I can think of at least one reason a cheerleader should open her mouth

For every zombie Juliet Starling decapitates with her chainsaw, someone calls her a whore, talks about masturbating to her, or comments on her gigantic breasts. In and out of combat, the primary goal of Lollipop Chainsaw is the money shot, whether it's up Starling's skirt or down her shirt.

That sounds like a damn near perfect video game.

So it sounds interesting and has style, but the game mechanics aren't anything to write home about?

Then it's just like every other Suda51 game.

Well, maybe about 25-30 seconds after she opens her mouth, I'm done with it.

They can't all be Metal Gear Solid or Boarderlands. It looks fun, doesn't take itself seriously, and tides me over till Resident Evil 6 for zombie killin. What's wrong with that? As for the whore and slut comments...geez...lets get our femnazi stuff under control. It's going to appeal to a certain audience...;)

Based on what I saw in the videos, it's a beat 'em up where one of its chief mechanics requires the players to mash a button in order to recover from a downed state. Which would be wonderful in a game about zombies, if you weren't completely impervious to all attacks until you got back up.

I think that casts a pretty firm indictment of the combat system.

It dropped down to 45 already on Amazon. You can pretty much gauge how much people are liking the game on how long it stays full price.

It always looked like a game designed for cosplay enthusiasts rather than gamers.

I am not surprised at all.

Meh. Gamestop pressed so hard to get people to preorder this. I can't say I'm surprised to hear it sucks...it reminded me a little of Dead Island. All fluff, no content.

i344.photobucket.com

It's a game designed for people who would buy it for no other reason than the fact that there's a cheerleader on the cover and/or by people who figured that there'd be plenty of people willing to buy it for just that reason and ignore its myriad flaws.

/and I'm aware of the irony of responding to your comment about Lollipop Chainsaw being designed for cosplay otaku with a pic from that series

I'll buy it when it goes down to 20. Looks like mindless fun.

I'm renting it. Not spending a dime.

The game is a lot of fun and doesn't take itself seriously. It feels like a lot of old school games. If you are stupid enough to believe a IGN review then it's your own loss.

Despite the myriad of flaws with Dead Island, I honestly can't remember a recent game my friends and I have had more fun with. Some of the glitches even made it funner. Nothing gamebreaking, just a lot of "Hey, take a look at this glitch!" or mocking the bad voice acting.

it's a bucket of fun. unless you're some sort of feminist white knight or have your panties in to tight a bunch.

Can I fap to this?

2012-06-14 07:49:08 PM
$60 no. $20 buck it'll be in a few week? Hell yeah!

No idea why it wasn't released on the game stores at a smarter price. Like said, not Everything can be a ME3/Uncharted/MGS nor should it; but the damn publisher needs to be smart enough to market and sell it right to make back the maximum revenues/profits.

No ones gonna buy this for $60. A good number would have checked it out day and date for $40 right away.

2012-06-14 08:00:20 PM
It's fun.
The only problem I have with it is that the zombies take a lot of damage before you can take them out. Makes using the weak attack button unnecessary. Problem is you get extra points for multi-kills and setting up a bunch of Z's so that they are all dizzy at the same time becomes tedious.

I got it for $40, and it's got about $40 worth of entertainment in it. You can reuse your character with her maxed move list after the 1st play through.

Looks like the "SyFy Original" of video gaming. Sad.

2012-06-14 08:20:53 PM
I really wanted this to be great after the disappointment I felt with the newest Ninja Gaiden. I loved the commercials for this game, thought it was going to be really well done...it still looks fun, it still looks cool, I just wish that they'd put a little more into the mechanics of it. I'll probably pick it up though for 40 bucks, as I said earlier, I need to kill zombies until oct when Res Evil 6 is released. And who's against looking at a hot cheerleader being slutty?

2012-06-14 08:27:55 PM
It seems as if the more you end up hearing about a game before release, the more "features" and photos and interviews and advertising you stumble upon, the worse the actual game is. And damn, if I haven't been able to visit any gaming website without seeing pictures of zombie killing cheerleaders lately. Was the advertising budget immense on this, or are gaming "journalists" just 14 year old boys?

Little bit of both I suppose.
the WB as a publishing house is trying to get Suda51's games to sell.Shadows of the Damned tanked and most people blame that on EA's lack of marketing money for the product.
Now add the thought that this gave off a huge Buffy vibe that had the potential to sell well.

