I about gave up on this show last season, and it's going to take some serious killing of that little kid very early on to get me to approach this one with anything close to an open mind.

Unless they make a serious, serious departure from the comic (and they have made quite a few, but this would be a much larger change that the others they have made), I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

Good to know. Think I'll just chalk this one up as a lost cause....if I hear any good buzz, maybe I'll catch it later on netflix or somethig.

I'm in the middle of re-watching the second season to see if I was being unjustly harsh, I wasn't. The only person who understands the practical implications of the world in which these people live is a psychopath and no one these people should have survived more than ten days before becoming Zombie chow.

Carl would last about seven, maybe eight minutes in any "realistic" scenario.

Zombies aren't smart, mobile, or capable of growth or sustaining themselves. In a realistic scenario, they lose...even to Carl. But that isn't fun. That doesn't lead to blockbuster movies...well...except for War of the Worlds.

But there are other things from the comic that might make up for it.

I disagree, so long as they don't stray too far from the comic book character.

Personally, I thought that the whole Governor / Governor's town thing was a bit hokey in the comic series. So even if they do stick to the comic storyline, I'm not holding out much faith in this season to be all that great. I'm still going to watch at least the first few episodes. Maybe the writers grew a brain or two over the break.

The surrounding that and the prison were really my favorite parts so far (though the current storyline has a lot of hope.) As such, I'm really looking forward to next season, aside from them casting the fake Doctor as the Governor.

My god, I didn't realize how many people Robert Kirkman forced at gunpoint to watch this show until I saw all this hate for a 2 season-show.

Look, in regards to how annoying this character or that character is, consider that there is one thing that happened in the comic book WD that it appears will inevitably happen on the TV show:

Rick goes farking crazy.

Now, it may take a few different turns, but in both the book and the show, at this point Rick's been through quite a bit. He's responsible for his friend's death (the friend who MAY be the father of his upcoming child), he unnecessarily puts the burden of the group on himself, and he expects everyone else to recognize that. Still, a cop is still likely to be able to keep a cool head under pressure, and it will take a lot to make him crack. With the prison and the Woodbury storylines coming up, as well as the introduction of an ass kicking character in Michonne, there's a likelihood the show shifts even more away from the zombies to the psychological impact on everyone in the group. Perhaps, even, a scene where Rick yells the titular line.

I think the show deserves some more time to develop before snap judgments are made. Or, you can turn on your PS3 and play House of the Dead if you just want more zombie-shootin'.

she is one of the best characters in the comic.

"spoiler alert"

the governor captures her and rapes her relentlessly, having her strapped up in a little room. he should have killed her, when she gets free she whips his shiatty ass and nails his balls to the floor.

"Lori, shut the fark up?"

that is the only line i can recall that really sticks out.

/don't like some of the show's slow parts but over all it is pretty ok, and for the love of zombies Shane is farking dead. I was worried that they would never kill that stupid bastard. and I did like the retcon with it, having him turn and THEN Carl puts him down. Much less cold blooded than the comic version.

I could see zombies making some headway before people realize you have to shoot them in the head, and get over the squeamishness of actually doing that. After those two things are established, you'd think a reasonably well trained SWAT team could do a lot of damage.

yeah, he might still get shot. i just dont think a permantly disfigure will occur. and shiat that is FOREVER away in the comics. Pretty much this. I liked the comic. The show has a good premise, some good actors, and good production. Writing is the only thing holding it back and that can change dramatically and quickly. Hell, they fired the whole writing staff after season 1. There could be another shift in season 3 that makes it a really good show.

i dunno. i like some of them and dislike some. the Moloch one is stupid, but on the whole the books could EASILY still be one season of the show apiece. apart from Rita still being alive in the books. And I really do like the direction the kids are going in the books. And I much prefer ol hook hand Doakes from the books to dead Doakes in the show.

You've got to also remember that anyone who dies becomes a zombie. Somebody dies in your house from a heart attack overnight and you're screwed.
