It's just a prosthetic. It doesn't make the dog bionic anymore than Long John Silver is a cyborg.

It's sad that the technology is being wasted on a breed that shouldn't even be considered a dog.

Public Service Announcement: Chihuahua's a large breed of rat that can and may be thrown in a post pattern 50 yards.

Thank You,
That is all

PS: Ok I will admit I do think its a sweet story, though still a waste of good bionics

I've read that the Chihuahua may actually be descended from a variety of fox, not dog.

Well, it sounds like the university doing the implantation was actually looking for a small dog to do it on.

I also happen to like chihuahuas. When they're raised by people who give half a damn they're awesome little critters.

Is that possible since Chihuahuas can successfully breed with other dogs and make little fertile babies with them?

It was just a theory, but it was the Fennec fox that was mentioned.

But is a fox descended from a wolf like a dog is?

Yes, the dog pissed acid on people's faces. It was that good.

Was looking for a picture of the dog from American Dad, but apparently my google-fu is weak. That or I didn't search with safe-search off, which is generally a good idea since I'm at work...

No, but there is a common ancestor. The theory is a theory - and genetics are weird. Wild horses can breed with domestic horses and produce fertile offspring even though they have different chromosome counts (one greater in wild horses, if I remember right). I'm no expert, but I doubt the fox theory is correct. Apes have 48 chromosomes, but humans have 46. We share common ancestors, but cannot produce fertile offspring. The last theory I heard about is human chromosome 2 is a mishmash of chimp chromosome 13. Google 'chromosome fusion' and dig for the info, it's there, I just can't remember all of the specifics.

Oh, and small dogs are as awesome as big dogs, they just don't love everyone. People who hate small dogs had mothers who loved the small dog more than them, for good reasons.

And in true fark spirit: I only post when I'm drunk. Take none of this seriously.

Maybe tomorrow
I'll wanna settle down
Until tomorrow I'll just keep moving on...

With them rebooting all these franchises they need to reboot that one and mix it up a bit.

The Six Million Dollar Hobo... think about it... you see some guys robbing a bank and this german shepherd runs up. Closest guy pulls a gun and you hear the bionic sound

http://www.soundboard.com/sb/Bionic_Man_Sounds.aspx

then the dog runs up, grabs him by the crotch and throws him 5 or 6 blocks. People would love it!
