Now the guy in front's shot will be all blurry due to his surprise and sudden movement, and Grabby McGooser will be able to sell his shots to the AP and Reuters, because his where better.

That crush of cameramen in front of you has to be really distracting if you're at the table trying to give your report.

More than likely, it's just the photog in the back letting the guy know that he needs the dude in front to move over a few inches. These people aren't like bitter rivals, and they are all in the same business, so it's not hard to assume that when they are packed like sardines, they understand that they might be in someone's way.

It's a funny pic, but I think it's something like that...

Was he just balancing? Moving the guy out of the way? Flirting? Picking his pocket? Press pool shenanigans?

I MUST KNOW.

2012-06-11 05:01:44 PM
He could have tapped the guy in front on the shoulder if he wanted him to move over a bit. This was... a more special tap. A sort of "say what are you doing after this?" kind of tap.

Sounds semi-reasonable, but I'm not seeing it. Wouldn't that be conveyed with a tap on the shoulder or hip or side or something? I mean you could say he just missed, but he's clearly got an ass grabbing hand position there, vertical, not horizontal.

Probably just farking with someone I assume he works with a lot.

Hip would probably be more reasonable, but the picture makes it hard to tell if he's actually touching the guy or if he's moving his hand into place. I imagine you don't tap the guy on the should because you could fark with his shot.

If a tap on the shoulder could foul his shot, a goose to the ass sure ain't gonna be much better. Vaguely plausible though.

I did this kind of work for several years, but I cannot explain this pic.

Winktologist
Grabby McGooser will be able to sell his shots to the AP and Reuters, because his were better.

Mr. McGooser already has an employer or he would not be there. And you'd better choose between AP 'or' Reuters or you won't be working for either of them. My first thought was that he was nudging him out of the way or he was loosing his balance. Poke a photographer in the arm he's holding the lens with and you'd be asking for trouble.

He may also be physically moving the dude. Look how weird the guy in front is sitting, possibly someone on other side so he doesn't fall over, and this guy holding him so he doesn't sway back in everybody's way. I worked for a very crappy TV station for a year and a half, and sometimes people physically move you so you can concentrate on the camera, also a lower angle keeps them form knocking the camera around, and allows you to better control any movement that happens.

Yeah, that pisses me off, too. Your camera is only as good as the lens attached, and no matter how many skydiving-photo-shoot commercials you see on TV, a cell phone lens will never equal a real lens.

You will never both take a more sharp picture, while looking completely rediculous to the average person while doing it, than when you have that nnifty fity on your Pro SLR.

and it is no long called a "walking around lense" it is the "proof Im a professional" lense.
