robsul82: TheManofPA: because they'd beat an unready OKC team.

They may be young but they reaaaaaaaaaaaaa-daaaaaaaaaaay...

KD with 17 in the 4th.

105-94 Oklahoma City, FINAL.

1-0 Oklahoma City series lead.

It was a well played 2nd half, surprised me how fast they bounced back. I thought age would have caused some buttclenching game 1 that would have blown the series already. Now they have to play a complete game 2 and not fall victim to their success (i.e. everyone wants to be series MVP)

And that's game 1.

Good job, good effort everyone.

A ring for Lebron!

Lebron played well. Wade played OK. The Heat were hot from three point range. Harden didn't do much at all. But OKC still won comfortably.

Hmmmmmmmm.......

Gunny Highway: TheJoe03: Gunny Highway: Will Miami win all 3 games on their home court?

Not a chance.

Can they win 2 in OKC?

1 at best, I think OKC in 6.

Linsanity!

2012-06-12 11:46:04 PM

jayhawk88: I don't think you can say LeBron disappeared in the 4th. He had 7 points, was looking to get his shot off, not settling on long jumpers or standing around while Wade took over. Just didn't hit that many, good D by OKC.

Exactly.

And the biggest thing was how the Heat got f*cking WORKED on the boards in the second half. They had an advantage in rebounds at halftime, and they finished -8 on the glass.

Mike Miller playing 10 minutes and Joel Anthony playing 2 is all f*cked up unless Miller was shooting like Battier.

Hard to imagine after this performance. Pretty significant I think the Thunder were able to come back in this one. Miami played pretty damn good that first half, especially the 1st quarter, and OKC just strangled them in the second half. Durant closed, Westbrook didn't kill them, OKC role players/bench outplayed Miami's.

BTW what happened to Harden down the stretch here? He only played 19 minutes and near as I can tell wasn't even in their at all for the 4th. Four fouls, but still.

2012-06-12 11:46:58 PM

TheManofPA: I gotta say, I was balls wrong on game 1. I thought the Heat would take it in 5 because they'd beat an unready OKC team. OKC turned it up in the 2nd half and erased the lack of readiness in the 1st half.

I'm still concerned though that the Heat can take game 2. If so, it'll be very rough to get to them at home. OKC needs to make sure Westbrook doesn't try to be the MAN in game 2 and let's Durant do his thing again.

but but... spo makes great 2nd half adjustments!

So was Chalmers hurt tonight, or was he "hurt" tonight? There were a few times he was going down on one knee in the middle of the game.

They were hot from 3-point range for a quarter and a half. That disappeared pretty quickly and so did their lead. LeBron played average (for him). Wade played "meh" and Bosh didn't really show up. The frontcourt was atrocious. Lots of room for improvement.

On the way back to our car from the game. Ahhhhhh yeah baby. Was the officiating as bad in the fourth as it looked from the stands?

Heat wouldn't let him get open, they played the pick and rolls with him very well.

Not really - calls were "evening it out" calls. If you hadn't been getting the benefit of the doubt for the whole game, you wouldn't have noticed 'em.

/Thunder should've had two more on that "offensive goaltend" though

Based on these playoffs, I think the 1st half strategy is to "be losing" because it seems that in close games, the team losing at half has won.

My Heat in 6 was predicated on the Heat winning tonight. Not
Feeling great about it now

Just so we all agree, this loss is all on LeBron, right?

2012-06-12 11:52:26 PM
The one nice thing about it being a road game 1 is that it let Spoelstra try some sh*t out without the pressure of "if we lose one, we lose homecourt."

If they have Miller out there that long again, as well as Battier/Wade guarding Durant instead of LeBron all series, well, then he's an idiot.

If you look at his final numbers, they weren't particularly terrible, especially when you look at how he's played for the past couple weeks (mostly crappy then, too). So I say "meh" because while I know he's typically capable of better, I don't know if he's capable of much better RIGHT NOW.

They'll get some wins. They'll maybe even figure out that they should have players who can get rebounds in so that Collison doesn't embarrass their whole front line.

They just called two more fouls on the Thunder for almost touching LeBron on the way to the locker room

Or maybe they'll just say "F*ck it - hey LeBron, we need 40-20-5 out of you and for you to guard Durant."

He's going to have to move somewhere he can get decent players around him. That rookie up in Cleveland looks great.

They just called three more on the Heat for being in the same building as Sefolosha.

Fair enough. Ive just saw him take bad shots, commit moronic turnovera, and play shiatty defense. After what I saw him do against the Pacers, im not even remotely impressed

Disclaimer: I hate LeBron. Great player but my god he whines. That said, he didn't lose this game. LeBron actually had a pretty good game. It was the rest of his teammates that played like junk in that second half and mainly that 4th quarter.

The Thunder is just so strong. Their defense was just incredible that second half. The Thunder just wasn't losing this game tonight.

Do I really need to go in depth on that? Wade is on the decline, Bosh is still a bit rusty, and the Heat bench is pretty farking bad for a finals team. They also have a bad center and at best a backup PG starting.

Okay, early morning coming up. Good thread. Enjoy the rest of the series, I'm going back on "No Fark game threads = Heat wins" sabbatical.

They have to put LeBron on Durant. He's the only guy on the team that can come close to checking him.

Anyway, fun game. See you all Thursday.

Some might even say that he gave good effort, and did a good job.

2012-06-13 12:00:13 AM
All the above is the reason I knew they'd lose last year and they didn't make any real improvements. OKC is just as good, if not slightly better, than Dallas was last year (other than the experience factor).

2012-06-13 12:02:34 AM
I was rooting for Oklahoma City, but I hate how this is gonna set up the narrative, and you know all of the braintrust sports commentators will bite.

The thing is, if Miami steals Game 2, they're going back to Miami for three straight games with the series tied 1-1.

Chunks McGunks: That rookie up in Cleveland looks great.

LOL, LeBron going back to Cleveland would be the most hilarious things to ever happen in American sports. So would Durant going to a potential Sonics expansion team.
