WTF is wrong with people. As a Christian, I think this poster is hilarious. As as 1/4 Arab: Even more hilarious.

2012-06-10 03:25:03 AM
I want that poster.

2012-06-10 04:23:16 AM
So, a kid creatively combines modern war propaganda with a historical event in a way that is fairly accurate, and he gets punished for it?

This is why I can't stand Christians.

2012-06-10 05:45:54 AM
GO KID!

2012-06-10 08:00:19 AM
That is some darn good work by that kid. I like how Jesus is wearing a cross necklace.

2012-06-10 08:53:41 AM
that kid is farking smart. he actually gets it. in second farking grade, no less.

so of course he must be punished! smart people end up voting democrat. and we can't have that, now can we!

2012-06-10 08:58:38 AM
And one family from the area says the poster depicting Jesus is more than just a history lesson - it's sacrilege.

And surprisingly enough, he isn't visibly wearing a cross while saying this.

2012-06-10 09:12:05 AM
You know who else wanted to kill all infidels?

//Christians kill heathens

2012-06-10 09:21:31 AM
Yahweh is totally going to smite that infidel kid.

2012-06-10 09:23:25 AM
Other than the fact that the Church would have commissioned a little more experienced artist, I don't see what's so inaccurate about that picture.

2012-06-10 09:46:09 AM
'Students at Hamilton were assigned to create a help wanted poster for soldiers needed to fight in the crusades and write a poem about Joan of arc, the Black Death, or the Magna Carta and create a visual background for it. This was one of several posters displayed,' she said.

So, the kid basically copied the Fox News mantra during the Iraq War. He's trolling you.

Give that kid an A!

Heartwarming to know kids can grasp history at that age.

FlashHarry: that kid is farking smart. he actually gets it. in second farking grade, no less.

The artist is in seventh grade, making this slightly less impressive.

/Still epically brilliant on so many levels, though.

Only in second grade and he's already a better Troll than many adults. Good job, kid. Well played.

2012-06-10 10:59:21 AM
And one family from the area says the poster depicting Jesus is more than just a history lesson - it's sacrilege.

um...placed in historical context, that poster/art work accurately predicts the attitude of the time - people WERE told that Jesus wanted them to kill infidels and heretics.

Apparently the photographer was unable to focus his camera when taking this picture. Now why they STILL chose to put this picture with the article we will never know.

Denial of facts? From Christians? Ya don't say.

2012-06-10 12:00:05 PM
So now Christians don't want more Jesus in the public schools?

Make up your damned minds, people!

Well, I doubt that Jesus would have worn that particular necklace.

The picture, made by a seventh grade student, is still on display.

However, the Alfaros did receive a call from the school's principal asking if they would like to schedule a meeting to voice their concerns.

Good. It's refreshing to see a story about a school that didn't immediately fold to some "outraged" idiots.

Fark you, that is exactly what I would have done if I had studied the Crusades in the Second Grade. Instead, we sang songs praising George Washington.

Farking no child left behind crap.

"The picture itself I feel goes against everything Christianity stands for," said an angry Christopher Alfaro to ABC.

Angry Christopher Alfaro should take the class with the kiddies; he might learn something about what Christianity stood for back in the day. It wasn't just the Moslems that Rome said Jesus endorsed killing. He didn't really mind if the Crusaders took out a Byzantine or two.

I would say they're showing how the school is not littered with other sacrilegious artwork.

Must have been the First Crusade. In the later ones, it was "Find somebody you don't like, call them heretics, kill them, and keep their stuff".

Kind of like Iraq.

Big Deal

They would've learned about Republican Jesus at some point

Well I mean why march all the way to the Middle East and fight Arabs who have their shiat together, when you can just pillage the corpse of the Eastern Roman Empire?

Oh and the Children's Crusader.

/although history may have made that one sound worse than it was (in terms of the number sold into slavery)

+1 would lol again

I am Christian and although a bit of an initial shock it IS accurate for the time period and think it is brilliant (to restate that term again). I just hope other studies of religions are allowed to depict similar types of creativity, historical accuracy, and political commentary. This kid gets an A in my grade book

Actualy, in this context, Im ok with this.

OK, I lifted this definition off of dictionary.reference.com:

infidel

noun
1. Religion .
a. a person who does not accept a particular faith, especially Christianity.
b. (in Christian use) an unbeliever, especially a Muslim.
c. (in Muslim use) a person who does not accept the Islamic faith; kaffir.
2. a person who has no religious faith; unbeliever.
3.(loosely) a person who disbelieves or doubts a particular theory, belief, creed, etc.; skeptic.

Christians are always trying to increase their numbers by conversion. That's why they evangelize. You don't increase your numbers by killing potential conversions. So the poster fails.

But it's still amusing.

1. Uptight parent needs to stop believing in fairy tales.
2. Teacher should be slapped for allowing the picture to go up. Not because it has jesus on it, but because jesus had nothing to do with the crusades. The popes were the ones who ordered the crusades.

You do realize that there are other references out there, eh?
in·fi·del/ˈinfədl/ Noun:
A person who does not believe in religion or who adheres to a religion other than one's own.
Use whatever serves your prejudice.

Jesus has as much to do with the Crusades as Uncle Sam has to do with World War I. It's a perfect analogy.

Dr J Zoidberg: There are kids who are still in school in mid-June?

Yes, New England goes till the last week in June if we have snow days. I miss Kansas- we had a 12-13 weeks off in the summer. 8 weeks up here if the kids get lucky.

Kid in TFA is great! What does the complaining Christian think the crusades were about?

Dictionary definitions are not the same as historical realities. The Crusades were not filled with missionaries preaching Christianity to the middle east, they were soldiers and noble men answering Urban IIs call to recapture the Holy Land for Christianity and at the same time gain remission for sins and other spiritual rewards. Do you think that when the armies faced each other that the Christian side was armed only with Bibles and loudspeakers?

"Do not think that I came to bring peace on Earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."
