I'm delighted to see that you're interested in all the facts being revealed and that justice is served. As opposed to rubbing your hands together in partisan glee.

As TPM reported last month, the impact of the proceedings will be almost entirely political. Even if the House passed the contempt resolution, they would have to sue Holder in federal court and the issue would not be resolved for years.

I DO think "Fast and Furious" was a horrible debaucle and someone needs to answer for it, and if someone - including Holder did anything illegal or covered it up or lied under oath, that they should be punished.

But if anyone should go to prison for Fast and Furious, it should be the executives at Universal pictures.

So fu*king pathetic.

Let me see if I can explain this through the use of a metaphor: It's like you're playing in a football game and your side did something like, oh I don't know, lie repeatedly and blatantly to get the country in an unnecessary war and then drove the economy off a cliff, but you're upset because the other team was offsides 20 years ago.

Party before country, right?

So you're saying that this issue, which led to someones death is minor because that perjury was minor? And what the hell does this have to do with the war? Oh i see, you're just mad as hell about it and want it as a part of every issue.

The F&F debacle is plenty enough reason for Holder to be fired. What happened on his watch is a genuine scandal and no one should defend it.

Which makes it perfectly fine for the Attorney General of the United States to supply them with with more weapons at the taxpayers expense, and then purger himself before congress!

Yeah, I don't see any problems with that line of logic!

Then surely you're fine with the same charges being levied against all members of the administration which directly led to thousands of deaths across Iraq and the US military? I mean if you're going to play that card then you better have enough to make a hand of it.

A democratic appointee maybe lied, "end of the world! Libs hate life!" An entire republican administration lied,"Ooh you guys are just b-b-b-but Bushing you have nothing."

Nevermind all the goddamn shenanigans with Alberto Gonzalez. I'm so damn sick of you guys cherry picking data.

"US Customs agents were killed by a Mexican drug cartel" is not grounds for impeachment of the US Attorney General. There are plenty of other valid reasons.

"Farkup" implies that it was a somewhat reasonable idea that went wrong when implemented. The US Attorneys scandal is anything but that; it was "Use the US Attorneys offices' as extensions of the GOP".

Democrats spending several millions that get several brown people killed = bad

Curious how the idea was flawed? They wanted to track and see who was selling guns to the cartels, how else could they have done that?

The idea was flawed because the intent was to let the guns walk and just discover them again when they popped up. There was no attempt, other than by the agents on the ground, to track the weapons once they were in Mexico. It was basically.

1. Get guns to drug lords
2. ?????
3. Wait for them to show up at crime scenes.

In prior incarnations they did try to track the guns using GPS and other means, but they failed at it and as soon as they started losing guns, they shut the program down. Bush was a grade A moron that surrounded himself with grade A morons, but they got that right.

I don't think for a minute that Holder personally supervised or authorized that kind of crap, but it happened on his watch, and he's doing a whole lot to try to cover his ass. The SAIC of that office should have been fired, and instead he got promoted.

No. You need to be found guilty of a crime before you're sentenced. I'm not suggesting a crime was committed. I'm suggesting that a poorly conceived operation was poorly supervised and executed by his agency, and the result was the death of a border agent.

You don't have to be convicted of anything to get fired for incompetence.

You do have to prove that he did something incompetent, though. There is currently no proof that he knowingly approved the operation as it panned out, or had anything to do with the planning of said operation.

If the call was made by someone below him, without his okay, that's scarcely a "him" problem.

Even more direct, I'm willing to bet that if full redaction comes, then it will turn out that these very same Congressmen who are acting indignant now were made well aware of what was being done and in fact approved of the whole ordeal from the start. The Justice department rarely does anything without the appropriate Congress Critters being kept in the loop, mainly to avoid this exact situation.