Then you can add that game Journalists are about 14ish, in many ways. Anybody remember the 360 DoA "She Kicks High" commercial.

The combat mechanics are a bit of a pain (jump button on 'B', instead of 'A'?! No rebinding?! GAH!), but the action, story and details are batshiat crazy in a good, Suda51 way.

I'm enjoying it.

As long as Bethesda does it themselves instead of farming it out to Obsidian, it shouldn't be too bad.

I hated Dead Island. So much potential, but in the end just a useless boring, dull, slog through a tedious world. I played to the jungle before going 'Not worth it any more' and stopped forcing myself in case it got better.

Did they make F03 or F0 NV? I liked both, but they had seriously different tones (I liked NV more simply because it didn't furiously masturbate the DC area and it wasn't a subway tunnel wreck simulator).

Played it today at my buddies. Decent fun and way off the wall in a funny way. Not worth 60 bucks but when it drops to 40-ish or lower, check it out.

Oh and if a IGN review is the deciding factor in liking something or not, you are a dumb ass.

When if drops to $20 I might look at it. Spending $50 or $60 for games that last maybe 10 or 12 hours, just is not going to happen in this economy. I'm still playing Skyrim for crying out loud.. I must be near 200 hours I think.

how did Dead Island "burn" you exactly? It is personally one of my favorite games ever. The isolation and just straight up fear that game produced in me while playing single-player is AMAZING. I have played thru it several times now and will be playing it more this weekend. Now, I don't give 2 shiats in the wind about multiplayer, but creeping from building to building just exploring a mostly deserted zombie infested island has been just fantastic.

So just do what you'd do with an actual cheerleader, use it while its still fun and dump it when it gets boring/annoying. Youre honestly telling me youd pass up a quick dirty romp with a hot cheerleader because she'll get boring eventually?? Sure it won't end well but the beginning and middle parts were amazing.

Different strokes, I guess, but the opening hip hop scene was painful, as were all of the characters. The voices were godawful, and the game had tons of glitches. I lasted until the fourth or fifth mission and said screw it. I remember one mission was to go retrieve a security key then return back to the guy. Then the guy tells you to use the security key to OPEN THE BUILDING RIGHT NEXT TO WHERE YOU FOUND IT. What, he didn't remember that part? Please...it was just lazy. It could have been so much more, but it ended up being just another zombie game that relied on the premise, not the execution.

No shiat.... next you'll be trying to convince me that Call of Duty games aren't really that groundbreaking or that Nintendo's next system will be dominated by shovelware aimed at seven year olds.....

Pretty much; also, are programmers shorts too damn tight to actually put out games like this?

You wanna have games that are *simply* about mindless fun and not going into steroid-infused rages every time somebody blasts your head off in multplayer.

They better have some 'OHMYGODIGOTTAHAVEIT!" games or PS4 will flop.

There has not been a game yet that I am willing to spend more than 40-50 bucks on. Even the games I know I will like and have tons of prerelease buzz (Skyrim, Dark Souls), I will wait several months before buying. I would argue that there will be very few people willing to spend 100 bucks on a game, regardless of how great it is. $60 is the mental barrier, and it always has been. I remember buying Street Fighter for Genesis at $60 brand new. It won't change, no matter how great the games are. The only thing they can do is to release a game and DLC it to death.

I wonder where the breaking point is going to be with future games: Release a game w/ 10% of the actual content on the disk and then cajole you into d/ling the rest of it off of their servers for a premium price?

That will be the death of console gaming right there.

2012-06-15 11:41:48 AM
Seems like a classic example of everything wrong with the game industry today. A lot of contrived "try-to-be-cool" elements and fancy (very expensive) graphics but no actual content or replay value.

For Christ's sake, even the original Legend of Zelda had replay value - it had an entire second quest with different dungeons and everything!

If the game isn't going to last me longer than the equivalent $ value of liquor/beer I'm drinking while playing it, then it's not worth it.

Bethesda coded FO3, Obsidian did FNV.

I also liked FNV better, except for the random crashes. Hence my desire that Bethesda do FO4 rather than Obsidian, since the greatest, most fun gaming experience is worthless if you can't actually play the damn thing.
