For Rondo and the Celtics:

img42.imageshack.us

They knew they had to beat the Heat in Game 6 or they were done. Too bad it didn't work out. My only hope is that Oklahoma thoroughly dominates the Heat. Already, the Florida people I have on Facebook are multi-posting about the Heat like they are the greatest team ever.

Rondo will have a much easier time, simply being able to take a drop while playing golf next week.

Look at how the media has destroyed Hondo and KJ for leaving the court early.

A guy did that to me in a high school game. He made a layup. That was over 20 years ago, but some day I will forget how YOU MADE ME LOOK LIKE AN ASS!!!!

And then they lost. Great green, lol.

Let's be fair guys. KG and Rondo didn't shake hands because they are immature douches gamers who just hate losing.

Villanova, thank you. I live in Boston though, so whenever something happens that brings the insufferable Boston fans down a peg, it's enjoyable.

It's a legitimate strategy!

I'm just curious what this sort of play is related to in other sports. Baseball's hidden-ball trick? Anything in hockey or football? Football has its share of trick plays, but I don't really recall having heard any overwhelming negative reaction to, say, Boise State's Statue of Liberty play against Oklahoma.

They were merely going back to the locker room to compose congratulatory notes to Miami.

Also pulled off the ol' "crybaby run off the court without shaking hands" play.

Unfortunately not all that surprising from the classless, cheap-shotting Rondo.

What a child.

I love Rondo's passion, but refusing the handshake is classless, and will come back to haunt him.

There's no overwhelmingly negative reaction to this, either. The negativity comes from other actions, like trash-talking via halftime interviews and post-game interviews, then storming off the court prior to the end of the game.

Not that I think the last one is a big deal - it would be unfair of me to say it's not a big deal for others and then say it's a big deal for him...it does go to show how differently the media treats different players based on their narrative, though. Kinda like how there was no greenlight about the Heat kicking ass in Game 6 or winning the series - we get this thing instead (and the story about a Boston fan throwing beer at LeBron).

I saw that play last night and I loved it. Too bad they lost.

Rondo is a pretty man.

Too bad Rondo COULDN'T DRIVE TO THE BASKET INSTEAD OF STOPPING, TURNING AROUND AND RUNNING AWAY FROM THE RIM.

You know, drive just like Miami drove all night. Jesus.

It was pretty funny...get so you're wide open and three feet from the rim...pass to a guy who is covered and 20 feet away!

Rondo's thought process: "OH MY GOD I DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS SHOW AND PLEASE DON'T FOUL ME BECAUSE I AM SCARED OF FREE THROWS"

Rondo's the new LeBron. He does everything for the Celtics and gets relentlessly shiat on when they lose.

That sounds about right.

There are things you can complain about Rondo, this play is not one of them. If you should be complaining about anyone on this play complain that Wade slacked off on inbound defense.

Rondo made a perfectly legal basketball play. Wade made a horrible defensive play. So clearly Rondo is to be blamed.

As it turns out when you only have to play defense a few games out of the year you forget how to actually play it.

I blame Isiah Thomas.

Someone could kick Wade square in the nuts during a game and I wouldn't give a shiat, he deserves whatever happens to him on the court. Hope he gets a career ending injury during one of his flops.

I wish it were only Wade. So many players flop - it's a cancer on the game. It's cowardly and weak.

I know it's too much to ask, but I wish only the NBA started cracking down on flopping with instant replays and post-game reviews of plays -- then handing out technicals and fines. Not perfect, but at least better than just letting this crap go on.

That was a great play by Rondo. I remember seeing (on TV) Scottie Pippin do it once too - I forget who the other team was, or even if it was in the playoffs or not, but it always makes me smile, unless someone does it to a team I'm rooting for.

Rondo and KG should get flak for walking off the court early. And I get that it's part of his personality, but Rondo also needs to loosen up with the media a bit. Being curt isn't going to endear him to anyone (well, except me and others who find it funny that he gives one word answers sometimes).

LewDux: Where's the class?

The guy who wrote that article is a total farkin moron, how is it classless to leave the court because he was crying and he didn't want everyone to see it? He's German for God's sake, they can't just be crying in front of millions of people watching. Writer just wanted to make a story out of nothing.

2012-06-11 07:18:25 AM
Billups did this to Kobe a few playoffs ago. 2009 maybe. Never understood the logic of having your back to the inbounder. You're supposed to be guarding him, and you're not even looking at him?

Yeah really. Boston players acting as classless as everyone else from Boston? Shocking.

Also, this is true.

/and I was yelling at Wade for being a lazy f*cking idiot on it, too

I think Rondo did the same thing to LeBron earlier in the series, though not for a basket.

As for leaving early? I always am impressed with Hockey in that regard. After a series where the beat the crap out of each other, they all shake hands. Then go on beating the crap out of each other some more.

2012-06-11 10:59:41 AM
The Celtics have done this a couple of times this year. They are obviously coached on it and practice it. I don't know how its bad sportsmanship. You make a choice as the guy covering the inbound throw to either pay attention to the guy throwing in or try to help double one of the guys waiting for the ball. Wade wasn't paying attention at all and got caught out. Bad sportsmanship is Wade hitting the deck every time he touches the ball looking for the foul. Walking out after the game before shaking hands is kinda crappy as well, but you rarely hear anyone biatching about it when the Lakers do it just about every time they lose, especially Kobe.

Seriously. Although, it might have to do with that Duke player on the Heat as to why we don't see positive articles from Fark and their Kentucky bias+++++ CARRIER LOST

I think it was Wade that time, too.

TheJoe03: You are why people hate Heat "fans".

And why I wish they'd gone anywhere but Miami. The thing that sucks most is that some of the crappiest fans in sports get to see three of the best players in the league 50+ times a year.

I don't have a dog in this race... like the whole NBA playoff race (I don't even follow the Sixers as a Philly native) but I was really looking forward to the schadenfreude of a Heat win over the Celtics. My Boston-crazed buddies have been relentlessly slagging Lebron (and even sometimes the rest of the team) all year, so I really look forward to the butt-hurt Facebooking in the NBA finals from them.

Note: This isn't a commentary on Massholes in general, but I've never met a Miami Heat fan in my life. I know of two: Daniel Tosh and one guy at the bar on Saturday. I've gotta get my schadenfreude from available sources.
