I think it's entirely possible that there may be some outrage over this.

THIS one gets the green? I'll never understand modmins. There were plenty of earlier submissions with headlines as good or better and this one gets the green hours later.

I don't even feel like commenting on the actual topic because I blew my topic comment wad on at least two of the earlier threads.

Good job, modmins.

What's the difference between that head and the real thing? One has actual brain power, and the other is George W. Bush.

Pocket Ninja: I think it's entirely possible that there may be some outrage over this.

Actually, I can understand it. If it was done on purpose, I'd be outraged, too, even though I can't stand the guy. But the President is the President--respect the office if not the man. I don't think the producers or anyone directly involved with the show did it on purpose but I can certainly see some flunky at the prop company saying, "Hey, let's throw in this Bush head. Nobody will know but us!"

That's what makes Game of Thrones and HBO so great. They aren't scared of a little bush.

Arbitrator: I didn't like his presidency in the slightest, but this bullshiat is beyond disrespectful.

It's not even a full profile of the head. Nobody would have known had the producers not said anything on the commentary, and even then it was "oh we use a ton of body part props, his just happened to be in the bin of heads". "Disrespectful" is a stretch here.

I'm sure you would use the same tag if it was obama's head on a pike instead, right?

I didn't submit this but I would have gone with "Amusing" no matter which politician was spiked up there.

To be honest, I never thought that that was Dubya. The hair pretty much obscured the head. Nobody would've known if not for the commentaries, anyways. Most likely the prop department had a bunch of spare heads, found this one, had some lolz and placed it on the set, and nothing more. Could've been any famous head, really.

Annnnnd apparently the head(snerk) of the Brooklyn Republicans, which must be an awfully small organization, has called for a boycott of the show. How typically droll of them. Link

He's got a point. I, for one, will be boycotting any company that runs ads during Game of Thrones.

Yeah, those ads are really annoying. Especially during that one important death scene. You know the one.

Pro-tip for Subby: Saying "Cool" about a President's head being put on a pole is not only demented, it might just earn you a visit by the Secret (or at the least a place on their watch list). They have a special place in their hearts for people like you.

What makes you think the Secret Service care about subby when THE PRODUCERS ACTUALLY PUT THE EX PRESIDENT'S HEAD ON A POLE!?

God forbid some of us find the process of filmmaking cool and have an interest in the little things like reused props and sets.

Pretty much this.

I never voted for him, I think many of his actions as President were an embarrassment to the Republic, (Guantanamo, Iraq), and that he should have been impeached and removed.

But this borders on advocating assassination. If this was Clintons or Carters head, or worse, Obamas, do you think they would have done this? What do you think the response would be?

How could these guys not think that this would get out one way or the other? And that it would NOT be considered political?

Oh, and how did they just happen to have a head of GWB lying around anyway?

So far as a boycott goes, I am all for it. I am tired of this political bullshiat being rammed down our throats during entertainment. If I want politics on HBO, I'll check out Maher.

This is not the first time Bush had been used in a nasty way to make a political statement inappropriately. They did it in "Battle for Terra " as well, using a caricature of him as a power mad evil military leader. It spoiled an otherwise enjoyable, though not great by far, pic.

I have deleted all HBO shows from my NetFlix queue. If I still subscribed to cable or Directtv I would cancel HBO directly. Yeah, pretty weak but that's all I got. Too bad, I was looking forward to seeing this one. As well as other HBO shows I removed.

Oh well, I still have Showtime and AMC

I revered the office of the president when I was a child. My 12 year old self might have even been upset by this.

Now? Well, I'm under the impression that the prez is just the politician who comes out on top of our weird modern media cycle during an election year. There's no rule by divine right like the kings of old - he's a regular human with all our faults and weaknesses. I still vote, I still feel passionate about certain issues, but the whole political machine has become too terribly entrenched to engender anything but cynicism on my end...

The Office of President should be respected. The people who serve in it should be judged by their actions.

Now that this has been announced, people will notice. Why did they announce it? Were they tried of people not noticing their clever little dig that they had to point it out?

Chances are someone would have noticed eventually, there are lots of people that spend time looking for discontinuities, odd references and 'easter eggs' in shows.
