The only time I ever judge a person by their shoes is when looking for a new apartment. If the landlord wears scruffy shoes (especially if they have holes in them), he will not maintain the property well.

/Holes in the shoes means duct tape to fix ... everything

I really don't think that anyone could surmise anything remotely accurate about me by my most frequently worn shoes.

I own a pair of birkenstocks, a pair of Tevas, some Lands End rather plain but functional shoes for cold/bad weather, a couple of pairs of sneakers, two pairs of hiking boots, and a few pairs of Army combat boots in various styles due to the ACU changeover. Time of year and purpose determines which of those I wear, but the few pairs of girly shoes I own are for special occasions only and rarely see the light of day.

My primary goal with shoes other than the Birks, is to be able to either run away without breaking an ankle or else at least kick my attacker a few times before hopefully then running. I like to think that's a big part of why I've never really been hassled when I've been in bad parts of cities.

2012-06-12 06:15:08 PM
If you looked at my shoes, you would probably think "homeless".

Hah. Well, that's really not far off. Sneakers frequently come untied for me, unless I remember to double knot them. Then they never come untied and eventually become slip-ons...

After a while, that gets frustrating.

That is exactly what your shoes convey. LOL.
