Candidate Warren seems more intelligent and more liberal then Senator Brown. I feel she would be a good representation for the State of Massachusetts.

I'm a Hoosier though, so what do I know about East Coast politics. Some of the time I feel like I'm watching the East Coast states through binoculars, constantly going, "Nope. fark that. Those people look crazy."

Document ties Warren kin to Cherokees
(Boston Globe, May 01, 2012)

Issue settled.

Seriously, do you think they give two craps about things like facts and evidence? These are the people who are still harping about how they think birth certificates, newspaper announcements, and everything else has been faked in a giant conspiracy by shadowy organizations that wanted to put a non-American into office. They could give two craps about facts, or even about logic (it would be far easier to just buy an American politician to do their bidding, the old-fashioned way).

How many craps exactly are you giving about "facts and evidence"?

The weird part is, she's probably more likely to vote against her party than the average Republican would (and yeah, I'll acknowledge that Scott Brown isn't an average Republican).

But the real distinction between Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren is that he's for deregulation and she's for regulation. That's basically what's funding his campaign, the banks are funding him because they don't want further banking regulation.

it doesn't matter if she really is 1/1000 indian.

the issue is a lady who is as white as the driven snow claimed to be a woman of color, claimed to have lived the difficult life that exists for women of color, in order to secure preferential treatment from educational institutions. she's a fraud and an embarrassment to the human race.

[Citation Please]

what do you have a problem with exactly?

you agree that there is no way in hell anyone ever mistook Warren for a woman of color, right?
never in her entire life.
you agree that she never had to go through life treated as a woman of color? right?

she was able to go to the university of houston in 1966, a still deeply racist institution, who didn't even let blacks play sports until 1964. if she was an actual woman of color she would have had to choose between going to historically black colleges or catching incredible flack for the color of her skin at the major southern institutions at that time.

this biatch Warren grew up watching other women actually face incredibly significant and life altering discrimination against because of the color of her skin. then she used a family story to claim a minority experience. she again victimized women that were actually f*cked over for the color of her skin.

what, you believe her when she claimed she only began claiming that dubious *ethnicity* out of a desire to meet women like herself?
Warren: "I listed myself in the directory in the hopes that it might mean that I would be invited to a luncheon, a group something that might happen with people who are like I am."

and who the f*ck were the see women she wanted to meet?

women who grew up white, looked white, were white, and enjoyed all the advantages of being white (including preferential treatment for being white at a southern university in 1966) for 36 years but claimed minority status for the first time in the mid 1980's because it offered more opportunity?

really? that's who she wanted to meet? or she wanted to meet a *fellow* indian? there were no f*cking women of color there. she was the *first* god damn woman of color at Harvard!
she couldn't meet anyone at harvard who was a woman of color like her. she couldn't even meet frauds like her. she was the first!

the motivation for HER LIE is blinding obvious; anyone who believes her nonsense about wanting to meet women like herself who were 1/39 high cheek bones so they could go to lunch together is raging moron or so blinded by their ideology she can't see straight.

this woman who basically grew up in a time of racial hatred that us gen xers can't even imagine, watching real women of color get beat down for their ethnicity, chose to pretend she had a minority experience to get ahead in her career.

she's f*cking despicable.

3_Butt_Cheeks: Yea, townhall is lying too. It's all a big scary fabrication.

Yes, probably so.

Because you know, to simply admit you made a mistake would be unthinkable.

No, see, unlike conservative publications like Breitbart, Townhall, Etc., progressive publications like the Boston Globe have the integrity to admit and correct themselves when they've made an error. This is so because conservatives, generally, lack integrity, while progressives possess integrity. Likewise, if I had made an error, I would admit it.

Here, I've made no error. You've presented something written by a far right ideologue, that doesn't appear to have been published anywhere outside the right-wing echo machine. It has no credibility. The report by the respected publication stands, even with its inconsequential correction.

Oh, and the Globe "source" you both are still championing? Link

See, this is exactly what I'm talking about. The Globe made an immaterial error. For purposes of whether Ms. Warren can make a good faith claim to her Cherokee heritage, an application for a marriage license is as informative as a marriage license itself.

