that point than we are.

At least we aren't the Jaguars.

I'd bet on the Lions or Chargers first.

Lets face it, with the Saints down, it's either going to be the Giants or Packers from the NFC and the Patriots in the AFC.

2012-06-15 12:15:42 PM
Of the teams that haven't won it, I'm pretty sure the Lions are the closest. But let's all jump on the Cam Newton bandwagon and say Carolina.

I'm pretty sure Warren Sapp just announced he's joining the lawsuit in suing the NFL over concussions and not that he actually thinks the Browns will win a Super Bowl in our lifetime.

Considering that they've never even played in a Super Bowl and haven't even sniffed the playoffs since 2002, I don't see this happening.

Here's a list of teams that have never won a Superbowl:

Atlanta Falcons
Arizona Cardinals
Buffalo Bills
Carolina Panthers
Cincinnati Bengals
Cleveland Browns
Detroit Lions
Houston Texans
Jacksonville Jaguars
Minnesota Vikings
Philadelphia Eagles
Tennessee Titans
San Diego Chargers
Seattle Seahawks

Of those, I would say the top five, in vague (didn't put too much thought into it) order of likelihood to win it all first:
1. Houston Texans
2. San Diego Chargers
3. Detroit Lions
4. Atlanta Falcons
5. Philadelphia Eagles

I was going to try to rank all of them, but after these 5 and maybe the Panthers, the teams are all pretty hopeless as it stands right now.

The Texans have a great chance of making the playoffs for the next few years, with the Colts rebuilding. The Lions, Falcons, and Eagles all have formidable opponents in their conferences (Falcons might have it a bit easier this year because of the Saints).

If I were putting money on it, I would say the Texans. Good QB, great running game, 1 amazing WR, improving defense, all combined with a fairly easy path to the playoffs for a few years. Once you're in the playoffs, you just need to be hot at the right time.

The theory is that if you don't go to the games or buy the merch then the franchise becomes less/not profitable and the shiatty owner sells it to someone who'll do something. To my knowledge it's never actually worked, but that's the theory.

I get it with the Cubs. There are plenty of real baseball-loving Cubs fans out there (I'm not one) who pretty much checked out after the most recent collapse, what was that 2008? Wrigley has enough tourists and douches that the coffers are always full.

Good or bad though I'm always a Bears fan, that won't change. I don't even like a single other team in the NFL. There are a couple with whom I sympathize (Browns and Bills). I live in Seattle and enjoy watching the Seahawks when they lose.

/They kicked the shiat outta the Bears last year...but anyway.

Nothing against them being a four seed or a wild card but after last year it essentially means they lose to the likes of New England by two touchdowns instead of four. If Elway wants to win Super Bowls and not more Lamar Hunt trophies, he isn't getting either while the Patriots play at the level they are.

I'm a fan of the Browns, Reds, Blue Jackets, Cavs, and Ohio State. I guess I should just switch teams. I'll be like a guy I work with who likes Pats, Yankees, Red Wings, Celtics, and Texas. Nah, fark that. I stick with my teams, no matter what bonehead moves they pull.

And no, the Browns are not close to a championship. I know they have some good pieces, secondary, now RB, left OL, but they have alot of holes. Last team of mine that won a title was the Columbus Crew.

You're in Nationals country, aren't you? You've got plenty to tide you over til September!

/Be nice if the Nats could beat the Yankees once or twice this weekend.
//Suggs is backing off the "will be playing by November" comment now.
///What Flacco's baby might look like:
[starsmedia.ign.com image 160x225]

You know, I tried to get into baseball a couple of years ago, and it just didn't take. :-/ Although, to be fair, it took me about 23 years to get into football, so maybe I just need to be patient? :P haha.

Yeah, I heard about T-Sizzle's timetable revision. Although it wouldn't hurt my feelings too much for my boys not to have to face him, it still kinda sucks. Dude's a beast and I gotta respect him as a player if nothing else. Hope his recovery goes well.

I still think you guys will be OK without him, though, because our teams are too much alike - hell, we lost Harrison and/or Woodley for like half the games last season and still managed 12-4. An ugly 12-4 with a nasty playoff loss (not to mention getting swept by you bastards, ugh! :P), but still. And as much as I might like to, I know better than to count the Ravens out of anything.

/next man up and all that
//also somewhat worried about the Bengals. Dalton-to-Green could be something really special - those kids looked good last year, and I have a feeling they'll keep improving. Plus, it looks like Cincy had a pretty good draft...
///gah. AFCN = bloodbath, once again. :P
////also I lol'd at the Flacco baby picture :)
//slashies!!

IlGreven: jrodtheterrible: Have you ever won a Super Bowl.... on Weedon?

No, and the Browns won't either.

/Mark my words, when the Browns go 2-14 under Weeden, they'll jettison him for Barkley faster than they jettisoned McCoy for him.
