So, people want to see someone smash watermelons while We Are The Champions plays in the background?

As if anyone could actually replace Freddie Mercury.

Dream on.

2012-06-13 12:29:53 AM
The correct answer is no one.

No replacing Freddy, but have you seen/heard this rendering of "Under Pressure" with Bowie and Gail Ann Dorsey? Respectable, respectful treatment IMHO. Link

I'll take Jimmy Somerville (From Bronski Beat) for $200, Alex

IF Queen persists in this madness of touring/playing shows with replacements for Freddie (and John), there's really only one person for the job:

static-l3.blogcritics.org

Seriously. Adam Lambert has the voice, that's for sure. No matter what you might think of his image or whatnot, the man can sing. He loves Freddie and Queen, he's sung with them before, he's doing shows with them this summer.

Liam Gallagher? Oh, drunkard please. He was OK when his brother was stealing ideas from other people, but that twat singing stuff like Somebody To Love? Hahahahahahahaha.

2012-06-13 01:51:43 AM
Thats the joke?

I second Marc Martel. Dude's got the pipes and the look.

As much as it pains me to say this, I'm going to have to vote Lambert as well.

Yes, but in all fairness you could have Bowie and Gail Ann Dorsey torch Mother Theresa in effigy and it would be fantastic.

Funny, the headline says that, but if you go to the poll you see it's not even close:

---------------

Voted Top 5

1. Adam Lambert
9.56/10

2. George Michael
4.74/10

3. Jake Shears
3.65/10

4. Paul Rodgers
3.05/10

5. Liam Gallagher
2.77/10

----------------

Though I can't say for sure what those numbers mean, exactly.

Agreed. While his brother Noel is brilliant IMHO, Liam is a nearly talentless mulaka that got lucky and can DIAF for all the world cares.

Rubber Biscuit: Gigwise: the website by and for the Gallagher brothers.

You clearly don't know the bros. If the site was 'for' one of them, the other is guaranteed to be plotting to go all 'Hulk Hogan on the Twin Towers' on it.

There's this guy, but he's a religious fundie, so he may not be the right fit for the band even though he's got the voice.

But it's pretty much Lambert's gig to lose at this point. Case in point.

Serial: But it's pretty much Lambert's gig to lose at this point. Case in point.

Yo check this out, dawg. Great song selection and it really fits. Lambert's got the attitude, you know what I'm saying, dawg.

But I gotta say it was kind of pitchy in parts.

There are a lot of singers that can do some of the things that Freddie did. Some have the range. Some have the power. Some have the control. Nobody has it all though. Remember the memorial concert where the biggest singers of the time came out to cover his songs? Every one of them sucked except for George Michael (who I hate).

2012-06-13 04:13:50 AM
The guy from The Format/Fun. Could probably do a decent job.

2012-06-13 04:18:18 AM
NO ONE can replace Freddy. But if they insist on putting someone out there, it would have to be 1. Lambert, 2. George Michael.

2012-06-13 04:22:04 AM
Bowie's not doing anything at the moment. He's got the same kind of theatrical flair that Freddie had and he's already associated with the band.

/It's a shame that George Michael is such a wreck - his rendition of "Somebody to Love" at the benefit concert was superb.

2012-06-13 04:30:45 AM
Lambert or Mika.

What the hell happened to Paul Rodgers?

That was the only thing George Michael has ever done that I liked. Still hate the guy, but I respect him for that performance. He put everything he had into it.

2012-06-13 07:15:41 AM
Why dont they just do the hologram thing like they did with Tupac. The band won't have to pay or put up with the douche from Oasis. Its win win

2012-06-13 08:04:55 AM
I am a massive Queen fan - but really only of anything before 1980, after that it all went a bit stadium and bland.
The Queen of today are little more than a tribute band to themselves. Very, very sad.

Might be just a tad too old now. His voice is quite a bit more bass-y than when he was young.

And where is he these days? I can't recall him doing anything since maybe that magic movie where he played Tesla.

He mocked himself really well on Ricky Gervais' "Extras". It was really funny.

Is one of the requirements of being Queen's new lead singer have to do with contracting AIDS?

Lambert, you need somebody fabulous to fill the void

I thought George Michael did a decent job at the Freddy tribute concert back in the day and I don't even like George Michael.

2012-06-13 09:31:29 AM
How about a really throaty, powerful woman singer?

Lots of those making nuisances of themselves on the pop charts. Put one of them to good use.

Can't even think of a name.

Holy crap. All he needs is a couple of belts, and he'd look like a Final Fantasy protagonist.
