I dont blame him, average RB career is 4 years and he is getting paid crap for what hes producing, with all the networks out there he can find a job doing something, as long as he can speak clearly I am assuming he can but even if he cant he could do it since sharpe has had a long career and you cant understand half of what he says.

Oh man his HC/OC is Mularkey too, there is no way I would go back unless they gave a ton up front, he wears down RBs to where they are useless in a few years.

Well that changes everything. Up until yesterday I was thinking the Jags could win at least 1 game this season, now that's up in the air.

Wow, for the smallest of split-seconds I thought that headline meant that he was talking to Miami. Then I woke up to #85 and the world was back to where I left it: shiatsville-Finsland, FL.

His services to the Jaguars next year should be worth more than $5 million. We haven't gotten to see it lately but MJD is money in the passing game too, whether catching or blocking.
Decisions are always made on the margin. If the Jags thought his value to the team next year was a lot less than $5 million, they would cut MJD. It is only fair for MJD to treat the Jags the same way, regardless of a signing bonus paid 3 years ago.

Which part because the average is 4-5 years for RBs, its not that hard just look it up. Some have careers that last shorter some longer but fact remains as a RB he has to make as much money as he can since his career is among the shortest. Hes was the top rusher in the league last year and is getting paid poorly in comparison to his output, I dont blame him for wanting to hold out since in a few years they will cut him and owe him nothing anyway.

It appears you know nothing about football.

Cantor Gaming says 5.5. They at least beat the Lucks once, a win at Minnesota week one wouldn't be a shocker, nor would a split with the Titans, then maybe catching the either the Bills/'Phins/Bungles/Raiders with their pants down.

First part... "top rusher" is not a statistic. He led the league in total rushing yards... there's more to it than that. And he's paid in the top 8 in the league for RB's in base salary... top 4 or so if you count his signing bonus which is paid out at about 3.5m a year. That is hardly "getting paid crap" for what he has produced. It's not even really 'underpaid' for what he has produced. MJD is one of the best in the league... and he's paid accordingly.

Second... MJD already has a very strong media presence on radio and TV and will have a nice post-football career in media. Not knowing that means you're not paying attention.

He was my C.O. in NAM. CIA listed him as M.I.A. but the V.A. ID'd him and so we put out an APB.

Jags fan here. Jax native. Usually i'm ok with players that aren't getting paid their due holding out, but the whole "he only makes 4m this year" is BULL. He had a front loaded contract. He averages over 6m per year (not the 4 that everyone would have you believe) and got a 9m sign bonus.

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/jacksonville-jaguars/maurice-jones-drew/

The problem with this is there is still 2 years left on contract. Wait til NEXT year to hold out. He is starting a trend that i unfortunately see happening more often now and it's disturbing.

He has his own radio show. He's pretty good at it too.

I think he's right to pull this. He's been the only good player the Jags have had for a few years now, and they've really been beating him down. On another team, one where the answer isn't always "give the ball to Mojo and hope", he might have done a lot better.

That said, with the addition of Laurent whatshisname and our new draft picks, we have other options. Other teams can no longer put every single blocker on MJD. It will be quite interesting to see what happens this year.

Oh, and his name is hyphenated to honor his grandfather, who died in the stands when he was playing in high school or college.

Oh, and screw you all, the Jags aren't that bad. Watch what they do this year.

I'm seriously contemplating taking the over on 5.5 Wins (something like a +105). With a fairly unheralded defense, if they pull off something crazy like being 4-1 in games decided by a TD or less it's not terrible.

Granted you'll probably be sweating out the middle of the seaon waiting for them to get to 4 but my friends and I have bet on worse things.

They were 6th in D and 1st in rushing last year. If Garrard is the QB they probably win 10 games. If the new coaching staff (which looks terrific btw) can get the passing offense up to 15th or so then the Jags will come from way off the radar to be pretty good.

True, they put up some good numbers on defense down the stretch but ask anyone outside of SEC Country to name three guys on that defense and you'll get more mentions of Hendu and Stroud than most of the current starters. Maybe this year Henne comes in and plays Captain Checkdown, too. Either way, saying 5-11 offhand because of Gabbert isn't well thought out. The current regime isn't married to him even if he is Gene's boy.

What I'm saying is that, all other things being equal to last year, Gabbert should improve enough this year that they will be better than most people expect. Last year was about as bad a situation as a rook could be put in, this year I think we'll see a much better QB.

Say that out loud, taking NO breaks if there isn't a comma. That is one big ass sentence turned into a rambling steam of consciousness.