I am a quarter native american. My grandmother on my fathers side was full blooded. I almost never spent any time with that family branch and my parents divorced when i was 10. I have no papers to "prove" I am native american and I have never legally claimed I am a native american. But I have no problem telling people I am a quarter native american because it is the truth.

I don't even live on that side of the country but I can understand this concept. I am sorry you were born with inferior genes and are incapable of simple thought.

The difference being she isn't native american at all, and used her false claims publicly. You told the truth.

At any rate, I think it's humorous, nothing more. It certainly wouldn't be a voting issue were I to live in that area.

And people won't be. This election doesn't start until the debates. We're in the dog days of the Grapefruit League schedule right now. Massachusetts isn't one of those states that feeds on a long, drawn-out campaign. That's why it is so head-crushingly annoying to be living next to New Hampshire in a Prez. election year, where our airwaves get filled with their pollution a year in advance of when we start caring. If anything the politics are so provincial here that local pol-on-local pol Legislative payback and who corrupted what in what state gov't. patronage shelter still rules the news. Maybe it's the scarcity of competitive primaries, but voters here tend to eyeball the likely nominees early...then tune out for the balance of late-spring/summer and pick it back up in September. That's why the polls haven't budged in ages despite Warren taking a negative ad blitz on Injun-gate and Brown having a very gaffe-prone Spring. The only ones feasting off this are the Herald columnist/Howie Carr/Dennis & Callahan demographics. And that's only because their own micropenii have been at raging hard-on at the very thought of a chick being in the race.

(sit with that mental image for a sec...yes, Howie's scrotum is chafing raw right this second and he can't stop pullin'...it no longer even gives him joy, but he just can't stop. . .)

OK, so...yeah. We went through this in '94 too with Kennedy-Romney. National media thought an upset was in the brewing all year as Romney kept eating away at the lead, then came into the debates tied. Well, all that Mitt-mentum the pundits were hyping happened when the state was on vacation, so nobody paid attention to that. The voters started tuning in at debate time like they usually do, their first focused attention on the campaign was the sight of Romneybot Alpha v0.1 being allowed to free-associate awkwardly onstage for a couple hours. Then 6 weeks of intense stretch-run volleys. Then...a 17-point thrashing. It's remembered nationally as being closer than it was locally, because those few months where it was getting interesting happened to coincide with the low attention-span season.

Now, that doesn't necessarily imply Brown is toast against a superior debater. He's got a little bit of the W. 'grade-on-curve' thing going for him where if he stays upright against Warren he'll be a perceived winner, so it's dangerous to assume that the debates are instantly going to be Warren's killing fields. And, actually, I can't in my life recall a poorer debate performance than the "Stop the fight! Stop the fight! You're killing him!"...positively uncomfortable...beating that Romney took at Kennedy's hands in Faneuil Hall 18 years ago. So...uh...she drew the tougher opponent than whoever it is is running against Romney this year.

Just be aware that this campaign isn't gaining attention locally on the same kind of continuum that it is nationally. And that's part of the reason why Brown can afford to pass on the outside SuperPAC money...it's wasted effort for the Kochs to calibrate their lazers on this race when that kind of push does work better on a continuum elsewhere. Nobody in Mass. cares in June except the out-of-state pundits who have to fill dead air with shouting, and Howie Carr's impossibly small, now-chafed-to-dull-purple wiener.

THIS. If they'll still identify themselves as Republican, then they're either stark raving mad, or they have no spine. Neither gets my vote.

I'm in my early 30's, and as it stands now, I'll probably never vote Republican again based off of what that party has done the past 10 years. Even if they swing back to sanity, there has to be a price for this kind of extremism and the damage they've done by virtually shutting down our system of government.

Warren's problem isn't only that she's a lying coont about the whole Fauxcahontas thing. She was polling crappy even before that. And Warren's reputation for dishonesty wouldn't discourage liberals from voting for her anyway. Dishonesty is fine, as long as you are a liberal and you mean well.

As opposed to Republicans who cut taxes (because that ALWAYS works), increase spending (and not where it NEEDS to be spent, such as on infrastructure), and increase the power of the government.

Hard knock life indeed, just singing her bio.

