It's not tug of war anymore.

Its "tug of artificially created conflict during which no one gets hurt"

I played croquet as a kid. It's a fun game. That said, I don't know what Olympic level croquet would even look like.

FTA, I gathered that there's a 2 sport wiggle room... who knows what we'll see in 2016 or 2020. As long as they keep the Modern Pentathlon, because honestly, if you don't have the skills to make it as a Prussian Officer - you ain't got skills at all.

But you're in the invisible antithesis zone! You have to hop on one foot backwards until you find the space-time-fracking wicket! The gold medal is mine!

You've fallen for the classic double-antithesis trap! What you have isn't the gold medal, but rather the opposite. I may not have the medal either, but unlike you I certainly don't not have it.

ya prolly. I watch them, but I'm not happy about it.

I'd like to see the following removed from the Olympics, or at least consolidated in some cases.

- Most team sports. Especially ones where a large number of the players don't have to actually do anything.
- "Sports" where the equipment does as much work as the athlete, and/or where the athlete barely breaks a sweat.
- Sports where luck is as much a factor as skill.
- Sports where the results are primarily decided by highly subjective judging.
- Redundant sports (do we really need to see people running around in an oval for a hundred different lengths?)
- Sports that unnecessarily segregate men and women. (Let's just have "Skeet", not a version for men and a version for women, for example).

So long golf, dancing (in various media), many of the "athletics" events, bobsleigh (especially 4 man), various forms of sailing, and so on.

Thank goodness baseball is gone.

"How did you earn your gold medal, Jim?" "Well, I spent half of each game standing in a field, waiting for a ball to come near me -- which it did! Twice! -- and most of the other half sitting on a bench waiting for my turn to swing a bat -- which I did! Three whole times!"

I don't care much what events they have except I firmly believe it should only include non-subjective competitions. Swimming relays: ok. Synchronized swimming: not ok.
