You traded the Bluesmobile for this?
No, for a microphone.
A microphone?!? OK, I can see that.

If the lady want such an asshat and had asked for a reasonable amount she probably stood a better than average chance of winning a judgment. Instead she choose to do something stupid and has probably lost all sympathy from the court even if she r-files.

That's funny enough to make me hope she wins.

I wonder if she is under the impression that her pink slip gave her proof of ownership of the planet Saturn as well.

She and her lawyer know there is no way in hell she will get the amount asking, its more of an attention grabber for the media to show everyone how she was wronged by her city.
And by the looks of it, it is working.

Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a real loser -- in fees, expenses, and waste of time. As a peacemaker the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough.

At first I didn't understand what the author was going for with this comment:

"owes her billions of dollars as a result of the way they treated her automotive Tupperware Saturn."

Then I remembered back to when I drove a Saturn in the early 2000's, and you know what? In my fly Saturn I was indeed fresh.

Somehow I doubt there is a lawyer involved here, unless s/he went to the Orly Taitz school of law...

/ya want an amusing way to pass the afternoon, go to the clerk of courts office and peruse the self filed folder.

From the footnotes of the judgment:

Plaintiff's Complaint also contains references to human trafficking and musicians Shawn Carter ("Jay-Z") and Sean Combs ("P. Diddy"). Although Plaintiff believes that these musicians may be involved in the seizure of her vehicle, these allegations do not support her attempt to state a facially plausible claim.

So yeah, she seems credible.

Maybe you are not familiar with the United States legal system....

500 Billion?

David Boies couldn't even get 5 billion out of Google for Larry. Larry wound up with legal bills and bupkis.

But given David Boies' penchant for signing ridiculous contracts out of greed because even a small percentage of 5 or 500 billion is large (Persuing the SCO vs IBM suit until the heat death of the Universe, really), maybe he can take this one on contingency.

Maybe that will work.

Well to be fair, this is the assessment of Jalopnik, which is the coloring book version of automotive web sites.

Agreed, it ranks right up there with apostrophe abuse.
But just mention it and you are accused of belonging to some fringe National Socialist party.

While I agree with your sentiment, the Constitution promise due process for all, regardless if the said lawsuit is meritless or not.

Oh, lord. Could this be the same crazy person? Name and location are a match...

A Human Rights Petition

Just a snippet of the crazy: This is a petition about me (Michelle Mathis) which has been and continue to be covert surveillance and used for commercial profit by my government and corporations to allow wall street to buy and sell me on the world wide stock exchanges. Through the covert surveillance illegally conducted on me I have been and continue to be used for pornography production (Playboy Enterprises, Inc), research and stock value which control my life. Through the government tax incentives it has allowed for Michelle Mathis identity to be stolen and her life to be placed for sale with within wall street and in the pornography industry. NASA with their technology on the International Space Station is able to monitor and control remotely the very bodily functions of me within private environments.

She is only partially right.

It's the Computer God Brain Bank Brain On The Moon (in cities on the dark side which we never see) which controls us. Each of us has one. She has nearly discovered the actual frightful truth that Francis E. Dec discovered.

My mom (defense attorney) periodically gets letters from people on the other side of cases, former clients, etc. that are like this. Most recently was a guy insisting that he doesn't have to pay taxes because he is his own sovereign and paying taxes is slavery, and also he's not an American citizen because he is a reincarnated Knight Templar.

Good reads.

Maybe she will settle for a billion.
