Oooops! Forgot about that pesky ol' First Amendment, eh fellas?

If they include a Christian school and exclude this Muslim school, I hope the Muslim school sues LA.

FTFA: Representative John Bel Edwards says the Islamic School of Greater New Orleans applied for inclusion in the voucher program. He says if the school is included, taxpayer money would be used to support Muslim teachings.

What's that? You don't want your tax money going to religious teachings you don't agree with?

Now you know how the rest of us feel, you dipshiat.

if you fund one religious school, then you gotta fund ALL of 'em. that includes Muslims, pagans and even the Mormon cultists.

The thought had crossed my mind of starting a church and school of Rastafari and applying for inclusion, and then suing the shiat out of the state when they deny my application.

Seriously, some of the 'schools' that have been approved are literally a windowless room where kids sit and watch DVDs all day. I can throw a DVD player in my basement and beat that. My basement at least has windows.

Some family of mine were attending an evangelical church in the 90s that started an "Academy" in their Sunday school wing. K-12th, 6 to 8 rooms, and to my knowledge none of the church ladies teaching had teaching degrees (or degrees of any sort). I must confess I'm still amazed that they could be a legal school, private or not.

A while ago, we had a thread about a school system that had a backpack mail program, where they'd send home with every student notices about holidays, school play announcements, and other school-related stuff. The school was threatened with a lawsuit, and ended up allowing local churches to use the system to send home stuff with every student. Naturally, the local pagans decided to get in on the act and send home stuff as well, and local Christians went through the roof.

Time after time, they fight for this stuff, and it never occurs to them that other people will use it too. They really can't seem to accept that they're not legally privileged or special.

That's the plan, right?

Which tribe would you affiliate with? Twelve Tribes? Nyabinghi? Would it be more focused on celebrating Groundations or Reasonings? What edition of the Kebra Negast would you use?

John Roberts has already ruled that free speech doesn't have to be equal speech, so I would imagine the same principle applies to free religion.

Most Rasta will tell you Rastafarianism doesn't have to follow strictures. Even the ones who follow a particular house acknowledge that on the whole its more of a practical philosophy than dogma.

I just love that when groupthink leads to overt displays of bigotry. I don't see how anyone can say "Yes, this was good when it was benefiting my group, but I'll be damned if it helps them." And not immediately turn around and say "Holy crap, I'm a bigot."

Funding issues aside, keep funding religious schools and that's pretty much where you're headed - sub 100 IQs for all.

100 is always the average (mean), so you actually can't drive everyone below 100.

If only there was some sort of barrier so taxpayer money didn't get used for religious teachings I didn't care for. A kind of divider between religious practices and government interference. Oh, I wish there was a better way to say this.
