Is boxing that sport where it's MMA but you have to stand and can only punch?

That'll never catch on.

If the result depends on judges, this is what you get. Boxing may as well be figure skating based on that. Neither have much integrity.

/soccer is going the same way, with its seemingly arbitrary decisions due to having 1 guy cover the entire pitch and being subjective

2) Arum is the one screaming "Manny got hosed" louder than anyone.

I'd rather see a fist fight than dudes rolling around of the ground for a round or two, that shiat sucks. I think kickboxing should have been the boxing replacement, I don't like watching UFC.

Judge CJ Ross (115-113 to Bradley) scored it 7-5 in rds to Bradley. He gave rounds 2, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12 to the American; rounds 1, 3, 4, 6 and 9 to Pacquiao.

Judge Duane Ford (115-113 to Bradley) scored it 7-5 in rds to Bradley. He gave rounds 1, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 to Bradley; Rds 2, 3, 4, 6 and 11 to Pacquiao.

Judge Jerry Roth (115-113 Pacquiao) scored it 7-5 in rds to Pacquiao. He gave rounds 2, 7, 10, 11, 12 to Bradley; Rds 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 to Pacquiao.

I scored it Rds 1, 10, 11 to Bradley, the rest to Pacquiao - overall 117-111.

Some of the rounds awarded to Bradley were so one sided in Manny's favor that there is no way the fix wasn't in. As bone headed as these judges can be there is still no way they happened on two this incredibly incompetent for such a big fight.

who wasn't surprised by this result... every replay was of Bradley getting hit by Pacquiao and somehow he won... apparently you can win by dodging...

Boxing is crooked. I guess that's news somewhere.

2012-06-10 07:09:22 AM
I guess this was to make up for the Marquez fight? Cuz I remember most people felt Manny didn't deserve to win that one.

At any rate, I'm done with boxing. Let the gamblers and crime syndicates have their "sport".

IMO: Round 1....eeeh, maybe. Thought it was pretty even, each fighter feeling the other out. Could reasonably go with Bradley.

Round 2. WTF? How could anyone possibly score that one for Bradley?

Round 5. Worse scoring than round 2. These are the rounds that really show there was something up.

Round 7. Not as lopsided as 2 and 5 were, but still clearly Manny's round. All _3_ judges giving it to Bradley? Either a prearranged score, or they were feeling very sorry for the guy who for the first time looked like he might actually belong in the same ring.

Round 8. More like round 1, more balanced. Manny's pulled back and is coasting, Bradley looks more confident, but isn't landing with power. I could concievably see a legitimate judge scoring Bradley here.

Rounds 9-11. Manny doesn't do a thing to win these rounds. Bradley wins them because he's the only one boxing in there.

Round 12. Could see a split here; I think Manny wins with the power punching at the end, but maybe the judges wanted to see more attacking.

Being as generous as possible, I can see it being scored 1, 8, 9, 10, 11 Bradley; 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 12 to Manny,,,and as I said that's being as generous as possible.

It's a real shame, because i really, really enjoy the _sport_ of boxing; the movements and the strategy are much more aesthetically pleasing than MMA for me. But the thick layer of sleaze over it makes it hard to admit that.

You're a couple years too late for that post. Boxing died the day Sugar Ray Leonard won the middleweight crown over Marvin Hagler on a split decision. Boxing has been a shuffling decrepit zombie ever since.

Anyone calling this a disgrace to boxing hasn't been paying attention to boxing for the last 15 years or so. Don King alone is one huge negative mark against boxing. And Bob Arum has a piece of both fighters, but he's upset at the decision? Yea that doesn't look like a scummy setup at all. He makes out no matter who won, but all the more better if Manny loses on a controversial decision to set up the rematch.

This is great for boxing. After the huge sports day we had yesterday, everyone is going to be talking about this fight today and tomorrow before they get to the NBA and NHL playoffs and the other things that went on. Boobies on this site today is about the fight. Everyone loves to talk about controversy.

2012-06-10 08:59:55 AM
I don't follow boxing at all, but when you learn things like "Arum owns both fighters", you know Mayweather/Paq is probably never going to happen, and you know boxing is struggling to find pay-pers that really matter to anyone.....what other conclusion can you possibly reach?

Duane Ford giving 5 to Bradley is criminal. And that's not hyperbole, I'm saying he should be arrested. Seriously.
