cc_rider: Benevolent Misanthrope: Corporate Self: In America, we have a term for areas where our backward inbred racist rural simpletons of our society gather ...

We call it "The South" "church".

/alternately, "The GOP"

The Tea Party, even.

Greece's neo-Nazi Golden Dawn Party, France's Marine Le Pen (who writes underwater), etc

Oh farking HUG IT. You probably think that Texas is part of the South, too.

dittybopper: PsiChick: They like 'refresh the tree of liberty', too.

You know who else like that quote?

Thomas Jefferson, that's who.

Well sure, it was a pretty enlightened thing to say in the eighteenth century. Back then, killing or enslaving a bunch of people was considered a civilized alternative to work.

To say the same thing in the 21st century is a very different thing. Extremists think that quoting Thomas Jefferson makes them sound like enlightened polymath patriots; to everyone else, they sound like they'd rather live in an age where you can beat mill workers in lieu of pay.

The_Original_Roxtar: dittybopper: Kar98: pacmanner: Interesting article cuz I'm an ex-pat living in Leipzig. I'm from Texas and I am Hispanic but I have never had any issues in the 4 years that I have lived here. I do live in an "anti-fa" part of town however. You do see signs and graffiti around town with anti-fascist slogans and stuff like that. Every once in a while I do get a "Wo kommst du?" question and everytime I answer Texas cuz for some reason they love the idea of Texas and cowboys and Indians.

"Woher" kommst du? "Wo" kommst du would be "where are you coming?"

In deine Mutter.

ich habe sex mit deine schwester

Then again, who doesn't. So eine Schlampe...

Well, it certainly is full of backward, racist, rural simpletons, fought at the side of the Confederacy, is located in a somewhat southerly part of the country... yup, south.

White power never went away in Europe, it's probably stronger than ever - Even in unlikely places [Switzerland!!]

I'd prefer to be forced a cotton field as opposed to an oven. Just sayin'. Glass houses and all.

Awwww! Is somebody cranky today?

How about this: Pick any quote from the Neo-Nazi group mentioned in the article, and I'll show you a near identical quote from someone in the GOP (lets say ... since 2008). If you can find a quote that I can't match up to a GOP politician, I'll take back what I said.

Sounds a lot like the Confederate flag-waving, South-will-rise-again racist motherfarkers in the US.

EvilRacistNaziFascist: in North America we don't have to worry about tiny fringes of neo-Nazis nearly as much as we do about hardcore leftists yearning to make a final end-run around democracy

Wait. What?

On the right, we have a low double digit number of GOP members, mainly Christian Nationalists, 'Racialists', and militias with radical anti-government sentiments openly arming up for revolution and stockpiling weaponry at a rate never seen before, and talking about violent overthrow at all levels openly, even their political candidates ('Second Amendment solutions', anyone?). Those in the GOP that don't openly espouse this at least tolerate it, usually with a wink and a nod.

On the left we have less than a fractional percentage point of avowedly non-violent wackos that at one point camped in parks, ones that don't even have widespread support of those who identify with the left. In the middle of that were a tiny contingent of violent anarchists, ones that couldn't even get widespread support among the wackjob campers.

/The fact you identify one as a threat to a free society and the other one not tells us a lot about you personally. Nothing very complimentary, but a lot nonetheless.

On-Off: craxyd: Used to go to a club in Meiningen back when I was stationed in Germany. There was most always a pack of 10-15 Nazi skinheads in the place but they didn't bother us American "auslandern" even though they had us outnumbered by as many as 3 to 1 at times. Hell, there was a couple months that I'd be the only American soldier in the place.

By my observation, they maintained an attitude of "Don't start none, won't be none."

no, it's just 3 to 1 isn't enough of a numerical advantage against young fit mens. They aren't that courageous.
By 10 to 1 they might have attacked

They had odds like that in their favor on multiple occasions when I would go there by myself

The latter? 1945, unless there are more recent cases you can think of of people being systematically murdered and cremated. Or are you being pedantic about "forced into gas chambers, THEN shoved into ovens"?
