Considering the car was a lease. I'm sure that business is well aware that insurance will not pay out on a car like that if they did not have documents to prove routine maintenance was done on the car, especially on safety features like brakes.

Odds are the silly girl wrecked more car than she was capable of handling, but mechanical failure should be checked for and eliminated as a cause before going any further.

The car was trying to do us all a favor, but it did not succeed, so in that context it WAS a failure.

Her first version was that the truck driver cut her off. When that was shown not to be the case, she blamed the brakes. I sure it hasn't even occurred to her that the brake system can be examined, even after the crash. If her handlers haven't already arranged to purchase the vehicle and have it destroyed.

My guess it that this will turn out to be like most of those cases of "sudden acceleration" where it turns out that befuddled driver stepped on the wrong pedal....

I remember renting a Toyota Corolla during the release year of ABS brakes and the whole issue with these cars having issues with braking... and I experienced it twice during that weekend, I had to pump those brakes over and over until I finally got something (there was no feedback and the pedals would go all the way in). It happened as I was backing into a parking... ended up bumping the car behind me, but no damage at all to the other car, a light scratch from the license plate holder from the other car onto the Corolla's bumper. Rental company was fine with it (no problem about the tiny mark)... but I wonder if they did anything about the brakes.

Haven't really trusted (not like) ABS brakes since.

But a Porsche model that nobody ever stated as there being an issue, that would be the odds of the lottery for it to have happened to her, of all people.