My father married a pure Cherokee
My mother's people were ashamed of me
The indians said I was white by law
The White Man always called me "Indian Squaw"

CHORUS:
Half-breed, that's all I ever heard
Half-breed, how I learned to hate the word
Half-breed, she's no good they warned
Both sides were against me since the day I was born

We never settled, went from town to town
When you're not welcome you don't hang around
The other children always laughed at me
"Give her a feather, she's a Cherokee"

Repeat Chorus

We weren't accepted and I felt ashamed
Nineteen I left them, tell me who's to blame
My life since then has been from man to man
But it can't run away from what I am

Why would that require me to change my mind? No one has asked me to do it yet.

The conversation on a wager was cut short by the mods for a reason unknown to me. I'm not certain about the rule of discussing deleted posts either. I've seen it done before and usually those posts get deleted as well. So don't post whatever that guy did.

Phinn: what_now: Why are you cons so afraid of a strong liberal woman?

As long as squaw dance and get-um firewood, squaw can stay and eat-um buffalo.

Epoch_Zero: Those are called breasts.

No, they aren't.

Just had a look at your profile....you seem to be proud of the fact that everyone else thinks you're a dick. Doesn't that make you a...I dunno....dick?

Bill Murray said I was weird: Your fellow loyal consservative beta_plus has admitted his hatred for her in multiple other threads, but then again this was the same guy who cheered on here when Rep Giffords was shot.

Wow, your butt hurt is so bad that you can't tell the difference between hatred and richly deserved mockery.

I don't hate Elizabeth Warren. I just love to make fun of a hypocritical idiot.

As for Giffords, huh?

As long a you realize that the ultimate outcome is the defeat of self-loathing peons likee yourself,
it doesn't matter.

In what way has Warren been hypocritical, and how do you figure she's an "idiot"?

Your brand of "I'm laughing at you" is played out. You're not laughing, you just enjoy being a dick to people on the internet without fearing that you'll get smacked in the chops. A real patriot.

bugontherug: He also voted for the filibuster that ensured the Democrats couldn't pass a better health care reform bill, whereas Coakley would surely have helped break it. Scott Brown will always be a key vote for Republicans at critical moments to help defeat progressive reforms.

That's a little bit revisionist. By the time he made it to D.C., the only choices left on healthcare legislation were all uniformly bad. Whatever they put through was going to include zero cost controls (bad), permanently tie people to the employer paid model (really bad), and come with a mandate (idiotic).

Reform was ruined before he showed up.

She's a democrat, right? She'd have to be an idiot to be a pinko, liberal, commie socialist.

Thank you, good citizen!

3_Butt_Cheeks: Notabunny: Elizabeth Warren is 1/32 Cherokee

Please call her and give her the proof she has been praying for, because she hasn't been able to find any.

If you're related to the FFVs, I think you're 1/32d Native American by default, since they're all related to Pocahontas somehow.

That won't help Liz Warren, I think, but maybe she can marry into it.

Epoch_Zero:
I'm confused as to why arguments by someone on the left against a republican being clearly bought by the Koch brothers and their ilk are completely baseless, yet the "Obama is a Wall Street puppet!" argument isn't.

Because socialism.

Debeo Summa Credo:

Well, most of us can. The bigots and racist crawled from their pits after we elected a black Governor and black President.

Wait, I dont get it. You are saying that Massachusetts elected a black governor and voted for a black president, but he fact that they voted for a GOP white guy over a Dem white woman (who ran a terrible campaign) 2 years later means they are racist?

No, what he's saying is that the closet racists in Mass decided that after a black governor and a black president were elected they could let their freak flags fly. All that vitriol under the surface came bubbling out, like pus from beneath the scab of an infected boil.

Has nothing to do with the last election, and everything to do with the last election. For some republicans, every vote against anything related to the Democrats or their party or their platform or any word with the letter "D" in it is a vote against the current president - even if it's for town dog catcher. In essence, it wasn't really about Coakley - the rough riding republican race rangers came out to vote against Obama. Coakley was just an innocent bystander who got trampled under thousands of Derpy Hooves.

The point, you missed it.

That's a ridiculous and false premise.

I have to say, I really really like Warren.

but I really really think Republicans are corrupt asshats who would happily sell out 90% of us to curry favor with rich bankers.
