German ref ... what could possibly go wrong?

Russia and Germany teaming up to screw Poland? That's unpossible!

it's a triangle of hate!! of course being stuck between the russians and the germans usually ends rather poorly for the polish. and i think that will be case today as well.

This always reminds me why international tournaments are better than club competitions. Club tourneys, especially Champions League are a higher quality of soccer, but the players are all hired guns w/ no ties at all to most of the fans, similar to North American sports. National tournaments are blood feuds, national and ethnic stereotypes writ large, and other ugly political and religious problems distilled into a 90 minute catharsis. These fans are a couple of blown calls away from outright war.

Geographically, but people older than 30 probably still separate Europe into Western and Eastern Europe along the Iron Curtain.

I still do.

I'm a photojournalist and its layout day, I have nothing to do so I am sitting here at the office, working on my laptop, with the external monitor streaming the game. It's fun when the boss is on vacation.
