I doubt Miller will be able to return the favor in October

I thought it was complete and total arsebiscuitry that Bob miller and Jim fox didnt get to call the playoff games!

BOB MILLER IS THE VOICE OF THE KINGS. JIM FOX IS HIS LITTLE HENCHMAN FLUFFER GUY. THEY *ARE* THE KINGS ON THE AIR

These NBC guys were fine, sure, but they are not the Kings.

Yet another reason to have Bettman taken out and shot.

The Dodgers are the best team in baseball right now so I wouldn't be so sure about that.

Good news: The Kings aren't as heartless as you believe Bettman to be...

Hear LA Kings legend Bob Miller's Stanley Cup-winning call

/"arsebiscuitry"? Love it

Vin was talking about Miller and Chick Hearn on Monday's Dodgers game broadcast...he said one of his most prized possessions was a framed picture of the three of them together at a charity event back in the 80's...he also said that he and Hearn always, good-naturedly of course, made sure to show off their respective championship rings whenever Miller was around...Vin was, as usual, completely genuine (and awesome) in his praise for the Kings organization and Miller especially.

if anyone (besides a player) deserved this more than bob, i can't think of who that would be. bob is a great announcer and a class act, and has been the voice of the franchise for decades. so glad he got to do this.

You know, it occurs to me that if you won a Stanley Cup in pretty much any other city with an NHL team you would be able to dine out on that for the rest of your life. In LA it likely won't even get you ahead of LIndsay Lohan for a frappavodkamochalatte at Trendy's unless you are actually carrying Lord Stanley's Cup, and then only maybe.

I can, Pat Quinn for one and a host of other coaches and GMs who struggled through the ranks to even have a shot at being an integral part of a Stanley Cup winning team. Bob Miller is a class act and if having a good play-by-play guy had anything to do with winning it all, the Kings would have won the Cup 20+ times. But, come on, no one dreams about raising the cup as a media broadcaster.

Players, coaches, logos, and front offices come and go, but to have a consistent and damned fine voice of your franchise is incredibly important. The Kings were smart; they saw the Dodgers and Lakers and said, "we want you to know exactly what team is playing as soon as you hear the announcer's voice."

Now watch as I mute Steve Lyons and Whatshisname, who sound like a couple of schmucks who should be calling Diamondback games.

I've heard alot of kings fans say this, and it just shows how many of them have never watched hockey. This is nothing new, it happens to every team, every year who make it past the 2nd round.

Well, the Kings didn't want to screw over their usual radio guy (Nick Nickson, the greatest name ever) who's also been there 29 years, so we were stuck. Dodger fans mute the TV and turn up the radio to listen to Vinny when the team (rarely) makes the playoffs. But we couldn't do that this go round, and again, it wouldn't be fair to stick it to Nickson like that. I heard he offered to step aside so Miller could do radio, but Miller didn't want to be the bad guy. This was the compromise they came up w/.

Oh, and Joe Buck has gone on record that if the Dodgers make the World Series, he'd be more than happy to step aside and let Vinny call games.

You know the NHL doesn't decide who calls the game, right? In fact, no sports league does.

Muted the TV and listened to Nick Nickson's call of the Kings winning it on the radio, he didn't do bad actually.

Bob Miller and Nickson both don't sound like auction barkers either, which is my complaint with some hockey play-by-play guys. Nor do they tend to be homers, which is my problem with a lot of broadcasters (looking at Anaheim Ducks' troll/color guy Brian Hayward). When the Kings have played awful, they call it out, as Hearn did with the Lakers. Hell, Bob Miller even admitted the Kings might choke that Game 6 lead after all the epic fail he's seen in their history. And as a longtime Kings fan, I could see them taking the torch from the 1942 Red Wings in choking a 3-0 series lead.

It's a travesty that Miller and Fox didn't get to do play-by-play when you consider Doc Emrick was the voice of the Devils. Or that NBC's trio could be ridiculed in this fasion.

LA doesn't really boo Bettman that much. He didn't get much flak at the draft a few years ago and the Kings fans were too engrossed in what happened Monday night to care about him.

Now if he keeps saying that there's no way the winter classic can be held outdoors on the West Coast even though the New York Rangers and Kings played in a Las Vegas parking lot 20 years ago ...

They didn't boo him because the majority don't...follow...hockey. If it was really "too engrossed in what happened Monday night to care about him" then he would never get boo'ed at the cup presentation (which he has the past few years, minus this one).

Doc Emrick just needs to learn that sometimes it's OK to take it down to at most a 7 or an 8.

I was very glad to see Miller and Fox do post game shows on Fox Sports during the playoffs, though.

Many of us long time fans on LGK talked about it before the game and consciously decided not to "boo Bettman" so we could instead savor our first cup win ever without any negativity. I don't know about game 6 of the SC finals, but the majority of us regularly going to Kings games do, in fact, follow... hockey.

I've been enjoying Bob Miller and Jim Fox since before the Gretzky trade. If you haven't heard Bob, he really is a class act and the best hockey announcer I've ever heard. Admittedly I'm not in Canada, but I could not be happier for him.

THIS. His voice was the soundtrack of my childhood Saturdays calling NBC's Game of the Week.

/still think that when a team in a city that doesn't experience winter wins the Stanley Cup it makes the baby Jesus cry
