So, wait. Is this a new Spider-Man that has nothing to do with the last couple movies? I'm confused...

How difficult would it have been to take an actual photograph of Emma Stone instead of completely photoshopping her?

TsarTom: He looks like a basketball.

That was my first thought!

I didn't care for the second movie, and I didn't even bother to see the third, but Tobie MacGuire is still Spiderman to me, dammit. I refuse to see this reboot, and if enough people feel the same way I do, Sony is gonna wonder WTF happened to their money.

She is looking at him like he is ...not even there.

There's way too much focus on much Totally High School in Love™ these two are supposed to be... I wanna watch a superhero punch shiat, not cry about his girlfriend. (again)

oh, and his head looked like it was stuck in some dimpling type machine.

Doesn't even look like her.

I'm so old I can remember when a Spider-Man movie seemed like a good idea.

But what if she's kidnapped and what not? Don't you want to see Spiderman rescue her at breakneck speed?

The whole movie looks amazingly bad. I really hope it bombs but know it won't.

I'd say it looks spectacularly bad.

It's a reboot.

It actually looks really fun, too. Not like that over-acted emo crap that happened after Spiderman 1

I'll see it, with a bunch of kids in tow. Toby is too old to keep being Peter, now that doesn't mean I think they should reboot every 3 movies, just keep going like a Bond thing. Anyhow, it looks to me that despite complaints of more emo Spidey, they look to have got more wise cracking Spidey in there too. I think it's worth a shot.

That's all well and good, and I would also rather have a movie about spiderman being a fighting badass.

But these movies aren't made for us. They're made for kids, for the most part. Who need a high school level romance to understand what's going on and empathize with the characters. They're the ones who are going to see it 400 times, buy the OST and posters and DVDs and sequels and all the product tieins.

Or did you think movies were made for something other than award bait or product placement?

There was a time when Hollywood would bankroll any goofy idea as long as the one sheet looked good. Now they're not even bothering with that.

I figured it out. Spidey just sneezed, and it's dawned on her that any snot, buggers, etc. have no where to go in that costume. She doesn't want to say anything, but she just can't look away. You know, it's like the mole your trying not to look at, but you just can't help yourself.

/Mole. Bloody mole. We aren't supposed to talk about the bloody mole

I saw the extended preview before Prometheus. It is EXACTLY the worst kind of over-acted emo crap. I saw:

1. Horribly awkward talking at high school scene.
2. Crying in bed together scene.
3. Emo Parker TAKING A STAND against Gwen's dad, who just happens to be the Chief of Police hunting Spiderman.

She's looking at the villain that is about to hit them with a rock, a really big rock

Why do they have to do reboots, anyway? I was thinking about this for the Batman series. Instead of doing sequels and trilogies and what not, why not just tell Batman stories? Why not just do one-offs that are not necessarily reliant on the other films for continuity? I mean, we already pretty much know who these characters are. No need to keep reintroducing them.

It's the Taco Bell of movie franchises -- same ingredients, different shell.

If a trailer shows a movie in the best possible light, then this one is going to flop. It's awful.

That's a pretty high bridge they're on, he ought to be able to break the hell out of her neck.

I think you've nailed it. The first Peter Parker was a genuine geek that regular guys could all relate to. This new guy is a little too emo-Bieber. I think Sony is going to lose a good chunk of the male audience.

Back in the day Spiderman was known for kicking some villain ass.

Now he's all sensitive and into his feelings.
We just can't turn this country into a bunch of bleeding heart pussies fast enough.

/surprised they didn't cast Matthew McConaughey as Spidey to turn it into a complete chic flick.

It looks like poor Spiderman got his head stuck in a golf ball dimpler.

Has there ever been a high profile comic book movie that more fans were hoping to fail than this one? I can't remember a film having this kind of backlash before it was even released.

I am so goddamned tired of Hollywood shoehorning romances into superhero flicks. Everyone is aware of the Peter/Gwen/MJ love triangle. Literally 0 people are interested in having it shoved in their face for another 120 minutes. I promise the average paying customer for this flick isn't coughing up 12 bucks to see Emma Stone's mug on screen, and would rather see Spiderman being...Spiderman.

The more I hear about this movie the more dissapointed I get. Was really hoping we'd get a chance to see a more classic take on spiderman but alas, they're taking the same formula and rehashing it with different faces. Why do we even need to be told the origin story AGAIN? Even with the mechanical webshooters, backstory could be accomplished way more succintly because it wasn't maybe 10 years ago we were watching the same movie. All I hear about this movie is how much it's 90% melodrama and 10% action shots of a hilariously bad Lizard design. Who the hell are they even trying to market this movie to anyways?

Columbia and Fox should stop being such dicks and sell back the Xmen/Spiderman/Fantastic 4 film liscenses back to Marvel so they can incorporate them into their already successful tie-in universe. In a perfect world they would realize how fulfilling to fans it would be to see Wolverine and Spiderman quip back and forth AS part of the Avengers. Fat chance of that though. Blegh.

Spider-Man was decent, and Spider-Man 2 was one of the better movies in the comic book film genre.

Spider-Man 3, however, is the reason this is getting re-booted.
