What I find scary is the number of women at my job who still have the high-teased bangs. You know they've been wearing their hair like that since 1987. Not attractive on women in their forties.

Let the mocking commence.

I believe that big red T. rex on your shelf is one of my all-time favorite toys. Glow-in-the-dark claws and teeth?

OH YES.

And for some reason I'm now reminded of the glow-in-the-dark zombie pirate doll I had. I dropped him down the corner where my bed met the wall and was too scared to retrieve him. I spent months sleeping with my pillows piled up over the gap so he couldn't climb back up.

/cool childhood story bro

styckx: Hmm, the 80s. I only got semi influenced by that decade.. My `coming of age' years was a crossover from the late 80s into the 90s. Early 90s wasn't much better though. I kind of lost track of what stupid fad fell into what decade.. I just remember Skidz, IOU and BUM Equipment, Rat tails, Z-Cavarici, Hypercolors, pump up Reboks, Slap braclets, girls who traded one of their chuck taylors for their best friends and wore them mix-match, Jams Shorts..

Get the hell out of my head!!!!!!

We're through being cool
We're through being cool
Eliminate the ninnies and the twits
Going to bang some heads
Going to beat some butts
Time to show those evil spuds what's what
If you live in a small town
You might meet a dozen or two
Young alien types who step out
And dare to declare
Spank the pank who try to drive you nuts
Time to clean some house
Be a man or a mouse
Waste those who make it tough to get around
If you live in a big place
Many factions underground
Chase down mister hinky dink
So no trace can be found
Put the tape on erase
Rearrange a face
We always liked Picasso anyway
Mash 'em

I bet they hog all the cake when its someone's birthday too

They do at my place. And some of them are still wearing the shiny polyester blouses too, wafting around in clouds of Giorgio perfume, with shiny hosiery that looks like their legs have been stuffed into sausage casings.

Harry in 1980. That 'druggie haircut' was the bane of the Command Sergeant Major. The pencil in the ear? No reg against it.

Got to wear civvies when we went downtown to assemble the newspaper for the command.

All the stuff on the walls were funny captions that I wrote for photos we received the Army Public Affairs. Evil 'grip 'n grins', PX Exchange openings and evergreens. See? I was farking even before there was a Fark.

Holy hell, what we used to do with our fringes in the eighties. My eyeballs still have a lingering film of hair lacquer on them. (And electric blue mascara.)

Ishkur: NateAsbestos: How in the hell is this one "awkward"? Because to me it looks AMAZING

I don't think people really understand how all-pervasive Nintendo was in the 80s. It wasn't just a video game system, it was a lifestyle and a culture. We didn't just play Nintendo, we ate Nintendo cereal and slept in Nintendo jammies. At school, all we talked about at recess and lunch was Nintendo, because the games were hard and there was no Internet back then so we mostly relied on our friends for tips, tricks, secrets and maps. And Nintendo Power Magazine. On the odd occasion when you beat a game, you quickly turned on your VCR and plugged in your "Nintendo Endings" VHS cassette and pushed record, because you'd never know if you'd ever get the chance to beat the game again. And you needed to prove it to your friends.

So that picture is far from awkward. That kid was very easily the most badass kid in his school.

Plus we all became plumbers.
