Hmm. Emotional, slanted, dog-whistle-filled article in rightwing blog.
No actual facts or evidence from the case presented - just somebody's unverified transcription of some rambling by the judge.
No real indication of what actually happened here.
Good work, trollmitter.

Oh, an article about Brett Kimberlin, the guy no lefty has ever heard of, yet somehow managed to become the enemy of all things conservative.

hillbillypharmacist: Most of those sentences I couldn't even understand.

Conservative bloggers really are disappearing into their own little world. It's getting to the point where they have their own language and code.

In this case, conservatives started going after some mentally ill former criminal, and now they're mad that said former criminal is using the legal system against them. Or something.

Seriously, something is off here. I know the blogger Patrick Frey got SWATted, but I'd like to see independent confirmation of the others. Especially the RS MCCain one. The guy is a huge drama queen. For months prior, he was complaining how no one was paying him any attention, and he wasn't making any money blogging. Next thing you know, "Help, help! I'm being oppressed!", and out comes the PayPal jar, ready to be filled.

It really is par for the course for conservatives: Find some whacko nobody in a nation of 340,000,000 people, try to wrap said nobody around the necks of every last liberal in America, whine about being oppressed, and profit. What a country!

FTFA:

Aside from the merits of the case,

This sums up the whole article. This writer doesn't consider the merits of the case important in the slightest. Which is why his article tells you nothing about them.

From his article, for all we know Walker threw rotten vegetables at the judge, pulled out a gun, or ran screaming naked through the courthouse. Basically, the author is angry that a conservative was arrested for any reason whatsoever. Conservatives, he in effect argues, should be absolutely privileged to do anything they want whatsoever.

Yeah, about the only unbiased and actually informative source on this crap is Kimberlin's wiki page, and even that's pretty thin. The guy was convicted for some bombings in the late 70's, the Speedway Bombings they're called. Now he's apparently an activist so important that the organizations he's founded don't even warrant their own wiki pages. Yet somehow this guy become the new boogy man of right wing pants-pissers everywhere.

Malkin's article tells us next to nothing about the case either.

As a Canadian who's appalled that section 13 of the Human Rights Code is being repealed and hate speech cases instead handed over to the already understaffed courts, I'd like to cordially invite Mark Steyn to go f*ck himself.

2012-06-10 10:10:10 AM
I found this link by googling the arrested guy's name ... and even after reading it, this entire "issue" still makes zero sense to me. The actual information content in these blogs is so low that I have no idea who any of these people are, what the are alleged to have done, and what any of this has to do with any political issues. It's like listening to 16-year-old girls discuss high school politics; my eyes glaze over after the third iteration of, "and then *Jenny* said that *Amy* said that *Debbie* said that *Amy* was lying, but then *Debbie* posted on her Facebook that *Emma* was there too ..."

In other words, "conservative" bloggers are almost literally 16-year-old girls, although presumably they giggle and pout slightly less.

This. The article is painfully short on explanations. It's an article written for people already intimately familiar with both the events and the agenda.

Lastly, one of the tools that the extremists and haters of the left have been lately employing against conservative bloggers is what is being called SWATing. This is the act of calling the police force of the hometown in which a targeted conservative blogger lives and tell the police that something nefarious is going on at the conservative's home.

As a rule, whenever conservatives make an unverifiable accusation against an opponent, the accusing conservatives practically invented what they're accusing their opponent of.

Prima facia and conclusive proof this right wing blogger has used SWATing against liberal bloggers.

2012-06-10 10:17:08 AM
Since this article has absolutely no facts about the case at all I'm going to tangent on how I think people and the courts should start cracking down on bloggers over libel because Freedom of Speech doesn't equal Freedom to Lie and there's too many articles, blogs and Twitter posts out there that are just flat out lies and sadly there's far too many people who eat their shait up as truth.

Maybe tossing the book as some of these asshats would clean up the internet a bit.

Hey Skinnyhead, since you understand right-wing insanity, why don't you explain to us what is actually going on in TFA?

2012-06-10 10:39:31 AM
Since it's a Sunday I followed the blog links to blog links to blog links and here's what I've figured out:

Brett Kimberlan was once convicted of the Speedway bombings and now runs a non-profit group called Justice through Music. It's apparently a blog that also organizes bands to play for political causes. At one point, Kimberlan sued a conservative blogger for defamation and won. This made conservative bloggers very angry and there have been many countersuits, threats, accusations, and a bunch of previously uninvolved bloggers jumping in. This article is basically about the judge making fun of these online hissy fits. NRO responded with an online hissy fit.

So, the whole issue is blogger circle jerk with a bunch of people who vastly overestimate their importance.

I'm guessing you didn't read the blog post (I refuse to call them diaries). A new member talking about someone being banned, and whose comment history was very very at odds with the views of anybody to the left of Grover Norquist.

Hey Mrtraveler01 I am not skinnyhead. But you know that already.

Since you fail at reading, I will give you a hint. The author is commenting on the judicial drivel (hint, read the last paragraph) and sites the judicial drivel in the article (hint, read the transcript). Is that really so hard to understand.

Got it Mrtraveler?

Y'know, I'm pretty sure that there are writing classes available at just about any community college where, for a small fee, you can learn to clearly and concisely convey whatever the hell it is you might want to express in this blog of yours. Assuming, of course, that is your goal.

Thanks for that link. I knew his name sounded familiar. Here is the part when the light bulb lit up: ...admitting that he had sold marijuana to then Vice President Dan Quayle...

Now I remember who this guy is. He's a big time liar and con man. That story was big news and then when reporters looked into his story they found a con man. I think the reporter who broke the story wrote a book about it.

Posted yesterday, indeed. Indeed. Of course, if KOS keeps the post up, the right uses it to claim the left's fidelity to some new Alinsky-figure, a leftist boogeyman nobody on the left has actually heard of. If they take it down, they'll get guilt-by-association for attacking bloggers' free speech, same as ... well, this new Alinsky-figure, this leftist boogeyman nobody on the left has actually heard of.

The entire post reads like a lunatic caricature of how rightists imagine leftists behave after a night of bumbling through Patty Hearst bio-pics and Chivas Regal.

You should get the part where Malkin tries to beatify the late Breitbart and James O'Keefe through this guy nobody on the left has ever heard of (except for the helpful, totally legitimate Kos poster who just through up a glowing profile on a free-registration site the day after this was posted to NRO. For real legit.)

He's probably real, but they will use the Wikipedia article they just created as evidence that anybody and everybody should have known about him despite an encyclopedia with a userbase in the millions, including a healthy dose of right-wingers, having never thought to create a page on him.

And I'm not going to talk about those ways, but boy, it ended fast. I even can tell you, when I grew up in my community, you wanted to date an Italian girl, you had to get the Italian boy's permission. But that was the old neighborhoods back in the city. And it was really fair. When someone did something up there to you, your sister, your girlfriend, you got some friends to take them for a ride in the back of the truck.

I can't make heads or tails of what's actually going on here.

But from the transcript typed from the judge's court recording, it seems like he's advocating street violence as a valid response to some insult. Whatever the hell that insult was that happened, or, you know, whatever this is about.

But back to the street violence which is, y'know, I figger probably a bad thing. Though he probably does have a point - it farking worked.

Another example of a left wing terrorist who did time and then came out to be a left wing activist? Shocking.

But just shriek indignantly, post pictures of Timothy McVeigh, and dismiss evidence going back decades that it is the left, not the right, that spawns terrorism most of the time.

Just ask OWS they can tell you all about terrorism.
