Actually, subby, yes I have. Wait, nineteen-oh-one? Then, no. Nothing to see here.

I cleaned out some barns that my dad bought. They had been disused since they had flooded in the 80s. We found the skeleton of a cat that had been locked in the loft and the decaying remains of a matador buried in mud. AMC sure did build some crappy cars.

I wondered why the guy in 1901 was so quiet lately. He used to be loud and always yelling about his sports shows. He would often stay up all night and party with his equally unemployed friends. Zero consideration for his hard working neighbors.

I have no idea how he wound up in my trash, officer.

No, but I do find more recent ones when I clean out the pit I dug in my basement floor. Human remains and empty lotion bottles.

Were the remains male or female? If the right fist was closed, it's a guy. If the mouth was wide open, it's a woman. Generally.

CSB! Right after I moved into my current house we decided to do a lot of demo in the basement and one of the things we knocked down was a closet that was sort of just randomly put along one wall. It was built around the time of the house I'm guessing (early 50's) and was solidly built. The top foot or so of it was sealed off (empty space that couldn't be accessed) and as we were ripping in to that we found an old blood-stained shirt. Not like "I had a nosebleed and a few drips on my shirt" or "I cut my arm while I built this closet" but "copious amounts of blood, splattered and otherwise". It definitely wasn't like what you would find on a shirt that was used say for staining something either. We were a little freaked and called local PD to see what they thought. They sent an officer over to check it out and he was like "what are you gonna do with it? Just toss it?" and we said "If you don't care, we don't care. I just want to be on record that we found this in case there's a body in the backyard or something."

Still haven't found a body.

No bodies in my garage. It's amazing what the garbage men will haul away for $20 and a case of beer.

Is it CSB time? Here's mine:

A friend of mine moved into an apartment and found a shrunken head in a glass case next to the couch. The landlady then decided that it would be much better to move it to the coffee table. She (the landlady) calls it "Dad".

Ned Stark: No, I've never cleaned my garage.

================

I know some people who bought their house in 1980. Old house, built in the 1920's with a detached garage in the backyard. They have never cleaned out that garage, and it still contains junk left behind by the previous owners.

Last year some people bought a house in a nearby town and found a live artillery shell in the basement. The police contacted the previous owner, an elderly woman. The previous owner claimed that it could have belonged to her late husband, a Korean War combat vet. The police were incredulous that she never noticed the artillery round which sat on a shelf in open view despite having lived in the house for decades. She stated that in the 50 years she lived in the house, she never cleaned the basement.

Finally, a story similar to the one provided by subby. A few years ago a young couple bought a 100 year old house in Ridgewood, New Jersey. While renovating the house, they discovered a human skull under the floorboards. They called the police, but the every diligent PD seemed less than enthusiastic about investigating. Only after they contacted the media, did the PD get it in gear. According to the forensic lab, the skull appeared to be older than 100 years, predating the house. They never did find out who it belonged to, or how it got under the floor boards.

You'd think a matador would be easy to spot in his suit of lights.

==============

An older neighbor told me he was cleaning out his basement and found some boxes that belonged to his late father who died over 30 years ago. He told me the boxes contained "some kind of old money", but he didn't really know what it was, and if I'd be nice enough to have a look. So I go down into his basement where he points out some disintegrating cardboard boxes. HOLY SHIAT! He had over $10K worth of pre-1964 US silver coins. I'm like, "Are you crazy? You've got over $10K worth of silver just sitting here in the basement where anyone....like the meter reader or the boiler repair dude.....can just walk off with it." I directed him to reputable coin dealer that I've dealt with in the past. My neighbor was grateful and gave me this for helping him out.
