Gaboff was shooting the stunt for a promotional video to promote the DVD release of the Nicholas Cage movie "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance."

Having to go through the rest of your life explaining *that* should be worth a few million at least.

"I'm just like, 'this is sketchy,'" he said. "The lake was so short and I'm like, 'I've got this big... motorcycle and I'm supposed to jump this 8-foot ramp into this little pond? Are you serious?'"

fark off.

If you don't set up your own stunts, DON'T GO OFF THE RAMP! Eval Kenival would never have done that, and if he did it would be recovery and then out on the bike again.

Is the first rule of being a stuntman that if you don't feel right about the set up you don't go?

Hard to see how the life experience of a 25 year old could allow this to happen. He seems like a really, really, like smart guy and stuff.

2012-06-12 02:05:43 PM
Gaboff now says he had a bad feeling about the stunt before it happened, saying "everything" he saw on the set made him feel unsafe.

And he did it anyway, Dumbass tag appropriate.

I dont see the problem. He successfully jumpied the lake.
The only failure here was Darwin's.

2012-06-12 02:49:32 PM
There was no failure on the part of the ramp, or the lake. He is the motorcycle control professional and should have hit the jump at an appropriate speed...if he were in fact a professional.

Yup.

farking bonehead.

That list of broken bones read like the fail report in some BASIC game that I played as a kid.

Big Cycle Jump maybe? It was more fun than Hunt the Wumpus.

so....this is the video tab...but the link doesn't go to any video

And just WHY was this green lit?

wow. sometimes spellchecker can't help. anyway, for the wembley stadium jump he discovered he didn't have the sprocket size that would work best but jumped anyway. how the hell didn't he and his crew have every sprocket available for the bike and a backup for the most common sizes especially when overseas knowing in those days you didn't get something delivered 24 hours after wanting it.

2012-06-12 03:06:53 PM
So... why is an article that contains no video listed on the Video tab??

He obviously thought he could fly..................

/thanks to gueedo for linking a video and covering FARK's azz

That's why they call him 'crazy mike.' He never bothers to look into the stunt, he just does it.

For that particular stunt, they could have gotten anyone from the street to do it.

Not only that, but according to Sony, he DID set up his own stunt... What a douche.

Make this the trifecta of stupid and represent yourself Crazy Mike!

On the bright side, he jumped the FARK out of that pond. Too bad he forgot the landing ramp.

This was a horrible tragedy that could have been avoided. No need to set up stunts to promote Ghost Rider, NO ONE is going to buy that farking DVD.

Isn't it a shame though? They could have done so much with that movie... This is one of those cases where CGI totally makes your project worthwhile, and you go and squeeze out not one, but two turds? The first movie is watchable, but nothing compared to Dark Knight, Avengers(And the assorted movies), or even Spiderman. I think Fantastic Four was more engaging than Ghost Rider.

2012-06-12 04:28:41 PM
You would think that he and his team would have some idea as to how far the bike would travel after hitting the ramp, it's not like it was his first stunt.

I will watch this movie on DVD, and I will like it. Really, why all the hate? I can actually sit down and have fun watching this without thinking too much. If I'm in the mood for a thought provoking and completely riveting and intelligent blockbuster then I'll watch one of those. What, are you all critics here? As for that one German zombie movie I watched, I couldn't even finish it.

It does seem like the bike flies a little higher and further then you'd think for the speed, maybe it's just the angle. Get well soon you crazy non planning stunt man.

Because they phoned it in. I don't mind watching throw away movies sometimes, but Jesus, I wish they would at least TRY to write half the movies that Cage is in. This is where it falls apart 90% of the time, poor writing. Stupid lines, situations that aren't even fun to imagine if they were real, and plot holes that make the Hindenburg look like a balloon animal. It's like they just paste in a comic book superhero, give him some angst and throw bad guys at him. Comic book movies aren't easy, but they CAN be done right. Ghost Rider is a kick-ass character, and the effects look great. They just didn't give Cage good material. Sure, I'll probably watch it, but not until it is free...

I was wondering about the "careless teens.com" thing.

Would the URL be http://careless%20teens.com ?

Good luck validating that with Google Analytics.

I thought the same. I saw the first one and thought it was crap but still watchable. I thought how bad can 'vengence' be? Maybe it would exceed my expectations somehow.

I was wrong. So, so wrong. I can guarantee that you will hate it.

Don't believe me?

Watch the parts when Johnny spazzes out. WTF?

CGI? Did they even finish rendering the CGI?

Story? What story?

The only redeeming thing about that whole piece of steaming hot turd was the black guy.

You need help before it's too late.

well at least he will suffer forever for being a dunmbass. Hopefully this sterilized him.

Gaboff broke his lower back, pelvis, neck, both arms, ribs, collar bone, and also suffered collapsed lungs and second-degree burns

What a wimp, Evel Knievel would have stopped off for beers and bowl a few frames on the way to the hospital.

I'm pretty sure stunt people are uninsurable or the rates would be so ridiculously high as to not make it viable.
