I hope they gratted him, because even 15% of 10 large is 1.5k.

I was at that game. It was a complete bloodbath. Like the Kings beating up on a high school team. Norfolk dominated.

Linked station's sister station showed the two away games. The first one was dull, then ended very oddly in OT. Second was a bloodbath. Oh well. Everywhere here downtown has been full-on Admirals since they won 28 straight to end the regular season.

Wow, they added an extra 4% to the tip... Wow, just wow. I already do at least that if I get decent service, nobody writes a story about it though.

Big farking deal.

They were tremendous. Tokarski did get a few lucky breaks, but overall, Norfolk just cleaned their clocks.

Everyone watching knew that the Admirals were going to win that series, but game 3 was crap and everyone knows it. The AHL execs even admitted that that goal shouldn't have counted. Eakins was all class the way he took it.

The Maple Leafs' announcers calling the game on the TV didn't. But, then, they also never learned how to pronounce, "Norfolk."

Yeah. I was watchiing, and it was like WTF?

And I had to Google "Stanchion."

It's over. I'm okay with that. I know nothing of hockey, and haven't tried to follow it in a long time. My wife and MIL, OTOH......

You're the jerk... jerk: Is there a story to this I don't know? I hope it is good.

fatalvenom is a loud and proud Bruins fan. When the Bruins won the cup, the picture of their receipt (in this thread) was posted, at well over $100K. So bragging about a $10K bar tab is small in comparison. But of course, AHL salaries and all that.

hurdboy: The Maple Leafs' announcers calling the game on the TV didn't. But, then, they also never learned how to pronounce, "Norfolk."

Well, they are just a bit biased.

I'm not complaining that the missed offside cost the Marlies the series, because I don't think it did. It cost them one game in a series where they were already getting seriously outplayed and outscored. But you still never want to see a game decided like that.

Ah well. This truly is the worst time of the year - the longest possible time before more hockey.

And it's not big enough down here to make any of the local stations send a team up to broadcast the games. If I wanted real analysis, I could have just as easily tuned in the radio broadcast.

But, then, I don't really give a shiat about hockey. I might have a little bit when I was working for the Admirals' radio affiliate back when they were still in the ECHL. But, still not that much.

(I did get to meet a couple of the Hansen Brothers, which was cool....)

Still, it is cool to have a local team do well in the spotlight. See: Norfolk State in the NCAA tournament, who had their headline round one upset stolen by Duke sucking....

Notsomuch. Football isn't terribly far away. Isn't the CFL starting up in like three weeks or something?

If they went to Real Sports after the game, that probably bought them 10 drinks and some dry nachos.

All the Toronto fanboys in the world Canada acting like the Marlies had a chance against Norfolk to begin with.

That's because they never followed the Marlies all year (too busy watching that other "professional team" in the city) and assumed that if they made the Calder Cup Finals, they must have stood a chance.

I was just happy the Marlies even made it that deep in the playoffs. Don't care that they lost.

Only the bandwagon fans. Anyone who followed the AHL season knew that the Admirals were going to steamroll their way to the championship. That team is amazing.

Euro Cup is on for all of June. Then the Olympics have some fun viewing in July, plus the CFL kicks off July 1. True it's not hockey, but at least it's not baseball.

I was surprised the Monarchs took 1 game, on the road even. Glad I didn't go to either of the Monarch's home-games in the series though. However, the team was good, but their goaltending/defense was atrocious by the numbers. The goalie had something like a 2.5GAA but a 91% sv which means he saw ALOT of shots. All you had to do was play shutdown defense, and score some goals. Unfortunately, playing shut-down defense against them was damn near impossible because of their offensive power.

And barcardi, which is shiatty 70 proof "rum", is $300.
