Thanks, that gave me a chuckle

Adam Sandler made a movie with Tea Leoni and I still couldn't enjoy it...

never really understood the love for this movie. i dislike movies that revolve around the protagonist being put down by assholes for 90 minutes.(though not the same kind of movie, see also: Meet the Parents, et al.)

How many of those movies include the autism-spectrum protagonist giving a sudden, righteous crowbar beating to said assholes?

I don't really care for Sandler's stuff. I thought Happy Gilmore was funny, but I was also 16 when it came out.

That said, when he's just acting like himself, he's at least watchable. When he's playing an exaggerated character, he's god-awful.

moothemagiccow: it was the first sandler movie with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. the beginning of the end.

How can you say that? Oh, you must be a hipster. I've heard about your kind.

What's the over-under on when Sandler starts adapting the fake movies from Funny People into real movies? I say 5 years.

Jack and Jill might as well have been one of those.

Sandler wants to go serious, like Bill Murray.
His recent comedies are just money makers.

This is spelled out fairly explicitly in Funny People.

As much as I hate him, I've gotta envy him for finding a way to make a very lucrative living off of producing shiat.

Keerist, just drop the shenanigans and call me an asshole.

"The Wedding Singer" was great. "Happy Gilmore" was ok in spots. Otherwise, his movies are lowest common denominator garbage. And I'm sure he knows it. Sandler's not stupid. Dumbasses with no taste make up the majority of movie goers, so he goes where the money is.

groppet: I dont want to see this. But tomorrow is the roomates birthday and she wants to see it. If one of you puts me in a coma between now and then you can have my roomate she is pretty and has big boobs.

challenge accepted.......drinking contest! (then even if she isn't pretty and I win....I'd still be happy)

The_Time_Master: Red Letter Media explains the epic con job that is Adam Sandler

http://redlettermedia.com/half-in-the-bag-jack-and-jill/

Ebert tweeted this link the other day. What a perfect breakdown of the Sandler scam.

Kali-Yuga: While Jack and Jill was indeed a cinematic abortion, I can see this movie being ok from the trailers, but I'll wait until it's on cable or something.

I dunno a movie premised on how knee-slappingly funny stautory rape is when it results in kids is already on shaky ground in my opinion. Could this movie have even gotten made if Sandler had been the middle school teacher and some girl was his 13-year old victim?

whatshisname: saw an ad for this film on TV tonight and they flashed one word reviews for about a tenth of a second each.

"Hilarious"
"Outrageous"
etc.

I think they must have all been from those free magazines they give out at the theatre.

look at them closely. they are actually "tweets" that people from test audiences apparently "wrote" after seeing the movie. yes it is SO bad they can't even make up a movie reviewer to give it good quotes. even fake reviewers have standards

"Box.Office.Poison"

That was classic.

Girl: "It's called "Chairman of the Board."
Conan: "Let's see you do something with that, smartass."
Norm, without missing a beat: "Board is spelled B-o-r-e-d"

And Conan loses his shiat.

Adam Sandler in Shakes the Clown -- he should never have made another movie after that one. Ego run amok.

TyrantII: CPT Ethanolic: The critics never appreciate stupid movies. I saw "Grandma's Boy", which I think got like a 10% of Rotten Tomatoes, and thought it was damned funny.

Yeahxalres: enry: I'd just like to say that I liked the fight scenes of Sucker Punch (which was, fortunately a majority of the movie). If that was all it was, it'd be 3 stars easy.

I enjoyed it when I watched it, made me respect Zack Snyder a little more. I thought Ol' Snyder was just having some fun and playing a game of "How can I be more over the top than the last scene? Hmmmmm NUKE TRAIN AND BEATLES COVER!!! WOOOOO!!!". Then one of my co-workers told me he considered it a serious work on par with The Godfather or something. Now I just feel sorry for him.

Still had fun watching it. Jenna Malone in burlesque outfits, what's not to like?

How about a movie where the lead is raped over and over and over and over before getting lobotomized?

Guess it went over your head?

:D

spell that out for me because i missed that.

i know she was of course imagining the video game boss fights because something bad was going down. i didn't get that she was just being raped raped during that stuff.

EyeballKid: Huck And Molly Ziegler: I've never understood the cinematic appeal of Adam Sandler.
Does that mean I'm old, or simply that I graduated high school?

/he was OK on SNL
//with that holiday song about who's Jewish

I'm going out on a limb, you were never in a fraternity, were you?

Lucky guess, that. ;)

I liked Happy Gimore, Billy Madison, Waterboy, Little Nicky, Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, and I even liked Zohan. Guess I'm the only one that likes stupid comedies, some of y'all take movies way too seriously.
