race to the bottom. It's not just for free marketeers anymore!

What people on the left should do is continue to try to take the high road when it obviously does not move an agenda as well as the foxnews road, amirite?

perhaps if you're gonna embrace it you should be less touchy when people who don't embrace it call you a douchebag for it?

I'm just pointing out that the high road is a losing strategy for moving an agenda. People on the left should take concern about the level of political discourse from "conservatives" with a grain of salt. You all had your chance to reign it in for decades now.

I think you're a fool if taking the low road will work as well on lefties as it does on righties. The low road LOVES provincialism and a fist fight political mentality, us vs them, etc etc. The current American right LOVES provincialism and that sort of view of politics. If you think it'll play with anything but the most hackiest of partisan hacks on the left, I think you're doing a disservice to the people who are often claimed to be on the more cerebral side of the political spectrum

One way to get people to stop making mean jokes about the stupid things you say is to stop saying stupid things.

I don't know if you have seen this, but this is a pretty good article on the divide and classlessness that we currently see. Pretty good read.

hyperbole and extremist rhetoric have worked to the point that many people won't classify themselves as "liberal" even if they have liberal views. More people now think regressive type taxes are great and unions are bad than ever in recent history. So maybe it won't work on elitist/cerebral (whatever you want to call them) liberals but it isn't like they are going to suddenly vote republican because some other person that shares their views says they want Romney to die in a fire.

yeah, about that...
i am cranking busy (consulting) in multiple industries/professions right now and i am amazed week-after-week with the packed airliners, hotels & upscale restaurants i encounter.
there are plenty of jobs to be filled with large, medium and small companies right now - one big problem is that companies are not willing to train candidates up for the positions.
business is good enough, profits are solid and spending money on T&D is secondary right now.
i have friends/family/neighbors that are swamped with work because two ppl are often charged with the work of three

GameSprocket: The_Sheriff_Is_A_Niiii: topcon: Diogenes: The Mavrick: You sure are. You're agreeing that some random woman on television needs to be denounced because she doesn't like Romney. You're agreeing to that because it's exactly the same as Nugent being courted by the Romney campaign and then threatening the President. Exactly the same. And it doesn't matter that the right not only didn't rebuke Nugent, they defended him. Both sides are bad.

Well, here was a perfect opportunity to exercise consistent ideals. And I'm seeing a big heaping of FAIL.

Welcome to Fark. Where if you criticize anything or anyone resembling left of center, you're a sekret Republican.

No. If you criticize anything or anyone resembling left of center they label you a troll instead of saying anything remotely intelligent to rebut your point.

I don't think you are a troll, just mentally inadequate.

Sorry, but the whole "I dont agree with you so you must be an idiot" schtick is getting pretty old.

The Homer Tax: The_Sheriff_Is_A_Niiii: No. If you criticize anything or anyone resembling left of center they label you a troll instead of saying anything remotely intelligent to rebut your point.

Was the point you're expecting someone to rebut intelligent in the fist place?

At some point, it becomes tiresome and pointless to attempt intelligent responses to a constant barrage of "SOCIALISM! FREEDOM HATER! NANNY STATE! BIG GOVERNMENT! WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION!"

If you're looking for intelligent discussion, as Diogenes is attempting to demonstrate, then your first move should be to attempt in that yourself.

That's odd because about the only people I see ranting like that are you leftys in posts such as this, a rather lame generalization of those who disagree with you.

Companies are not willing to train and vo-tech programs that can teach people these skills are shunned by parents and prospective students because most helicopter parents balk at the thought of their little snowflake getting their precious hands dirty. Many, if not most, kids with the aptitude for highly skilled work llike that would rather get that theater degree and go tens of thousands of dollars in indentured servitude........er I mean......... student loan debt than work on a CNC machine or install a building's electrical system.

Sad, really, because there are thousands and thousands of skilled positions needing to be filled and nobody qualified to fill them.

MFL: For as intelligent progressives fancy themselves as being....why is it that the majority of people we see on TV pushing their causes are lunatics and idiots?

Because you're a dishonest knob who lies, ignores context and pretends that the largest cable "news" network in the country isn't a republican mouthpiece that routinely gives people like Erick Erickson and Ann Coulter a prime time slot to air their extremist views.

Any more questions?

Erick Erickson actually works as a contributor for CNN. I hardly consider that network a "Republican Mouthpiece" but then you'd know that if you bothered to unglue yourself from MSNBC for more then 10 minutes. Go right on making yourself look dumb though.

Rush Limbaugh is not dumb. He is vile and has learned how to get rich by being vile. If anyone wants to launch a campaign to give him infinite cock punches, I'll sign on.

If she hadn't filled in for Larry King a few times, I'd have no idea who Joy Behar is.

On another note, why are you so defensive about Sarah's love of brown Rice? Give the guy some credit. Probably the most clutch scoring he's ever done in a night.

Dan the Schman: And you're wrong. The federal government can and does provide funding for the hiring of government employees.

Not all government employees are the responsibility of the Federal Government to hire/pay etc.

Postal workers? Soldiers? Patent office clerks? Absolutely.
Cops, teachers and firefighters are purely a local/state issue. Write your state congressman or press your governor. The funniest thing I hear is when a state level politician says, "well, it wasn't like it was state money, It was federal money!" completely ignoring where the federal government gets it money to begin with.

I cant possibly see how it is efficient to impose a federal income tax which takes care of municipal functions, thereby requiring local county clerks, mayors and sheriffs to have to write grants to get it back. The problem also with this is that DC will grant money they dont have to hire teachers or cops for a certain time period, 5-10 years or so which then leaves the counties/states on the hook for the remainder of their tenure as well as their pension.

I know it sounds crazy but if your town needs a cop, firefighter or teacher, it should levy a tax to pay for them.

And once again you're wrong. In the 90s, Clinton provided grants to multiple states specifically for the hiring of hundreds of thousands of new police officers.

Romney, as governor, received money from the federal government for the hiring of police and firefighters.

If you continue to argue this point, you will shift from "simple misunderstanding" to either "wallowing in ignorance" or "knowingly lying".

Diogenes: The Homer Tax: Diogenes: No one cares about Ted Nugent either. But in the interest of fairness I think it's appropriate to denounce her words.

I don't care enough about Joy Behar to click this link, but did she say this asinine crap at a democratic political rally analogous to CPAC where President Obama was also speaking? Or did she just say it on some TV show no one watches?

There's kind of a difference.

No, and you do have a point. But instead of getting into a pissing match over whose words are worse or carry more import, I'm choosing to say Behar was over the line. Arguing degrees of wrongness in cases like this just perpetuates the larger problem: Assholes with big mouths.

It also distracts from the larger issue. That Mitt Romney has no farking clue how society works.

man, they are stupid! lol

Look at Mr. "try to make it personal" Attack. It's not about the prices brainiac... unless folks have tons-O-cash laying around they will need some kind of financing and that is pretty tight. Maybe if you had any idea what you were talking about you'd know that easily known fact.

Bought my first house when I was 24. (That was awhile ago.)

Thanks.

I'm not questioning its existence, I am questioning the logic behind it as an efficient way to manage municipal hiring
