Holy crap, Andrew W.K. is going to be there. That makes sense, seeing as how he and his wife are probably the only human beings who could keep up with the party animal that is Pinkie Pie.

The Furry Convention is this week in Pittsburgh. Frankly, a MLP convention would be a sane break in comparison.

Hmm...how to get the furries, the bronies and the juggalos all in one convention hall. And then lock the doors and turn off the water for six weeks.

The primary difference seems to be social stigma.

I REALLY don't understand how this pony fascination happened. Did everyone forget they were only liking the kid's show ironically?

This is likely the case. Just like GIFT indicates that anonymity+audience=farkwad, it's probably more indicative that anonymity+audience=outlet for unfiltered impulses. It's also the modern equivalent of pre-internet "special interest groups" that would meet for whatever nutty fanbase was out there. It's just that now it's real-time and ubiquitous instead of "every other Tuesday at Mildred's house, bring a casserole or dessert to share."

Imagine what the original "Star Trek" would have done to the internet had they been contemporary. This is nothing new -- it's just easier to see, and easier to find an audience (willing or otherwise) for your own unfiltered impulses.

ITT:

People who like MLP say why they like it and defend the show to their graves.

People who don't like MLP sit back and berate people who harmlessly enjoy a show for children.

Exacerbate original issues as needed to appropriately reflect tone of thread. Regardless, they all play out the same.

In the end if you don't like it, who cares? It's not your life and it doesn't affect you in any way shape or form. Roll your eyes all you want, and move on with your life. I wear pony shiat, and guess what? My wife thinks it's hysterical. I've never been hit on by women so much in my life(true story). People who biatch about it are merely proving why I'm not friends with them(no sense of humor.). And my friends get a damn good laugh out of it. Mission accomplished in my book.

There is nothing inherently masculine about liking a show for girls. Likewise there is no way in which not liking it makes you more masculine. Get over yourselves, accept that other people like shiat you don't and vice versa. And move on with your life. Seriously, let people have their harmless fun for god sake.

I would actually argue that liking Twilight is worse than being a Brony. At least most people laugh at the whole Brony thing(except the horrifyingly insecure, who do everything they can to try and put an end to it). Twilight is just a poorly written wanna be harlequin romance novel. How that tripe became popular is beyond me. But guess what? I hate it, yet will never belittle someone for enjoying it. If that's what floats your boat, cool. Enjoy it till the ship sinks.

The image macro is easy to explain: neither Harry Potter nor Narnia were written primarily for visual media. Both have had movies since then, but the books remain the big thing, and it's tough to make an image macro or user image out of a book. People try with the movies, but not to the same degree.

You would think so. Trust me, this is not the case. I've actually asked a few women what it is about the pony stuff that's doing it for them. From what I was told, they see it as a sign of open-mindedness and a great sense of humor. It tends to attract women who are.. I don't know. attracted to the anti-bro?

It's an odd dynamic, and I recommend trying it sometime. I'm the only guy I know irl who's willing to wear my little pony shirts in public(I'm married, so it's not like I'm trying to impress tha biatches ya know?), so I'm actually interested to see if anyone gets the same results.

Also, and I know I've said this before, My Little Pony shiat makes people go bananas in clubs. Between the shirts, and MLP themed songs(like pony swag) that I've dropped in sets, people love this shiat. It's all in how you wear it/view it yourself. If it's a source of humor to you, it's a source of humor to those around you. Projection is a powerful tool.

The original Twilight novel was, and is, intended for a young adult audience. It was a tween love story more or less. Once the popularity of the initial novel exploded beyond it's targeted demo, the stories got racier.

In central Kentucky there is a anime group that gets together once a month to play video games and watch anime. It usually ends up being about ponies at some point. There are worse things in the world to like or be obsessed over (pedos, Lil Wayne), so being a brony isn't that bad of a thing.

Just wait until someone hands her a mic and tells her to do a character- she can apparently only make her voice get up to dog-whistle octaves by being very loud.

VA editing booths have experienced audio engineers in them. PonyCon doesn't. Come prepared.
