Weird story. Fortunately, the job is so unimportant that nobody cares. Seriously, why do we even still have a Secretary of Commerce?

This is a complete outrage, and Obama is a much bigger ahole than I originally thought. This proves that everything wrong with this country is directly related to Obamas terrible leadership and poor choices. I am so furious my head may explode

FTFHeadline: Commerce Secretary Bryson, whose alcohol and drug tests came back "indeterminate,"

FTFA: On Monday, Commerce Department spokeswoman Jennifer Friedman said the secretary had suffered a seizure - his first - at some point during the incident. She said toxicology tests confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the crashes.

Subby, did that article use too many big words for you?

It was started by Teddy Roosevelt, during the industrial revolution, originally it was the Department of Commerce and Labor, but it was split later.

Either the guy has a pretty serious medical condition causing him to black out and crash into things, or he's got some other rage issues to deal with... either way some time off from making decisions that affect the country seems appropriate.

In fact it almost seems like the administration is taking its time to make a measured and appropriate decision on a matter instead of flying off the handle based on sketchy information. This is behavior that we should spurn, of course.

Yeah. They should have fired him before the facts are revealed. Appeasing salivating reactionaries always works better than following process and seeking facts. It certainly helped bury that whole Shirley Sherrod problem.

Bryson, 68, is the newest permanent member of Obama's 21-person Cabinet, taking his post in October

So, at 68 years old this guy is starting a new job? There seriously needs to be an enforced retirement age in Govt. He is clearly "unfit" for anything but couch sitting.

I say, like in the real world, anyone over 60 finds it nearly impossible to get a new job.

I know "he's got experience". Keep it to yourself troll. You sound old anyway.

You'd have to be an idiot partisan to make this into something political.

"Patients may continue driving, just not very well," said Gregory L. Krauss, a neurologist and epilepsy specialist at Johns Hopkins University. "They don't have normal awareness. They might be able to turn a bit but not do complex avoidance maneuvers."

I'll accept that this situation is possible, Dr. Gregory "Professional Expert in Appropriate Field of Medicine" Krauss, if you'll accept that the "s" in "Johns" seems out of place.

With the Social Security age creeping up to 67, that's seven solid years of living on savings or greeting at Walmart (because thanks to rock-ribbed bootstrappy people, no one but Lazy Union Thugs have pensions, and even they are being forced by Real Americans to stop Stealing Taxpayer Money). Too bad if you didn't get rich or live off beans and rice for forty years! Die quickly and leave the wealth for the real hard workers - you know, bank executives and hedge fund traders.

Yeah, that would make sense if the job actually had anything to do with GDP, or anything meaningful at all for that matter, dumbass.

If they do have results, that would be the fastest toxicology report in history.

Yeah that has to be it. I doubt an old guy that just had a seizure while driving would consider retirement unless something scandalous was about to go down.

Anybody else think of Robert Novak when they read the story? That one went from "Heartless conservative political commentator runs down a senior citizen and keeps driving because, typically, he doesn't even care" to "Diagnosed with inoperable brain tumor, commentator resigns from CNN to spend last days with his family" pretty quick.

If he was having a seizure, he could have been appearing to act normally, and really have little to no farking idea what was going on, and/or recollection of it. The fact that he hit the guy's car again as he was pulling away, and didn't stop again, tells you that his noodle was pretty well scrambled at the time.
