Carousel Beast: I've caught a bit of MLP and it's pretty good. I was more PPG, though. I watched that since it debuted on the What a Cartoon! show.

Still and all, though, there are a *lot* of people that can't wrap their heads around animation not being solely for kids. I'd like to show them the PPG "The Beat Alls" episode and ask them to tell me how that was ever intended for a child.

I miss cartoons like Animaniacs and Rocko's Modern Life for sheer innuendo potential. Jokes like "Finger Prince" and "Chokey Chicken" are hillarious examples of getting crap past the censors.

MLP manages to do it, but with a lot of fridge logic and subtlety.. A great example of this would be "saddles". There would be no reason for a pony to have saddles, except as a rather adult thing. Jabs about "not wearing clothes" and the like.

1) As 80-85% of Juggalos are convicted sex offenders, it seems only logical to lump them in the same category as these two deviants.

Yeah, but have you ever seen a GOOD show directed at young girls like this? Like it or not, MLP:FiM is groundbreaking.

Powerpuff Girls. Adventures of Billy and Mandy. I haven't seen Legend of Korra yet, but it looks promising. Even the two main female characters on Adventure Time do plenty of service towards the ladies. One is a badass, rock and roll vampire and the other is a genius scientist.

I don't know about groundbreaking. It's fine to like a show, but I don't get the MLP love. It's much better than the old MLP show, so I'll give you guys that. I watched the first 10-20 episodes trying to figure out what the appeal was, but I just found it boring. Adventure Time, for instance, is full of nerd humor and innuendo, and is much more cleverly written IMO. Regular Show is hilarious, especially if you're a child of the eighties. RS surprises me with what they get past the censors sometimes. Flapjack was another in a similar vein, before it went off the air.

There's been plenty of great Western animation that appeals to both kids and adults. The same values and message of "love and tolerance" can still be found in most of them too. I think this MLP thing blew up as more of a gathering, a nerd community, and that's where you guys are at now. Maybe it started as a joke, maybe not... but I dunno. I just don't think the show is good enough for all the attention it's getting.

As with everything, I enjoy the property itself while ignoring the fanbase.

I love Star Trek. I love (most of) Star Wars. I love Gargoyles. I love Firefly. I love both Avatar series.

And yes, I have come to accept the fact that I enjoy My Little Pony. I don't think it's the greatest show ever, nor do I issue proclamations of how people who don't like it are somehow wrong. I just find it charming, funny, and most importantly, genuinely sincere (which is probably the rarest element in any modern fictional media). I also fully understand why many people don't care for it, and that's fine, too.

Despite all of that, I feel no need to aggressively demonstrate these feelings at every opportunity to anyone that will listen. That absolutely pushy element of all fanbases is what drives me away from them. Just because I like something doesn't mean that I've agreed to join a club of people that happen to like the same thing.

I'm no Brony, nor a Trekkie, nor a Browncoat. I'm just a dude who enjoys things for the sake of enjoying them, not to become part of some movement with a social statement.

And I find Trekkies creepy for the fact that some of them have gone out of their way to not only adopt Star Trek more or less as a religion. But to learn an entirely fabricated language that is only spoken in the context of a sci-fi television show.
