If it wasn't this, the kid would have broken his finger having a tree punching contest with his friends, or in a game of bloody knuckles.

I kinda have a soft spot for the fella, though I admit he's courting trouble.

He's living the (I want to be a SUPERHERO) dream as much as it's possible to live in real life and seems to be OK with the resulting mockery. Yeah fingers are pretty delicate, but if the force of the punch was distributed evenly between the fingers nothing probably would have broke, especially considering the limited strength a 12 year old would be able to muster.
