Out of curiosity- when they do fashion design, are the shoes also custom or off the rack? Couldn't they actually test the damn shoes to makes sure they are stable enough?

Apparently weak ankles is a sign of malnourishment.

Yes. Yes, I would.

2012-06-12 06:56:46 PM
I like how the other models in a few of those clips just kept on walking and not stopping to help out

2012-06-12 06:59:57 PM
the dejected hat at the end made the video for me

I dunno, will there be Yakety Sax?

2012-06-12 07:03:31 PM
Who thought it was a good idea to build a gauntlet on the runway?

2012-06-12 07:03:44 PM
I thought for sure that the James Brown-esque footwork of the leggy blonde in red would save her from a spill.

2012-06-12 07:04:45 PM
Before Yakety it was skinny, sad girls falling down. After Yakety, comedy gold.

2012-06-12 07:06:43 PM
Lol, what the fark was the one with the bigass pendulum near the end? It's like Indiana Jones meets anorexic chicks in big shoes. Who thought that was a good idea?

skinbubble: I like how the other models in a few of those clips just kept on walking and not stopping to help out

I would think they're told to keep on walking. No need to derail the entire show because of one clumsy model.

And what the hell is with the pendulum crossing the stage? Seems tough enough just to walk in those ridiculous outfits, but to have them navigate an obstacle course as well?

2012-06-12 07:14:22 PM
It's like NASCAR!

That pendulum seemed eerily sentient, didn't it?

"Move those twigs, woman! Get the hell off the stage!"

AverageAmericanGuy: Who thought it was a good idea to build a gauntlet on the runway?

I dunno, but I'd like to buy him a beer. Now show me a film clip of child beauty pageant contestants being blasted off the stage with fire hoses. Now, internet. Now!

I'm starting to think that all fashion shows should be more like obstacle courses!

Scrotumnal Equinox: the dejected hat at the end made the video for me

Sad hat was great. The other one that made me laugh was the pendulum victim.

2012-06-12 07:53:14 PM
I enjoyed the one with a second model falling in the background as the first one is being helped to her feet.

That's the best laugh I've had on Fark in months. Thanks, subby.

World Wide Interweb? Is this a new Drew side business?

Man, the one that went down curled up like she lost the super bowl. I guess it's really important to them.

You know when I first read the headline I thought that the whole concept was cruel. Then I watched the video.

It seems malnourishment, champagne and high heels when mixed with vapid attention whores is pretty amusing.

Falling down for two minutes? Damn, these chicks are tall!

I believe the pendulum thing was from "The Next Top Model." Only someone batshiat crazy as Tyra Banks would think that is a good idea.

I hate that I'm able to second this, but I do remember the pendulum runway from one of the many seasons of America's Next Top Model. Brought to you by the same people who brought you this:

And it wasn't just one pendulum; there were at least two of them. I think I remember that level from Half-Life.

As much as I love the pendula of doom and the sad hat, my favorite has to be about 28 seconds in where one just falls through the floor and disappears.

/Hey Charlie, lemme ask you somethin'. What is it that's not exactly water, and it ain't exactly earth?

Am I the only one that finds it absolutely amazing that fashion shows still go on?
I mean, it's not like anyone actually buys that shiat.

well, it was explained to me by a gf once that they dont actually sell that stuff either for the most part.

usually the shows are more like a way to make a splash, get people talking, show off your style and creative skills in tailoring or whatever. in the end what actually is on the shelves and in stores is probably related to the collection but a lot of the ridiculous stuff is just more like a costume for a play.

there are shows for wearable clothes too i guess (pret-a-porter?) but it's less likely you see someone falling on their ass in sensible shoes i suppose

Other may have chuckled, but I've sprained my ankles a few times and each time Twiggy would wobble (ankle inversion) I would wince in sympathetic pain.

Yep, ANTM. Some stupid Ms. Jay scheme.

/or so I've heard

Oh my gosh, it pains me to watch when the model's ankles go this way and that.....holy frijoles. I've sprained my right one more than a couple times, and the doctor said it would have been better if I'd broken it.

2012-06-13 02:20:12 AM
What makes it funny is that the fashion world takes itself so seriously. Well, that and the wobbly ankles.

2012-06-13 03:24:46 AM
Damn. I really felt sorry for these girls. There's some real injuries there - concussion, broken tailbone, torn up ankles.

oh well, they chose that line of work.

there's probably a mean casting couch in that business, too.

I found the ones where the staging floor collapsed. Yeah, it's not HER fault the farking stage wasn't done right, but it was still funny.

Once the ankles start giving way and the arms n legs start flailing to save them they look like newbie trannys.
