FTA: "I love my son. I always will."

Pardon me for doubting you, ma'am. But I don't think you love your son. If you did, you would want him to have equal protection under the law. I don't think you love your son at all.

"He voted against civil unions to uphold the will of Colorado voters," the e-mail said. "(Praise God!)"

These people are farking insane...

I'm really glad they're making laws based on their religion. (God Bless)

She's just love him so much more if he would bring home a nice girl.

Go fark yourself, Marsha.

Poor guy. Not about being outed as gay, but being outed as the son of a close-minded, troglodyte, Republican politician. I'm sure all his friends will want to avoid him, now. Thanks, mom.

I love my disgusting, perverted son who doesn't deserve to be considered a full citizen.

Ah, the Compassionate Christian, who hates her own son for genetic differences because the representatives of an invisible sky wizard told her too.

Seriously, I'm so sick of all Christians. Bring back the goddamn lions.

"my family members' personal lives are not a legitimate avenue for my campaign, or any other campaign to discuss."

As if someone else leaked the information? Did she fire her campaign manager? If not why should I believe that this was inadvertent?

Cannot believe no has picked up on the "Non-story over zealous staffer" meme aspect of this story yet

FTA: "I am disappointed that my campaign manager forwarded an e-mail that would include any member of my family in policy discussions," Looper said in a statement she issued today after being contacted by The Denver Post.

She didn't out him, her campaign manager did. Not that that makes her opposition to civil rights for her own son's peer group any less indefensible.

I love that these regressive assholes think another citizen's right to marry should be decided by a popular vote...

I'm glad I live in Massachusetts.

I don't know what the problem is. Marsha is a great woman. Having said that her only recourse to having given birth to one of the gay demons is suicide.

Marsha do it for the cause, take personal responsibility for your sinful vagina. She is trying to fight the good fight on behalf of Jesus but the ultimate win for Gawd would be for her to start her journey to Hell as quickly as possible.

Marsha you NEED to stand up for what you believe in.

Well, I suppose the harpy ought to think about the ramifications her positions might have on her own offspring.

I didn't mean to imply I had any actual info to back that up... just a hunch. If my parents thought I was an abomination in the eyes of the Lord, I don't think we'd see too much of each other.

I admire my gay son's adherence to the old ways and pray that upon the coming of the elder gods he is among those devoured first.

See, that's the thing about these hardcore types. In her head, she does love him, and that's why she wants to change him and make him normal in the eyes of her god, and this is just all part of that process.

She managed to put it a clever way, it works if you don't think about. He's not a person, he's a gay. She doesn't love her son as a person, she loves her son like she loves Fresca, or the family cat.

Well, this is awkward... I've already been gay married and it's going to be a while before gay polygamy is legalized here in the Commonwealth.
Maybe we can just gay shack up?

You all are just being mean. She loves her son, but only when he doesn't rub his sexuality in her face by being in a long term committed relationship.

She prefers that he keep his sinful sexual activity brief, anonymous, and hopefully without repeat partners. She's kind of meh on his safety during these encounters too, but she's much too polite to talk about that outside of private fundraising events.

And don't get me started on how she feels about the possibility of her son wanting to adopt children! Lordy, she'd see him in the ground first!

There's a pretty big disconnect going on here. On the one hand, she thinks the rights of gay people are acceptable things to campaign on, to publicly discuss, to deliberate on, and to vote on. On the other, she thinks her son's privacy should be respected.

Well, dumbass, if you think your son's private life should be respected, stop publicly discussing and campaigning on whether or not gay people like your son can have a private life that includes marriage!

I tend to avoid certain family events that require me to be exposed to my older brothers family. They are all happy to see you and boyfriend and then when they get home they write checks to rabid anti-gay groups and show up at anti-gay marriage protests. Nothing will change these peoples minds about the subject.

/I ran into my sister-in-laws sister at a marriage protest last year - needless to say we were not on the same side
//although this makes who to invite to our wedding easier to choose from

If I was gay and my parents were religious bigots, I would totally troll their asses. I would claim to have not asked for it, but they passed on their recessive gay genes to me so it's ALL YOUR FAULT! I HATE YOU FOR MAKING ME LIKE THIS! Just so that they think long and hard about their bigotry.

/Thanksgiving would be a hoot

On the upside someday he'll pick her nursing home.

Her feculent, roach-infested nursing home staffed by former Spetznaz interrogators bitter over the lack of quality borscht in the region where the only TV channel is The Small Wonder Network.

I wonder if there has ever been a lawsuit based on that.

I recently found out I have a mother like this, so I'm getting a kick out of these comments.

Oh she loves ME, just not all of those choices I make that go against God and society, the way I live my life, or any of the things that make up my identity. Those things are all horrible. But since they're somehow distinct from me personally it doesn't lessen the love.

/yay therapy!
//good luck to the gay Looper

Perhaps if she had raised him as a Mormon, he would have been able to suppress his sinful homo urges and end up happily married to a woman, with three children.

Um, no she didn't subby.
