Bob The Nob

Good hang-time.

I was kind of thinking "Ramp is a bit of a kicker, eh?"

Another apparent piece of good planning was assuming since the water would extinguish the fire why have someone in place to extinguish the stuntman?

I don't have much sympathy for "Crazy Mike", however I'm thrilled that Michael J. Fox has found work as a cameraman.

From his website under the "Trivia" section:

"Suffered serious concussion and multiple broken bones from back flipping off vending machine in 2007. Later resulted in plastic surgery to reconstruct the right side of his face."

I'm glad he's finding another career.

I am still chuckling over the guy scrambling toward the geyser of dirt carrying a little FIRE EXTINGUISHER. Yeah, that will be handy. You know, for scooping Mike out of the crater.

/Yes, I know it was a fire stunt, but that looks TOTALLY inadequate.

Dunno if it's the same guy but there is this

the ground and bike make a crazy mike sandwich

I think this is the guy.

Yeah, it's a good thing he's not going to be a stuntman anymore. His brain isn't smart enough to be one.

If a professional stunt man looks at a proposed stunt and has any reservations as to the actual nature of said stunt.... I would think the professional would demand the geeks come in and run the numbers and not move an inch until they gave the go-ahead.

Instead of, y'know, doing it and nearly dying in the process.

So who was actually filming/coordinating that stunt to promote Ghost Rider? His shirtless redneck buddies? Don't big promo events like that usually have some sponsors and/or a big stage area with attendees to watch the stunt?

It looks like they (poorly) set all that up themselves and then said "uh yeah it's to promote a, uh... DVD of... uh, GHOST RIDER, yeah!"

Nothing this guy does really looks all that impressive or hard as far as stunts go. It's only dangerous because he's doing it without safety gear and proper crew to set it up. I wouldn't do anything he does, but I'd imagine most Hollywood stunt companies look at the stunts and go "Meh, we could do that no problem".

He caught enough air to slap a sticker on the ISS.

Just came by to say that real stunt coordinators wear shirts. I'm sure these clowns with their college football tailgating tent were paid $5,000 for the footage. Good thing his career is over. He was not very good at it.

Holy cow, that's a bad toupee glued on Terry Bradshaw's skull., even by late 1970's standards.

I mean, I'm glad he survived and all, but dude. WTF. Greg Proops is going to have to re-write his Evil Knievel bit after this dumbshiat.

Also...
Gaboff now says he had a bad feeling about the stunt before it happened, saying "everything" he saw on the set made him feel unsafe.
"I'm just like, 'this is sketchy,'" he said. "The lake was so short and I'm like, 'I've got this big...motorcycle and I'm supposed to jump this eight-foot ramp into this little pond? Are you serious?'"

...seems like a REAL stupid thing for the guy who went ahead and did it anyway to say when attempting to sue.

sat1va: memebot_of_doom: The concept of a stunt man without proper insurance is mind-boggling...

I'm pretty sure stunt people are uninsurable or the rates would be so ridiculously high as to not make it viable.

I recall Jackie Chan stating in an interview how neither him or the people that work with him could get coverage. I guess the movie profits were used to cover all the worker's comp. caused by the stunts going wrong.

From another article about this crash:

"Mrs. Gaboff said Mike does not qualify under workers compensation for medical benefits for his job-related injuries because he was hired to do the stunt as an "independent contractor" and was, therefore, not an employee of Break Media or Sony."

So he wasn't self-insured, probably due to cost, and he doesn't get coverage from the studio. Ouch.

Maybe he could plan and promote a re-attempt at jumping the Snake River Canyon in a rocket-powered wheel chair. If he is better at promotion than actual jumping he will raise more than enough money to pay his current medical bills. He won't have to worry about new medical bills, because he will die and be whisked away in the river (no funeral costs.)

After watching the Mike videos

DecemberNitro: Also, let the hate flow for this guy

And it only has 700 total views...his "fanbase" is not too epic. Watching him made my soul bleed in horror.
